Good news! The truth needs a strong media ecosystem to rival what the right wing has assembled.

It is inspiring to watch a revolutionary leader in a developing field breaking new ground in real time. And even more important than your team's succeess is your commitment to telling the truth, your good character, and your full-fledged support of all people and democracy. Yes! Keep going and you will have a show better than 60 minutes ever. Love you young men and smile every day when I see you all together ❤️ even when you have to deliver bad news 🫠

I feel something good is happening in our country and it may be a emergence of an younger progressive takeover to save our grandchildren 🤔

We need to free all the people taken to death camps and replace them with the politicians who are corrupt!

The dangers of media being for profit and in the hands of few are the consequences we are facing now. With the talent that has exited corporate media and turned to Substack and the ability to do their job, a 60 Minutes style show is not as far fetched as it once was. I’d say get in contact with Steve Kroft who is retired and disgusted by what’s happening to his former show, for some advice on doing something like this.

Yes it was, would love to see him do an in depth interview with someone. Half hour show with many segments does little.

Aren’t you sick of celebrity politics yet? Jon is brilliant but he knows nothing about how government works, has no relationships with the people who do, or with international leaders. It’s going to take an experienced person who assembles a great team to even begin to repair the damage.

Not quite. Don't forget that without Stewart's help, the bills to fund—and subsequently continue funding health care for the 9/11 first responders plus expand its coverage to veterans exposed to burn pits—would never have passed. Watch his speech to Congress here: https://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/jonstewart911firstresponders.htm

And remember, too, that after tireless talks with members of the Senate and being promised by Mitch McTurtle he'd "get it done" and pass the bill, Republicans and Moscow Mitch STILL tried to defeat the bill. Stewart then took to the streets in DC along with veterans and first responders; he stayed out there until he had sufficiently and publicly shamed Congress into passing the bill. Watch that speech here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egoquO2gKqk

Stewart also has been hosting in-depth podcasts for several years where he invites experts on to discuss myraid issues that are not getting addressed by our compromised politicians. Jon Stewart HAS worked with people in govt. and he knows infinitely more about how govt. works than anyone in the Numbnuts regime and at least half the politicians in Congress. He also has a sense of humor, knows how to communicate effectively and is not afraid of taking advice from experts and honorable public servants.

Exactly, his political efforts got him nowhere. It was his name and fame that brought media attention to the sick and disabled people protesting on Capitol Hill that finally forced the Death Party to back down. I said he’s brilliant; he does understand the issues. No Government Experience, No Political Experience, No Relationships with Key People = Helpless in government

What?!!! He got the bill passed!!! I consider that a tremendous accomplishment—and it would never have happened if not for his input and tenacity. That is NOT nothing!!

In general I agree that celebrities or businessmen do not make good presidents for all the reasons you cite. However, Stewart is not a celebrity in the mold of Trump, who is beyond ignorant of politics and history, is semi-literate, never had to account for himself to anybody, and whose public image was a complete fraud. None of that applies to Stewart. His celebrity was built on speaking truth to power—with humor—and his character has been proven to be honorable both on and off TV.

CBS's parent company has killed off that news branch effectively. They only have themselves to blame. Any entity looking to buy the media package from ie merge with Redstone might want to discount any value they place on CBS news because it's effectively dead.
