A new year strips away slogans and spectacle, exposing how chaos governs poorly, power erodes quietly, and consequence arrives without asking permission or caring who once controlled the noise.

"Third, foreign policy refuses to bend to Trump’s branding strategy. Ukraine doesn’t end because Trump wants a headline. Gaza doesn’t stabilize because he declares victory. Putin doesn’t compromise because Trump flatters him. Netanyahu doesn’t demilitarize Hamas with a photo op. Trump wants peace deals the way he wants trophies: fast, flashy, and disconnected from human cost. But wars don’t care about optics, and 2026 is going to expose just how thin his “strongman peacemaker” persona really is."
Actual, comprehensive, unapologetic, and prescient.
Yeeeees the plan is working, Bwah haaaa haaaaa! But seriously, you can only pretend to scared of an infantile, orange, narcissistic, dementia-riddled, pedophile for so long! Fuck him and his lineage! That fucker has always been compromised whether it was diddling children or colluding with Russia or taking food and cancer research away from babies, he’s always been a sorry excuse for a human being!
You are correct that as 2026 begins, Trump is weaker, and more boxed in as you say...but he is also suffocating under the weight of his own feckless decisions. From lies to impossible promises, pointless agressions and posturings, and surrounding himself with incompetent advisors, this is a descent of his own making.
It is only sad that he is dragging the nation, and the rest of the free world, down with him.
We all know Trump will never resign; he will continue to live in a make believe fantasy that he is the only one that matters! The constant lies, total disregard regard to humanity, lack of empathy, corrupted and the fact that he’s totally incompetent should have been enough to use the 25th Amendment against him is testament to how our Congress and Supreme Court has failed us!
Michael, I so enjoy your honesty and both the style ond content of your writing. Even though there have been very dark times in your life in the past and for our country presently, knowing that there is community to support us through these times is a wonderful gift. And you are part of that gift. Thank you!
Michael's posting yesterday describing his NYE spent in prison gutted me. He paid a heavy price for the simple crime of having done Trump's bidding. We can only hope that those currently making the same mistake will be required to pay that same high price.
Thanks Michael for pointing out the straight facts about this evil person. We the People will stand strong and united in getting this regime out of our government.
One big weakness is old age. He may believe that he is immune from it and that he will look like his ridiculous superman memes to himself and to his lackeys. Won't happen. Most of the country sees him dozing off...even more than "sleepy Joe" did. We see his bruised hands and hesitant gait. We hear him producing noise rather than giving clear answers to questions. And the job he (unfortunately) has forces him to get up each day and hear things that he doesn't like, sending his blood pressure up. His deterioration may be too slow for many of us, but it is happening and will continue. Tick tock, DJT.
Please do not confuse medical conditions with age. Many people are much older than he is, yet they remain active, mentally astute, in good physical health, and are caring, productive people who put successful efforts into doing good. Conditions he has, and not all of them, do not happen to everyone, and many people live free of such conditions for many more years than he has lived.
Absolutely! Professor Reich is admirably capable. Being not far behind the same age, I find it absurd that anyone points to age as being the problem. It is the current office holding person’s conditions that are problematic, not the age. We must not make the mistake of blaming age.
Even various doctors in lectures warn of some doctors blaming age for conditions, simply because they do not have answers. Age sometimes becomes an easy or bandwagon excuse, a fallacy of thinking or lack of education. It also can be a matter of having limited contacts or examples to realize that age itself is not the problem.
Yes. I have many good friends in their 80s who are active and productive. But they take good care of themselves and others, unlike the Orange Evil. Age is just a number. However, our bodies are not made to last forever, and the ravages of aging don't play well when they occur. DJT refuses to accept any facts, so his time is running out earlier. No one can tell him to eat healthy foods or to get exercise or to fill his head with positive energy. And it shows.
Now that the medical insurance payments have skyrocketed into reality, might we look forward to pitchforks and torches on the National Mall?
If Congress members remove their heads from their anal orifices and get to work for the people, they might actually get this medical insurance thing fixed properly. Instead of arguing about it, they should just do it.
Medical care on a sliding basis. People getting coverage, paying into the fund based on what they can afford, and getting top-of-the-line care because all people matter not just those who can pay thousands.
I hope that the more intelligent Dems can prevail and position the party to be smarter heading into the midterms. We so can't afford to botch this opportunity to expose just how dangerous the Trump regime is to the average American. They must hammer home the message that nearly all our problems could be resolved simply by the most wealthy paying their fair share. Their insane greed threatens to be the death of America.
Start the New Year Right! Stop Obeying Trump!

A good strong message and one that is needed. Thank you Michael and Happy New Year.
What a great ¶:

This comment should be pinned! Like the article said total chaos reigns in the White House!
And how long can people operate on chaos?

All of that part!
PleaseMakeItStopPlease, well said!!!!!!
Nicely done, Michael! We need a great start and this is a great start! (Toronto)
Happy New Year, Michael. Great message to kick off the year...thanks!

He should resign.

Yes, indeed! Look at Professor Reich, who will be 80 next year and he is the total opposite of Trump, in every way.
