From The March 31, 2026 Order by Federal Judge Richard J. Leon, District of Columbia, National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States v. National Park Service; Civil Case No. 25-4316 (RJL) Stopping Ballroom Construction; https://tinyurl.com/42474syd

The President of the United States is the steward of the White House for future generations of First Families. He is not, however, the owner! I must therefore GRANT the National Trust's Motion for a Preliminary Injunction, and the ballroom construction project must stop until Congress authorizes its completion. ... Where does this leave us? Unfortunately for Defendants, unless and until Congress blesses this project through statutory authorization, construction has to stop! But here is the good news. It is not too late for Congress to authorize the continued construction of the ballroom project. The President may at any time go to Congress to obtain express authority to construct a ballroom and to do so with private funds. Indeed, Congress may even choose to appropriate funds for the ballroom, or at least decide that some other funding scheme is acceptable. Either way, Congress will thereby retain its authority over the nation's property and its oversight over the Government's spending. The National Trust's interests in a constitutional and lawful process will be vindicated. And the American people will benefit from the branches of Government exercising their constitutionally prescribed roles. Not a bad outcome, that!

This is clearly an example of the current regime attempting to influence the mid-term elections. “If there is nothing to hide…” argument should be directed at the Epstein files.

Yep. The lawless gangster currently occupying our WH, along with his corrupt gang of thieves, are in full-throttle, guns blazing, because they KNOW what the polls are saying, so trump’s in panic mode.

They also know that if the Dems take control of the House, he will certainly be impeached for a 3rd time. And several members of his cabinet WILL BE INVESTIGATED.

AND if democrats also take control of the Senate, Trump WILL BE INDICTED, investigated, prosecuted and permanently removed from office.

So trump is desperately doing everything he can to take full control of the midterms by any and all means possible.

At this point, it’s all about the Epstein files.

The unplanned War of Distraction did not pan out well. The competing voices he hallucinates failed to guide him as promised through the vicissitudes of his alt-reality:

“It was like when you make a move in chess and just as you take your finger off the piece, you see the mistake you've made, and there's this panic because you don't know yet the scale of disaster you've left yourself open to.” ~ Kazuo Ishiguro, Never Let Me Go

I’m a pretty dangerous dude when I’m cornered.” “Yeah,” said the voice from under the table, “you go to pieces so fast people get hit by the shrapnel.” ~ Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

And there it is, Marc Elias, Democracy Docket just posted -

“ Trump signs sweeping order attacking mail-in voting”

“President Donald Trump signed a sweeping executive order Tuesday targeting mail-in voting and escalating his long-running effort to restrict voting access ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.”

Congressman Swalwell will make a fine candidate for Governor of California. He is hardworking, articulate, and principled. The Trump regime knows this and seeks to undermine his candidacy with their immoral smear tactics. The fact that they are out to get Eric Swalwell is all the more reason to support him with funds and votes. Remove the Regime!

For context. Footnote 1 of Swalwell's attorneys' 30-Mar-26 letter to Patel links to this article:

NYT; 28-Mar-26; F.B.I. Said to Dig Up Old Investigative Files on Democratic Lawmaker; https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/28/us/politics/trump-fbi-patel-eric-swalwell.html

Trump administration officials have ordered F.B.I. agents to gather documents about a decade-old investigation into a Democratic congressman and his ties to a suspected Chinese spy, according to people familiar with the matter. The investigation dates from more than a decade ago, when F.B.I. counterintelligence agents looked into a Chinese woman, Christine Fang, or Fang Fang, who assisted Mr. Swalwell with fund-raising. The F.B.I. concluded the investigation, and the Justice Department did not bring any criminal charges. Ms. Fang left the United States for China in 2015, possibly because she had learned about the counterintelligence investigation into whether she was a spy. Mr. Swalwell has denied wrongdoing, and law enforcement officials have not presented any evidence that he knew of anything amiss about Ms. Fang. In 2023, the House Ethics Committee ended a two-year investigation into the relationship between Mr. Swalwell and Ms. Fang without taking any further action.

Wow, finally some courage from the home of the free and the brave, though it's been mostly the home of trump's control and the cowardly. Could this be the start of fighting back against the BT Barnum circus down there?

What a bunch of vindicktive idiots who not only don’t know the laws of our great country (when they leave it), but don’t they have other things to do without wasting our taxpayer money on repetitive and pointless lawsuits!!!!

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Pointless? With Swalwell the leading Democrat in California's unusual system of primaries, smearing him close to the election increases the chance that California's next governor will be a Republican which would be a train wreck with national consequences.

Ellen Mosca's avatar

I am not saying Swalwell suit is pointless I am saying Patel and frump et al is pointless. Swalwell is one of my favorites.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Oh ok. I thought you meant Swalwell pushing back on Patel was pointless.

Ellen Mosca's avatar

Noooooo ,sorry about that

Randy Ward's avatar

Did you not read the reasons for the lawsuit? Or are you ok with Trumplethinskin’s regime violating the Constitution but not with someone defending it?

Edit: I misinterpreted the original post’s perspective and now understand and completely agree with the comment that supports Rep. Swalwell’s position.

Ellen Mosca's avatar

I think you are misreading my post . We are in agreement.

Randy Ward's avatar

My apologies, I misinterpreted your comment to imply that you were berating the Representative for threatening the lawsuit. We are definitely in agreement.

Ellen Mosca's avatar

No worries my friend…

Brenda Gass's avatar

Randy, I still get confused when I reread it. I understand it to say it would help. Republicans win even though it would be a train wreck. She needs to work on her comment.

Patel and Bondi will stoop so low, all to block and destroy anyone Trump tells them to. They work for us, not Trump, think they conviently have forgotten that.

If they ever knew it to begin with.

Patel is dumber than a box of rocks and needs to be exposed for the fake that he is. Go back to the shock jock world. That's where you belong.

Eric Glover's avatar

Didn't Patel do a little stint in prison for lying to the Feds back during the Russia Investigations? I think a prison stint is what it takes to be in Trumps regime?

Ricardo C.'s avatar

Yeah, his book was complete shite by the way.

ICE: Creating A Surveillance State With A Gestapo

Cheeto’s Gestapo agent Tom Homan has said that ICE won’t be leaving the airports even though the TSA is being paid through Cheeto’s executive order and the ICE agents don’t do anything to help TSA out to reduce the long lines at various airports

So what is the reason that Herr Homan is still keeping his goons to “help” TSA ? It’s a matter of intimidation of the American public and to get them used to having ICE in the public eye to “get them used to the fact that they are part of the surveillance state” So get used to it America ICE is your new Gestapo

This is part of the CNPP’s (Christian Nationalist Pedo Party) strategy to begin a Orwellian Big Brother is watching The primary reason for the SAVE Act which Cheeto desperately wants to pass even if it means nuking the filibuster is to achieve a surveillance state using billionaire Theil’s Palantir platform after getting all the state’s voting rolls This will not only allow the creation of a list of “good guys” and “bad guys” but enable the purging of legally registered voters to issue vigilante challenges in order to disenfranchise them

In recent days it’s become clear that DHS is now beginning to seek state’s voting rolls under the pretense that it’s for national security, camouflaging the fact that DHS will use this information to do voter suppression at the state level
