You are so very right about that. A line in a song "ignorance spreads lies". I take it for granted that what we see here is what everyone sees as as well. I haven't watched what people still call "TV" in years. I don't do cable at all and I used to install cable and satellite. I found out what they make and what they paid. That was over 20 years ago. Geez I'm getting old...lol Anyway yes you are so very correct.

The whole problem that no one clearly points out is that she keeps praising Trump. The DOJ is supposed to be completely separate from the Executive Branch. Her consistent defense of Trump and getting offended by the list of things she’s done wrong is messed up.

Please try to find one small thing not messed up in this administration. Makes the Mafia look like playschool.

Expand full comment
JNelliE's avatar

It did all start with a mafia lawyer named Roy Cohn.

Described as “the meanest, toughest and vilest” lawyer ever. He taught Trump his trademark defense. Deny deny deny, attack those who accuse you and accuse them of the same thing. Smear and demean then counter sue, until they give up or you win (proverbially).

Cohn was the vile cretin who trained Trump in the art of hate and retribution.

He’s since perfected the art of inflicting max pain to anyone who accuses him of anything (especially when it’s true).

Trump’s father preceded Roy Cohn in training him in the tactics of vileness and hate. Fred Trump, a member of the Ku Klux Klan, taught Donald racism and the tactic of redlining black people who were seeking a place to live; he refused to rent to them, solely because of the color of their skin. Roy Cohn was graduate school.

Expand full comment
JNelliE's avatar

Yep, you’re spot on. They got caught in the scheme of renting to only white people. Their lawyer said to just pay the fine. But Fred Kruger…er, Trump fired the lawyer and hired a notorious crook, Roy Cohn. That’s how it started. They refused to rent to people based on skin color… the genesis of the orange man-child.

Alison's avatar

Exactly! But Cohn's death was so horrid, one might ALMOST feel sorry for the man. I don't believe in that sort of karma- many kind people die in horrible ways. Cohn, the virulent homophobe, died of AIDS and denied his homosexuality to the end. It does seem fitting, though. And trump will have his untergehen soon enough.

I've thought about this too, like where did the Dems go wrong in their questioning? I do think guys like Whitehouse need to be stronger with her; I don't expect it from senators like Durbin, but Whitehouse could have said "You are not here to defend Dear Leader Ms. Bondi, you are not Trump's personal lawyer, this is not Russia or North Korea. You are the people's lawyer and expected to respond to oversight questions from Congress with facts and evidence." Still, I know being forceful with these clowns will have no effect. She would simply ignore what was said or come back with another insult and lie. And her side of the aisle would clap and cheer and that is still probably the largest part of the problem. They and their cult are responsible for installing and supporting this tyrannical regime.

She isn’t supposed to be Trump’s personal counsel. Jeff Sessions was at least conscious enough of professional ethics to resign rather than act as Trump’s personal counsel. Sessions knew that the United States was his client as attorney general.

Bondi definitely is, and like Bill Barr, she may get away with it. He has done many things that are illegal and would likely lose his law license it the were discovered:

Her performance before the Senate was arrogant and stupid.

Pam Bondi is being questioned from every direction and instead of clarity, we get a carefully controlled performance. No matter the topic; Epstein, Trump’s legal entanglements, or her own record, her responses follow the same script: deflect, deny, and attack. She delivers them with a flat affect, unshaken and unflinching, showing no fear. It’s not bravado; it’s a reflection of someone who has lived under a system where power shields her from consequence, and where Trump, her protector, has so far remained above the law.

This isn’t leadership; it’s calculation. Bondi isn’t wrestling with conscience or evidence,  she’s performing a shielded act of denial, using distraction and accusation to redirect attention. The controlled expression, the fearless stare, the refusal to answer; all of it signals that she doesn’t believe accountability can touch her. Watching her in these moments, it’s clear: she doesn’t fear the questions because she doesn’t see herself as vulnerable.

I understand, he’s been convicted of some things, yes. But the point is that, in terms of accountability while in office, investigations, and enforcement of laws, he has largely operated without consequences. "Above the law" captures that pattern.

Your article makes a good point Michael, Bondi is DT’s personal lawyer & protector! She does not represent the country, far from it! But DT has surrounded himself with “yes people, how far do you want me to go people” that it’s sickening. Watched only parts of the hearing if you could it that, which I can’t, but it was degrading to the Congressional Senate oversight committee who is responsible for overseeing the executive branch’s departments. The smug, smirk she sat at the table with when she wasn’t hurtling insults, was right out of DT’s playbook, he does the same. Deny, deflect, and distract is this regime’s mantra!

If the hearings are debates, ground rules and definitions such as the definition on attorney general’s role should be laid out at the beginning and any straying from the basic facts needs to be checked immediately. She ranted about people needing to apologize to Trump. Clearly she’s acting as though she is his personal attorney not the United States attorney.

Also, no answer needs to be recorded as “yes”

Attorney General Bondi’s testimony today before the oversight committee was not a defense of justice—it was a masterclass in deflection. If Donald Trump were truly innocent, Bondi would be standing behind him armed with facts, evidence, and a clear timeline that dismantles every accusation. Instead, she offered smoke and mirrors, vague insinuations, and political theater.

Let’s be clear: Bondi is not doing her job. Her duty is to uphold the law, not to obscure it. Her performance today followed the oldest trick in a defense lawyer’s playbook—when you can’t win on the facts, baffle them with BS. And that’s exactly what she did. No hard data. No verified documentation. Just a stream of partisan talking points designed to distract, confuse, and stall.

The American people deserve better. They deserve an Attorney General who pursues truth, not spin. Bondi’s refusal to present factual exoneration isn’t just suspicious—it’s a dereliction of duty. If Trump were innocent, the facts would speak for themselves. Bondi’s failure to deliver them speaks volumes.
