Comedy is good for other things than just for a cathartic release of tension and stress ( ”laughter as therapy” ).

It can teach us in a way that helps us remember. Inform and provoke us to think. To think critically.

My thought as well but, I'm afraid CBS would pull the plug early. But then we would know it was political move and not financial as they are claiming.

Expand full comment
Mary Rickards's avatar

We already know it's a political move. He should go all in with his razor sharp comedy, bring in the big stars and comedians, and give one hell of a show, every show! Don't hold back! And I hope another network scoops him up! His show was the highest rated show at that hour, anyone would be smart to have him.

Expand full comment
ramona j's avatar

Exactly. I want him to just stay and keep his job! It's spiteful and childish ,never mind political. Everything in life can't be based on political beliefs. Im sick of this BS.

TRUMP is so spiteful, he will make this a huge distraction and use Stephen as a pawn for his insulting propaganda 🙄

Whatever Stephen does, should be his choice. IMHO, as a life long Late Show fanatic.

FUCK THEM... WALK.

I also make it a point to call folks like AOC,, Bernie, Raskin, and tell them how much I appreciate them. And sadly, it sure seems when I talk to someone they are really really appreciative of my call..I guess they get a lot of hate calls. I used to call Murkowski and thank her for standing up for democracy, but she screwed up big time with her budget vote and can never undo that and now I call and tell her staff that. I am not a constituent, but I had always contributed to her campaigns as she always seemed reasonable, and I felt we needed more reasonable women in Congress...boy was I wrong. About her being reasonable, not about needing more reasonable women in Congress.

It’s unbelievable that the Tiffany network has sabotaged everything for this conman. They have destroyed 60 Minutes and it’s 60 years of journalism excellence. And now they have destroyed what David Letterman and Stephen Colbert have done in late night. Stephen should move to streaming, it’s where the audience is watching media now and Meidas would be a great option.

Didn't take a Rocket Scientist to see what happened with Colbert, they made no efforrt to hide it and it is the message to us all that the USA is now the UST, United States of Trump and Republicans have made sure that Trump has total control. Everything I knew about the USA, Freedom and Democracy is now gone and it is only time before we all have to carry papers like Nazi Germany. In 67yrs I saw this happen around the World but thought it could never happen here but I never imagined that an entire Political Party would surrender ALL it power in government to the man that is Single Handedly the Biggest Failure in US History. This time, he will not just bankrupt himself, again, he will take us all down with him.

All four of my grandparents were immigrants from Europe. They wanted a better life. My father and all my uncles were in the armed forces (army mostly, 1 navy, and 1 coast guard) during WWII. They were antifa before that word was invented. They fought fascists so our country would remain free. One uncle was so shell-shocked (the word used before PTSD was coined) that he spent the rest of his life in a VA hospital in Chillicothe Ohio). I saw him only 4 times.

ICE is trump's GESTAPO.
