The lawsuits are here. One, two, three, four, at least five major lawsuits that are being filed by state attorney generals throughout the country. Five filed by the state attorney general of Arizona, Arizona attorney general, Chris Mays. Let's welcome her onto the Midas Touch show. Attorney General Mays, five lawsuits.
0:22
Tell us generally what these are about, these lawsuits against Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

SPEAKER 1
Yeah, thanks for having me. The state AGs have filed multiple lawsuits against the Trump administration and Doge and Elon Musk, you know, for a number of different reasons. We filed against his executive order on birthright citizenship, which is obviously unconstitutional and violates the 14th Amendment. We now have two lawsuits against Doge, essentially.

AG Kris Mayes is Fighting Back Against the Trump-Musk 'Coup'

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes joins MeidasTouch to discuss efforts she is taking to fight back against Donald Trump and Elon Musk's violations of the Constitution

I had the privilege of speaking with Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, who didn’t mince words: Donald Trump and Elon Musk are engaged in a full-blown attack on democracy. And while spineless Republicans in Congress refuse to stand up to them, state attorneys general are leading the fight to hold them accountable in court. Both we here at the MeidasTouch Network and our millions of viewers and listeners have demanded action. Well, attorneys general like Kris Mayes are stepping up.

At least five major lawsuits have been filed by Democratic AGs against Trump and Musk, with Arizona leading the charge. Their actions are so egregious that federal judges have already issued multiple Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs) to stop them—yet they continue to ignore court orders, pushing the country into uncharted legal and constitutional waters.

“This is a coup against our Constitution, against our way of governing ourselves,” Mayes told me. “They are violating over and over and over again… What do you do when the people running the federal government aren’t playing by the rules?”

Mayes and other Democratic attorneys general have filed lawsuits challenging some of the most egregious and unconstitutional actions of the Trump regime and Musk’s influence over the government. Among them:

  1. Trump’s Executive Order on Birthright Citizenship – This blatant violation of the 14th Amendment is nothing more than MAGA authoritarianism, and state AGs are taking it to court.

  2. Elon Musk’s Takeover of Government Agencies – Lawsuits are challenging Musk’s unconstitutional role in the Treasury Department and USAID, where he’s exerting influence despite never being appointed or confirmed to any position.

  3. The Federal Funding Freeze – Trump tried to freeze federal funding to states, threatening firefighters, law enforcement, rural hospitals, and social programs like Meals on Wheels. AGs successfully won a TRO to stop it.

  4. Trump and Musk Violating the Appointments Clause – The lawsuits argue that Musk and Trump have installed unqualified loyalists into positions of power, sidestepping the constitutional requirement for Senate confirmation.

  5. Contempt of Court Violations – Federal judges have ordered Trump and Musk to stop their unlawful actions, but they continue violating those rulings.

And that’s just the beginning.

“We’ve never been in a more dangerous place than we are today, at least since the Civil War,” Mayes warned.

One of the biggest concerns Mayes raised was what happens when Trump and Musk outright ignore federal court rulings.

If judges hold them in contempt, will Trump just pardon his allies? Will Musk keep defying subpoenas, protected by a corrupt federal government?

Mayes made it clear: state attorneys general aren’t backing down. These cases will likely reach the Supreme Court, and when they do, the justices will have to decide whether they stand with America—or with authoritarianism.

One of the most outrageous aspects of Trump’s government is Elon Musk’s unchecked access to Americans’ personal data. Under Musk, DOGE has become into a tool for government surveillance, with teenage hackers and unqualified tech bros accessing sensitive private information.

In Arizona alone, Mayes’ office has been flooded with calls from furious citizens—Republicans, Democrats, and independents—who are outraged that their tax records, medical files, and Social Security information have been accessed by Musk’s lackeys.

Meanwhile, Musk—who is bragging about gutting government agencies—is running around at tech conferences wielding a chainsaw like some kind of deranged movie villain.

“I don’t think Elon Musk has ever used a chainsaw in his life,” Mayes said, mocking the bizarre stunt. “At the same time, what he’s doing is devastating real people’s lives.”

Here’s where the hypocrisy of Trump’s MAGA movement is on full display. While Trump and Musk rant about stopping drug cartels, their own actions are making it easier for them to operate.

  • The federal funding freeze that AGs fought against would have eliminated critical drug task forces working to stop fentanyl and cartel operations.

  • In Arizona, police just seized over 1.5 million fentanyl pills, along with meth, guns, and cash—but if Musk and Trump had their way, those operations would have been defunded.

  • Trump claims to want “border security,” but his reckless, unconstitutional executive orders have weakened law enforcement’s ability to do their jobs.

One of the biggest questions I get from viewers: When is Elon Musk going to be forced to speak under oath?

Mayes couldn’t reveal everything about legal strategy, but she confirmed that AGs are already working to subpoena Musk, demand documents, and expose the truth about how he’s infiltrated federal agencies.

The Appointments Clause lawsuit—which Mayes filed alongside 12 other state AGs—is the most likely case to force Musk into testifying under oath. And when that happens, his entire corrupt arrangement with Trump will finally be exposed.

The message from Mayes was clear: This is a fight for democracy itself.

And Americans are stepping up. The Democratic attorneys general are launching a nationwide town hall tour, giving people a chance to voice their anger over the corruption, lawlessness, and invasion of privacy happening under Trump and Musk.

“If your Congress member isn’t holding a town hall, demand one,” Mayes urged. “Make your voice heard. Call their offices. Let them know you’re not okay with a billionaire weirdo having access to your personal data.”

Mayes made one thing clear: Americans—regardless of party—are waking up.

Arizonans didn’t vote for a dictatorship. They voted for a better economy, a secure border, and functional government. What they’re getting instead is authoritarianism, corruption, and an all-out assault on democracy.

“We still believe in America,” Mayes said. “And we still believe in our Constitution. But we need to fight for it before it’s gone.”

Honestly I don't know why no one in the media including you, educates your people that Steven Miller who is Donald Trump's power behind the throne, his family is from Belarus. His entire family are immigrants. He is absolutely 100% in cahoots with Russia to be Trump's handler and he has been since 2015. I believe every time I said the name Stephen Miller I would say and the "Belarusian" Stephen Miller

A tax cut of $4.5 trillion dollars for the top 1 percent ( billionaires)

SNAP recipients benefits cut 20 percent.

Medicaid cut $880 billion dollars, down to $0 benefit….

Is this what MAGA ( republicans) voted for???

Kandace, that info about Stephen Miller, while believable, is NOT ACCURATE. His great-grandmother did come from Belarus…in 1906! There are a zillion dreadful things about Miller, but being a Belarusian “handler” isn’t one of them— he was born and bred in Santa Monica. See “early life” here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Miller_(political_advisor)

And his liberal Jewish family is horrified at what he became: https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/08/13/stephen-miller-is-an-immigration-hypocrite-i-know-because-im-his-uncle-219351

Rose, your comment implied that they had just arrived! That’s not the kind of inaccurate “information” —or even implication—that should be coming from our side. Immigration OVER A HUNDRED YEARS AGO is quite a different matter. My forbears came from Ireland at the turn of the 20th century, but I’m not a clandestine operative for Ireland! Also, if you would just look a little further into the Stephen Miller story, you’d see that he’s the freak in a very liberal Jewish family which is horrified at what he’s saying and doing.

Having said that, yes his family immigrated from Belarus in the early 20th century, to escape the grinding poverty and antisemitic pogroms. I have a question for MAGA —

You say you wanted trump back in office.

You say you liked his “policies”.

That things were “better”.

That he “fought for you”.

And I want to know why you think that.

Because he told you he would lower the cost of your prescription drugs, and didn’t.

But Biden did.

He said he’d bring back manufacturing, but he didn’t.

Joe Biden passed the CHIPS Act - allocating tens of billions in incentives for companies to construct & expand manufacturing facilities in the US.

For four years straight, he said every week would be “infrastructure week”, only that week never came.

President Biden signed a $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill into law during his first year in office.

He said he would boost economic growth by 4 percent a year. Nope. The economy stalled, and unemployment soared to the highest levels since the Great Depression.

Joe Biden has created 13.2 million jobs and unemployment has been under 4% for 17 months in a row—the longest stretch in over 50 years.

He promised to eliminate the federal deficit. He increased it by more than 60 percent.

Joe Biden cut the deficit by more than $1.7 trillion in his first two years – the largest deficit reduction in American history.

He said he would hire “only the best people.” He’s since called his AG a “gutless pig”, his National Security Adviser “one of the dumbest people in Washington, his Sec. Of Defense “the world’s most overrated general” and he’s said that people were right to want to hang his VP.

Joe Biden has seen very little turnover in his cabinet and hasn’t so much as criticized anyone in his administration, let alone wanted to see them hanged.

He promised he’d build a wall and that Mexico would pay for it. He then took $15 billion from our Defense Department’s budget to pay for less than 500 miles of construction.

Joe Biden got Mexico to pay us $1.5 billion for border security.

He promised to lock up Hillary Clinton for using a private email server. He’s now been federally indicted with 37 charges related to his intentional mishandling of national security documents.

Joe Biden… hasn’t.

He said he would “unify America”, and then told his supporters to attack our Capitol.

He was impeached twice, lost re-election and has to date been indicted 71 times, with more charges likely to come.

Oh, and that money you’re sending him for the 2024 election… that’s being used to pay his personal legal bills.

So, given all of this… my question remains the same — what was “better” under trump? What “policies”? If it wasn’t healthcare, infrastructure, border security, American manufacturing or the economy, what was it?

And if he’s “fighting for you”, why was he using your campaign donations on his personal legal woes?

I would really love to know.

If Trump now taking over the military and being able to use it to squash our peaceful protests isn't enough to scare the slimy GOP Congress into finally taking some action to stop him, then I don't know what hope we have. His next step will be to manufacture some "terrorist act or similar" and declare a national emergency so he can use the military and the national guard to silence our protests and anger. I cannot believe the GOP Congress does not consider their oath to defend and protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic more important than Musk putting money into elections to unseat them or the threats they get from his little bullies. I cannot believe they do not consider the future of their children and grandchildren under this regime more important than the threats to them that they are receiving now. I hope all this pressure from their disappointed constituents and the solidarity of the Democrats in Congress against them will finally shock them into action to stop Trump and Musk before it's too late.

Once that happens, they will find out that Trump/Musk rigged the election and that Trump is an illegitimate president. He and Vance should be removed immediately and a new election held. I hope that AG Mayes sees this comment. I live in Cochise County, Arizona, where the infamous Tom Crosby just won re-election last November despite being under felony indictment for delaying certification of the 2022 midterm election results. His and Judd's (she at least did not seek re-election) actions were ludicrous considering that Cochise itself went blood red in 2022, as per usual. Without Cochise's votes in the total Arizona count, Lake didn't even come close to winning the governorship. But when has the MAGA thought process ever made sense? They sit back and wait to see where the wind is blowing, I truly wonder where the election corruption lies.

We fought a good battle, we never Crosby-ers, there was more excitement in our city than I have seen in years. I even surrendered my green card and paid the $800 fee to become a US citizen so that I could vote. No one paid ME for my vote, I put my own money on the line. But Cochise is quite literally a Republican MAGA Stronghold and it didn't matter that Crosby was and is trying to stick us with his legal bills and that he certified his own election results. Guess we aren't supposed to worry about HIS integrity. Hah. But it really made me wonder that a county with so very few votes could take a week to "count" the votes. That the machines--ironically the very machines that Crosby felt were suspect in 2022--malfunctioned on election night and the count was stopped for hours. This time, however, he certified the vote re-electing him with alacrity. Makes a difference when it's his side that wins. I hope he is convicted in the AZ courts but here's the question: if he IS convicted, does he then have to resign from the County Supervisors??
