SPEAKER 4
I've often said that Trump's corruption is matched by his incompetence, and that is on full display this week, as he not only has hired the worst people in connection with the legal matters, Department of Justice and elsewhere, but also some of the most incompetent people. And we're actually now seeing a mass exodus,
0:23
a mass resignation of the competent people, even the competent, conservative, MAGA-adjacent federal prosecutors are saying, you must think I'm a fool if you want me to do some of the things that the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General are ordering us to do here in the various federal prosecutorial divisions.
0:49
let's cover first the mass resignations of some of these federal prosecutors, both in the Southern District of New York, as well as in main justice in the public integrity section. But first, I want to just remind everybody as we go through this theme, incompetence and corruption, who is Donald Trump's attorney general? Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Pam Bondi,

I am worried about the resignations…they absolutely did the right thing BUT does that not make it easier for Frump and his band of criminals to come in and fill those positions with more incompetent maggots

Competent people warning us about Trump and Musk's minions did nothing to save Democracy and this country, the alarm bell was rang in 2016 and they didn't listen, unfortunately. The NY prosecuter that resigned over Trump was appointed and somehow voted for Trump but yet she is somehow a hero for resigning but voted for a convicted criminal...how does that work? I'm so tired of hearing people say that even Trump voters are mad at him. What's even worse are videos of Maga people that say they regret their vote for Trump even though they voted for him multiple times. They and the insurrectionists get more air time than the people that voted for Democracy.

To me, it's not that there's some great redemption in what they are doing, only that it shows the Felon's regime won't hold. I agree this isn't where all the airtime should go, we need to follow the path of competence & BEST ethics. We each will decide some people don't hold to that enough & aren't trustworthy, but it still has to be about principles. These people are not demonstrating that they are perfectly principled, but they are showing that principles hold, that holding to competence & ethics is what works. It's important that that be reported more than lies.

Many of the people resigning are, and always been, registered Republicans who are known to be very Conservative. Yes, they will be replaced by attorneys willing to bend or break the law. The attorney who has agreed to file the request to cancel the court case volunteered because even more attorneys were ready to resign. He will file the paperwork with the hope that the judge will refuse to accept cancelling the charges.

Tina's avatar

In a normal democracy there would be principled people in the Senate who would choose the citizens & country over party & one man. Senator Dirksen and a group of senators went to Nixon and told him straight up that they weren’t going down with his ship & would throw him overboard if he didn’t resign. Sadly that level of patriotism no longer exists in the GOP.

5. Remember professional ethics. When political leaders set a negative example, professional commitments to just practice become important. It is hard to subvert a rule-of-law state without lawyers, or to hold show trials without judges. Authoritarians need obedient civil servants, and concentration camp directors seek businessmen interested in cheap labor.

It doesn't matter if he loses in court because Trump is ignoring the rule of law, and now, ALL the honest, truth-telling, ethical judges and lawyers are leaving our once-was US government. Where does that leave us, We the People? No one left to defend us any more. (The SCOTUS sure won't.)

On another note: I don't think Trump etal have their eyes just on American Democracy. I think Trump, etal, have their eyes on All World Democracies. Crash our economy (nothing will be spent if nothing goes in) (and soon, no FDIC), then change the USDollar to crypto, which will then be the global standard (as the USDollar is now). Funnel all our secrets to Putin (and other totalitarianist/ authoritarian governments) via Gabbard. Insert Patel as head of our safety net ('homeland' terrorist groups will take care of us citizens AND God please help undercover agents working overseas). USAID is gone (insert China) AND (God please help current USAID workers overseas. Were I one of them, I would quietly disappear). Trump controls our military (the most powerful on this planet. etc etc. AND, Voila--Trump etal takeover this planet. So, and in my opinion, We the People are not just fighting for this Democracy, we are fighting for our world.

BTW, Trump is just the figurehead now because they know MAGAs adore him. He's addled. He has dimentia. They tell him what to do. He's mostly not even in there anymore.

I'm not sure if this helps but it gives me at least a little bit of hope. I never knew thatn one of my cousins has a friend that is a US Marshal. She asked him about something that I think most of us are questioning regarding how a court order from a federal judge is enforced when it is blatantly ignored. He said that although he couldn't speak for everybody, they are bound by the law to execute and enforce a federal judge's order, unless the DOJ provides a valid reason, under the law, not to. Again he said he can't speak for everybody, but because they take their responsibility seriously, their duty would not be to an unlawful order from the DOJ; it would be to the federal judge who had the power to also hold them accountable for not executing a federal court order, as the consequences could be severe.

However, I think we all know by now how unpredictable every day seems to be, but due to the recent events involving the resignations of so many prosecutors, that sliver of Hope is where I choose to hang my hat today. Having hope just feels better!

I have an idea and I think it's a good one to protest Musk doing what he's doing. My hope would be that if you agreed you'd share and encourage others to follow suit.

Let me know if you get this comment.

Thanks!

Regarding the fired, IG’s: why are they not staying in their positions, pending the suits for unlawful termination? Is that not the way due process should work? They certainly have every right to be there!

@Ben - we need these people to NOT resign and instead insist on staying out and thwarting their ‘masters’. Because if they all resign, then they’re replaced by incompetent and complicit fools. Isn’t that more dangerous?

While disturbing news I’d love everyone to hear it. The fast speaking lingo is hard to keep up with. Can you slow down just a little. It’s one thing to hear a core dump of info and a little time to assimilate the information.

Amen, Popok, about your comments regarding Russia being thrilled that Trump and Vance are doing Russia's work for them. I, too, am of an age where this is absolutely unprecedented. If you grew up during the Cold War era, you would never in a million years expect Russia to be celebrating a speech by the American VP because it plays right into their hands.

First Installment: My Traffic Solutions as NYC Mayor As your mayoral candidate, I'm Mike Pelinkovic, and I'm dedicated to transforming NYC's traffic crisis. While our current mayor remains inactive, I'm proposing eight concrete solutions to get our city moving again. My plans include streamlining construction zones, optimizing HOV lanes, enforcing truck lane discipline, addressing slow drivers, restricting large truck hours, removing unnecessary barriers at the Battery Tunnel, improving bridge traffic flow, and converting Third Avenue Brooklyn into a freeway. This is just the beginning of my comprehensive vision for a better NYC – one that tackles not just traffic but crime, poverty, and homelessness too. Visit my website to support our movement for a better quality of life for all New Yorkers, present and future. Together, we can make real change happen. 🖐️QUESTION: is there a transcript for these episodes? I’d love to see a top 1, 2, or 3 action list for each episode included. Best would be from you—a shareable notecard. Meanwhile, a transcript would help me comb back through after listening to grab the most urgent shareable talk points or actions to push out through my Indivisible and other groups. For instance, from this episode, I’ll bullet point the $200M (and Michael’s itemization of that) the Trump grifters have pillaged so far, Elon’s $250B gain paired with APNews itemization of public subsidies to Musk, and Popock’s main points that demonstrate the illegality of the Eric Adams extortion BS. We need to carry pocket (phone) notes for quick responses when talking to people who, as you say, could conceivably drop the scales from their eyes. I’m an attorney (retired). Alas, my young attorney’s memory has been usurped by a rabidly democratic but forgetful grandma. Flashcards on the go help many of us not fumble the pass. (Seriously, even the young attorney or non-attorney brains are overwhelmed now). Thanks for providing a news outlet to fill the void.

Olis do not think non olis are human. They worship wealth and believe they earned everything they have. Why do non oli people vote against their interests and vote to bring misery and death to their children and grandchildren? Because 1. people working harder for less don’t have time to gather facts, even those who want to; 2. a win at all costs (or look like a winner) mentality is instilled in the culture from toddlerhood; 3. Right wingers have increasingly diluted the quality of public education; 4. some are just plain ol fascists, racists, misogynists, transphobic, pick your ist or ic (ick).

Love your analysis, but please Ben, stop rambling so much with the detailed minutia that we already know.
