It’s Monday. Let’s get into it.
First, thank you to our subscribers. Your support of the independent reporting at the MeidasTouch Network was more important than ever this weekend. I’ll explain why. Please subscribe now to this Substack if you aren’t a subscriber. We need your help to grow today.
This weekend was a perfect example of where we might be without the MeidasTouch Network and independent media.
On the one hand, we have the GOP pushing a disaster budget that will kick 15 million Americans off healthcare, add trillions to our debt, and destroy millions of jobs—all to help billionaires get more tax cuts.
On the other hand, what was corporate news focused on? They focused on bashing Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and pushing the tacky and absurd wedding of Jeff Bezos.
You can see the fingerprints, the footprints, and the middle finger of the oligarchy driving this corrosive news cycle. Yet, their coverage was drowned out by MeidasTouch reporting on what really matters.
Let me be clear: We don’t give a crap about Bezos getting married or his rich friends flying into Venice in private jets.
The whole ordeal made Americans feel like we live in District 12 of The Hunger Games. We have no interest in watching billionaires and deca-millionaires flaunt their wealth while Americans can’t afford housing or healthcare and live paycheck to paycheck.
Relatedly, the relentless media assault on Mamdani shows what the oligarchy does when it feels cornered. It attacks. It hollers.
Mamdani’s campaign is built on affordability and responding to the concerns that New Yorkers can’t afford rent or afford to live in the city. Mamdani has run a social media–savvy campaign that has motivated young people. He’s not running for national or international office. He’s running to address concerns in New York City.
The corporate news is a tool and a weapon of the oligarchs who own it—to entrench their power and distribute propaganda to brainwash the masses into voting against their interests, keeping the oligarchy in power.
The corporate news is the framework used to stop the masses from questioning the status quo.
Similarly, the disaster budget bill—which I call the murder bill—reflects the priorities of the oligarchs: to make most Americans suffer so the oligarchs can get even richer.
It’s why it’s important that the MeidasTouch Network was built by you.
We’ve grown from our subscribers on this Substack.
We program the news differently. We program the news on what matters most to the people.
Whether it’s focusing on the protests, the shadow hearings, the inner workings of court cases, or the specifics of bills, we address the information that people need and want.
We get 33 million views every 48 hours—which is more than Fox News—and as you know better than anyone, our audience is engaged and studying with us.
This weekend, we owned the narrative with the facts.
We kept the focus on the budget bill. We focused on why the Senate bill is even worse than the House bill. We had our researchers up at all hours clipping the floor speeches. We didn’t miss a single second.
We dominated the weekend coverage on the issues that actually matter, and we inspired other independent news outlets to do the same.
This is going to be a busy week. We have to work harder than ever to expose the budget bill.
We won’t miss a single moment.
Your subscriptions to this Substack helped build the MeidasTouch Network.
We have grown with zero investors.
This structure is unprecedented—but we need your help to keep growing, since we compete with Fox and other news outlets that out-fund us by billions.
We don’t need billions of dollars, but we do need to keep growing—and to do that, your subscriptions to this Substack help a ton!
So subscribe now or gift a subscription to someone you know.
We’ve got 24 hours left for our June subscriber deadline and we’re close to hitting the goal.
We’ve got a ton of work to do this week—and we will keep leading all news coverage in this critical week.
All those Republicans who support ballooning our national debt deserve to be voted out and be publicly ashamed of themselves! We're not their cash cows!😡
Thank you Meidas! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
