Dr. Amy Acton all the way.

Our GOP politicians here in Ohio only won due to gerrymandering. They care about ideological slop like requiring high schools to teach a life sequence (look this up, it's awful) and bringing in data centers that will only deplete our resources while bringing in minimum jobs. Oh, and pumping money into oligarchs’ pockets - they're the GOP, of course.

They couldn't care less about the urban poor. The Appalachian poor. The farmers. The workers. The women. The marginalized. The middle class.

They don't give a single damn.

I hope we vote them out so hard, the rampant gerrymandering here won't even matter. I love my state. It deserves better.

Dr. Amy Acton for Ohio!!!!! We need you and I hope you will be able to un-Gerrymander Ohio, we need to have FAIR ELECTIONS. Vote Amy Acton, Vote for Ohio, Vote Democrat. 💙💙💙💙💙

A smart Doctor who has experienced hardship and has overcome is very inspiring.

She could be relaxing enjoying her success, instead she wants to fight and improve the life of others.

Imagine if the billionaires were like Dr Acton instead of being evil and greedy. Republicons have caused enough suffering, get rid of them. They've forgotten they're meant to work for the best interests of the people NOT themselves.

tn islander's avatar

I'm in Tennessee and they implemented the life sequence in school. I pray y'all vote them way out!

Great interview, Ben. Thank you for introducing us to Dr. Amy. I live in Michigan and Ohio is my neighbor. I’ve spent a lot of time there. Ohio was traditionally Blue along with Michigan in trump showed up.

I’m sure voters will turn out for Dr. Amy.

I might need to volunteer to phone bank for her.

Thanks again.

Have hope!

What are the results after Universal Healthcare:

Rural Hospitals ^

Medical profession ^

Drug price controls ^

Rn (nurse pay) ^

All good for We the People ^^^

At who's expense? The filthy rich.

(Who do we want to be?)

Dee Joy's avatar

The truth is the filthy rich have so much wealth that it doesn't effect them at all. They need to pay living wages and tax and stop hoarding all the money and resources. They have more wealth than they could ever spend in 1000 lifetimes.

Fraser's avatar

Plus they shelter most of it through companies, trusts etc. and end up paying less tax than the middle-class!

Margaret B's avatar

Weird, isn't it? Money buys servants and services most folks can't afford, yachts swimming pools, private schools, private planes, high-priced club memberships, etc., but you only need a few million to be secure in that lifestyle. There are only three worthwhile advantages I can see to having much more wealth than that: inheritance for generations of decendants, funding endowments for good causes, or buying political power to control countries and large numbers of people. It behooves us to stop anyone using wealth for the third reason. And the effect of taxing the very rich a good deal more would not have overall negative effects on the first two wealth advantages for descendants or society. I could give reasons why, but I'll leave that to you here.

Dee Joy's avatar

The people have more power than the people in power. Republicons are the politics of desperation and despair.

Ohio is a great state, from CA!

I can't wait! My hometown of Toledo has always been pretty progressive, but I've been noticing a shift in the rural areas of Northwest Ohio as well. More people are waking up from the MAGA fever dream.

S. A. Linden's avatar

That's great! I'm in Ohio too and those NW farmers are pretty rich, as unlikely as it seems. They're Germanic and quite industrious, but they fund a lot of the GOP hanky-pank that has been going on. And they traditionally vote GOP.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Reelect Marcy Kaptur. The Republicans talking about running are uniformly awful.

Fraser's avatar

Well Ohio is in the auto business a bit I think as well, right?

Danielle's avatar

As a tiny blue dot in the red state of Ohio, I am so ready for a change. Dr Amy truly has a pulse on the true needs of the state and will push to provide for the many, not the elite few! It will be quite the breath of fresh air if she wins

Mark Griskey's avatar

Trump will call her “ low IQ despite her degrees… because Trumps base is sexist

Franca Garofalo's avatar

Absolutely he will, and we need to have her back every time!

Amy Acton is for action! What a great interview with this powerful woman. :)

David A Pitock's avatar

she'll kick ass in Ohio and the citizens deserve a governor like her . she is running a grass roors campaign so donate if you can and want to.

Dave Reyburn's avatar

Amy Acton showed she was leadership material during the COVID lockdown. She was always honest, direct and compassionate.

If there was a gap in the data, she would say so. Never any spin or deflection. She’s going to be a formidable opponent.

I hope she’s up for what the dark moment PACs are going to throw her way but having seen her in action in 2020, I like her chances.

S. A. Linden's avatar

Yes. She helped DeWine to get positive national attention for her efforts, as she is an epidemiologist, I believe.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

And then DeWhiny de Spineless stabbed her in the back when the MAGAs in the legislature scowled at him.

S. A. Linden's avatar

Exactly. You could hear the loud anti-maskers yelling at him during their daily COVID updates. I do wonder what the COVID casualty rate eventually was among them. DeWine is not exactly brave.

Mark Griskey's avatar

So many powerful women out there!!! Go girl go!!!

WJB Motown's avatar

Women "take" the power!!! Ditch the "mico-mushroom maggot dicks"......their pickups and nazi flags!!!.

S. A. Linden's avatar

Amen! They are all so crooked and their GOP Ohio House leader is in prison for racketeering. That FBI investigation and reveal led to two suicides. There are others going free who are still implicated.

Fraser's avatar

Wow! Really! Yikes!!

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Don't forget Useless (Husted) is up for retention next year (he was appointed by DeWhiny.)

I live in Ohio and see her as a light on the horizon.

S. A. Linden's avatar

After being born and living on military bases, I grew up in Ohio and I've seen a deterioration under Republicans that is pure ego and grift. As a child, we lived close to the Indiana border, and I can remember how much better our roads were. Even though my parents trended blue, my two half-sisters both married conservative farmers, but that was back when Ohio conservatives were sane.

Ohio has been a perfect laboratory for MAGA, and it is quite sophisticated how they've managed to go about it...not sloppy, not blunt, but deviously clever.

Our blue cities are growing, our rural areas are not thriving, but Democrats have been so boxed in by gerrymandering, one would never know it.

Until now. And the proverbial sh*t hits the fan when the economy goes down. I never thought that SE Ohio would start to shift, but since SNAP and healthcare are threatened, people there are rethinking their choices. They are tribal, mostly poor, and come from KY and WV. Really used to hard times, but when your federal subsidies are threatened, it's a heads up moment.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I don't think they were "deviously clever." They used the bludgeons of gerrymandering and voter suppression. There's nothing "clever" about secretary of voter suppress... I mean STATE .... Frankie "Jim Crow" LaRose. He's open about what a piece of lying undemocratic scum he is.

S. A. Linden's avatar

None of them are honest. But Ohioans didn't notice what they were up to until it was too late and then they had it fixed. I knew Jennifer Brunner personally for years, and she was the best SOS that Ohio had (and the best Supreme Court justice they have now), but the minute they got rid of her as SOS, they proceeded to break the system again.

Michelle Murvai's avatar

You nailed it! And Im NE OH.

Ohio resident here - I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and help Dr. Acton elected. What a breath of fresh air!
