I'd like to see Independent Media put more pressure on DNC and state democratic committees. I'm an activist and also participate in election watches. Unfortunately, I find the various organizations to be unresponsive to grass roots DEMS. They simply want people to keep opening their wallet and don't bother to listen.

I agree, also. The DNC is one of the greatest obstacles to the party!! I am so tired of some of the ridiculous text/emails I receive. Especially ones that start with "Wow! ____ just said______ ". No imagination at all.

"Honestly....(fill in the blank)" should be the Dem's lead on everything. The Repub's lies are so far out even the uninformed notice. The Clown Major keeps reaching and reaching...well beyond anyone's reality. People lied to are people who walk away - "Don't mess with me (anymore)" is their take away. The Dem's simply must listen and respond, honestly. Honesty is the new hot ticket ( that's how far down the country is). March for Honesty....

Instead, Joe Scarborough advises progressive IL Gov. Pritzker to call Trump to "work out a deal." That's similar to the cautious right-leaning response some have to D.C. being illegally occupied. Joe needs to go back to Florida and stay.

Real lovers of Democracy do not wait for the Democratic Party showrunners to get off their butts and enlarge the tent.

We have an MTN contributor who I believe would be a terrific elected official in his home state of Georgia and he told me he tried. He tried and was discouraged by the local D Party because he had not "risen through the ranks." That is scandalous.

If the D Party leadership cannot accept new candidates with fresh ideas, a commitment to leadership, and support their runs for office, this opportunity is squandered. Shame on them.

Then we need to tell them that! We'd like to be with them, or have them with us, but if they don't start moving they WILL be left behind.

One of the most important messages we need to keep repeating is that securing our democracy isn't a one-off. It has to be protected, by us, at every turn, at every challenge, and on every day. There's no such thing as an unimportant election, anywhere, ever. Benjamin Franklin said the Framers had given us "a republic IF we can keep it.". James Madison said we should 'take alarm at the first experiment with our freedoms."

Republicans, like junkies, can NEVER be trusted. Not ever.

Democrats need a positive message. Not just saying why the Republicans are wrong, but pushing an agenda to appeal to people and making sure a) they can fulfil the promises and b) they tell the truth about what they will do if power is given to them.

Fascism or democracy. That’s the message.

Rosie Shields's avatar

That’s certainly the tenor of the message but saying what you’re “against” won’t get the votes. To get the non-MAGA on board you have to convince them of what you’re “for” and why it’s better than what exists now.

John Lewis, “Speech At The March On Washington” (28 August 1963) Voices of Democracy https://voicesofdemocracy.umd.edu/lewis-speech-at-the-march-on-washington-speech-text/

I appeal to all of you to get into this great revolution that is sweeping this nation. Get in and stay in the streets of every city, every village and hamlet of this nation until true freedom comes, until the revolution of 1776 is complete. We must get in this revolution and complete the revolution. [All] over this nation, [Americans] are on the march for jobs and freedom.

We will not stop. If we do not get meaningful legislation out of this Congress, the time will come when we will not confine our marching to Washington. We will march through the South; through the streets of Jackson, through the streets of Danville, through the streets of Cambridge, through the streets of Birmingham. But we will march with the spirit of love and with the spirit of dignity that we have shown here today. By the force of our demands, our determination, and our numbers, we shall splinter the [ongoing social and political repression] into a thousand pieces and put them together in the image of God and democracy. We must say: “Wake up America! Wake up!” For we cannot stop, and we will not and cannot be patient.

The DNC needs to spend money in red States such as Texas , Florida and all the red in between. For far to long Democrats have more or less skipped over major red States because they think they can't be won. Well I disagree. If people don't get to see you or hear you in person then you will never win them over. A door knocking blitz in red States is something else that needs to be done so candidates or their representative can talk with people so they can understand what the people really need and at the same time the DNC can make sure people are registered to vote. I know this may seem like a lot of hard work however winning isn't easy.
