As a person of the Christian faith, I believe Jesus saved their souls. God also gave us the ability to think, reason, discover, invent, and....find ways to prevent disease! Kennedy and his minions. This needs to be corrected ASAP because we will pay a significant price and very soon with rising infectious disease among or people.

The FDA may not have been perfect, but AI cannot replace experienced doctors who oversee the approval process. It just cannot make the same judgements that a human can make, and probably never will be able to do so. The FDA is one of the most respected branches of government, and although not perfect, it has done a remarkable job of protecting the public from unethical people in companies who would otherwise take advantage of people or worse. The safety of GMO organisms depends on what kind of gene is modified. It also depends on the risk of the gene escaping into the wild.
For example, engineering the Bacillus thuringiensis toxin into food plants could represent a threat to humans and other animals. If it escaped into the wild it could relatively quickly lead to the evolution of resistant pests. That would make using Bacillus thuringiensis as an organic pesticide ineffective. These risks need to be evaluated through disinterested scientific experiments and analysis. Unfortunately the current FDA under the Trump regime is not up to the task.
