Just because the protests are being ignored by the news doesn't mean they're not happening! Check out 50501, Indivisible, Women's March, and others. Yes, we need way bigger numbers, and your point about "online protesting" is well-taken, but people are showing up. We just need to scale things up to meet the moment.

Yes! Fight now. Too much is at risk to wait! Mobilize Blue state National Guards when threatened. The invasion of one state by another is a call to state Governors to mobilize their National Guards to resist an UNLAWFUL assault. The U.S. military should not accept UNLAWFUL orders. The sooner we get this over with, the better. This confrontation is coming. It is coming! We are stronger now than we will be tomorrow. The confrontation is not a battle or a war. It is a standoff at the State borders. We know TACO. Also, the gerrymander fight is on. There is a new playbook. The old rules have been struck down by the Supreme Court. We need to change the gears here as fast as possible for deadly PREEMPTIVE strikes. Newsom has moved out on this already. Who is next? Hochul. Where are you? NO EXCUSE! Change your state Constitution. Pritzker. What are you doing?

I’ve been saying this ever since Trump ordered active military to Los Angeles. Blue state governors need to be getting their National Guard ready to man the borders of their states and not allow any NG troops from other states to enter and absolutely not let any federal troops to enter. It will be a standoff of epic proportions. I do not believe either side will shoot at each other, but if they do, then we will have entered into our 2nd Civil War. And if that’s what it takes to save our democracy, then so be it.

So it's our fault? We didn't vote for him. We are not in power in Congress and this isn't a game of any kind. Falling short of going out and shooting MAGA voters (no thanks) what the duck do you want us to do other than what we are already doing? Stop blaming the good guys. The resistance has made a lot of progress and we are all valuable parts of it.

I’m afraid nothing will change until congress becomes more concerned with us than they are with Trump. That takes hitting the streets, calling relentlessly, post cards/letter writing, … I do like the idea of large, general strikes. They seem to be having an impact in Israel.

Stephanie. This isn’t about you. Don’t make it about you. No one is dismissing all the protests happening. I admire all those people. I think there are sufficient comments on here that urge for larger numbers. That is the point.

Very true, Roberta. But I think what Stephanie is saying is that the article made it sound like nothing has been done by people in different cities and communities. I don’t think Stephanie was trying to make it about herself, but in a way individuals like myself and the rest of us that participate, are the ones that make up the group that seems to be being blamed. I understand Michael’s frustration, as I feel the same frustration. But I’ve done, and continue to do, everything that I think I can possibly do short of shouting in the legislative meetings or storm into my Senator’s office. We just don’t feel listened to.

I understand what you’re saying. And I will say this again, that I truly admire all of you who are out there participating. I guess our perspectives of this article are different. I don’t sense any blaming, but there is an urgency to get more people motivated and involved. When you have a 39% support for the orange blob, people need to wake up. This isn’t only about the US.

Americans have become stupid. No common sense, no knowledge of history. This is the same formula Hitler used in Germany in the 30's, and it worked. We are now under the rule of the AMERICAN NAZI PARTY

And if we try to educate on world history, it gets interrupted right away: “How dare you compare Trump to Hitler!” Why can’t people understand that we are not saying that Trump will conduct a Holocaust (hopefully?), but so people can understand how a dictator arises.

Democrats need to fight back and fight fire with fire. No being nice anymore. They want more seats, we need to do the same. Take back Congress and stop him in his tracks. He has no right taking the choice away from the American people. He needs to be impeached now. I was a lot better off the last 4 years than in the last 6 months. Everything costing more and being on Social Security it isn't easy and with the crap they are pulling with Social security, medicare and medicaid, god knows how much longer we will have any of it. If we take back Congress, his agenda will be stopped and we can impeach him and get our country back. People shouldn't have to flee their country because of a man drunk with power and a GOP kissing his ass instead of putting checks on him. HE IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW and he needs to be held accountable along with everyone who is enabling him.

Cheeto Will Follow Steve Bannon’s Marching Orders

Globe trotting anarchist Bannon relayed what the Nazi midterm election playbook is all about for 2026 Cheeto and his Nazi allies in the WH are clearly concerned about what they’re seeing happening in the streets as WE the People keep showing up in ever increasing numbers in protest of their authoritarian government takeover and destruction of the country as a republic

In a recent podcast Bannon is saying(as he has done over the years) the quiet thing out loud….that Cheeto will deploy the military to polling locations in the midterms to intimidate voters in hopes of suppressing voter turnout under the guise that he needs to be sure that the elections are “safe and not rigged”

So this Nazi voter suppression playbook is, as it was in 2024, a multipronged approach Peter Thiel will show up with his Palantir software to delegitimize voters by Vigilante methods used successfully in 2024(bit.ly/41UelTx); gerrymander in Texas and others(Indiana, Florida, Ohio); as in 2024 in some way affect voting machine tabulations with the help of Thiel’s buddy Elon Musk, the infamous South African apartheid brologarch duo; even potentially affect ballots as they did in Rockland county New York; alter mail in voting either through executive order or using the postal service; and other yet unknown tactics

Keep up the protests and WE the People need to remain vigilant to all of the above

Thanks for being the voice of reason! The current efforts being expended seem fragmented. There's a lot of talk, bits of action, lots of frustration, but the lightning rod for action has not yet jolted the masses. What's it gonna take to get Americans fighting this takeover? We've heard statements like "sleep-walking into fascism" - sure feels like it. I contribute time, money, sign petitions, show up at protests... and then what? Your question is well placed! Will Americans fight back?

As of now I will never step into a Cracker Barrel because it decided to cave into Trump and kiss his ass. At least that is what Trump is boasting about. And that goes for a lot of companies, no more Target, Home Depot, Chick-a-Felet, Hardies, McDonald, etc. etc, etc.

I honestly don't know what's going on with you and your recent posts and podcasts, Michael. I follow you. I like you. I appreciate your "take" on most topics. But, lately I'm getting a sense of despair that is unsolved. I've heard you repeatedly say, "It's not who votes, it's who counts the votes". Trump and his criminal administration is setting us all up for an election in 2026 filled with corruption and violence. The 2026 election is being set up right now for all sorts of rigging. Election protests will be met with violence. Flag burning will be a crime. The American people HAVE NO VOICE with this type of planning. So, is your "apathy" comment really based on knowledge of rigging capabilities?

Sharing this is fine but, firstly I don’t have a budget that allows me to indulge in substack and 2nd, I don’t agree that democrats just care about their donors and not their constituents. I live in MD, home to Jamie Raskin, Chris VanHollen, Kwasi Mfume and others. It’s an uphill battle when fighting against apathetic & Trump loyalty majority in both houses &, thirdly, how are you fighting beyond words?

'Every country gets the government it deserves' might not always be true, but in this case it is. Does Trump et al play fair? NO! Do they get away with it? YES. How do they do it? They (Project 2025 plus a bunch of tech billionairs) were extremely well prepared where Dems, as usual, trusted on their moral and intellectual superioriority. BIG MISTAKE!

I don't know Newsom well, but his atitude so far is what it takes to fight fire with fire. Because that's the language the majority of the people, from left to right, understand.

I agree. I've been to 4 protests this year. Many cars go by and honk or wave enthusiasticaly, but more of them need to get out there with us.

This is a numbers game in which huge numbers of people protesting on the streets provides a more accurate view of the opposition to this regime.

It takes action and visibility, not just posting & honking.

I read this: “…a third of the population could kill another third of the population, while the remaining third watched.”

“Forty-four percent of America [maybe in the 30%, say some polls, but still at least l/3 of US] consistently returns to Trump and Trumpism. Isn’t it possible—isn’t it likely?—that they have done so again and again over the better part of a decade because they want to be right were we are? With an authoritarian strongman?” (From JVL, The Bulwark, Substack)

THIS IS WHAT WE MUST FACE!
