Grifting to turn grief into grievance, manipulating the many’s mourning, Donald Trump solicits rage that he can exploit for violence. It is Trump who demonizes the left. He does not seek to quench the Nation’s anger, he seeks to inflame the moment, stoking the fire. It is he and Kirk that traded in violent rhetoric. They monetized it like the money changers they are. They gaslighted the rest of us whenever a fire broke out, and they simultaneously fanned those flames while pouring the gasoline on the fire. History dictates the shooter be a Republican. Have you paid attention at all to the last decade? https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/bilious-hate-mongering?r=3m1bs

Probably not ALWAYS white Republicans. I’m sure somebody could come up with (at least one or two?) examples of shooters who were not white republicans. My point is that we should refrain from using the word “always” because that can be a divisive word that gets some people riled up. We don’t need any more riled up people.

It's unfortunate that you have to say "white", put it in their faces, humiliate them. Anyways, if a black person attempted to come to their events, I am sure they would be profiled and watched very closely. Even though not the ones likely, statistically to attempt an assassination. Btw, did you hear that black universities were receiving bomb threats prior to the assassin's arrest? I hope corporate media covered that news. It's getting to the point that the white man is so embolden that all black ppl in this country are in danger because of skin color. All good white ppl must speak up and out.

It's beyond disgusting that the FELON in our Whitehouse has once again stirred the racist pot again, again, and again. Will HE or HIS sycophants ever apologize? NEVER!!

From the beginning, the elected Governor and FBI/Police had turned their investigation into a 5 star ringed circus endangering other citizens along with "suspects" who weren't the perpetrators. These actions made this horrible death more dangerous for all and those who were initially released since they weren't involved.

Which caused others to harrass and threatened those who were released by right wingers, and MAGA followers.

(In NJ, the commercials that show Jack Ciattarelli that he's out of touch with what Candidate Mickie Sherril has proposed.

(Former U.S. Navy Pilot, Federal Prosecutor.) She already has a plan to address the high energy costs NJ residents are paying by going after these energy companies on day one!

Sorry to digress, but another commercial of his just aired.. 🤬 He's definitely a "MAGA" in sheeps clothing just as these commercials say! He's run for so many other offices over the years and lost! 🤫🤫)

This investigation into C. Kirk's shooting was more like watching the old F Troop TV show.

C. Patel alleging he solved this case was laughable since this poor young man's Father is the one who phoned a friend who was formally a Sheriff and along with the Pastor turned his own son in, not Patel! The comments about no rioting said by UT Governor was assinine and definitely out of place!

Sounds more like a speech to "Küss meinen Arsch" (German

phrase) in the Whitehouse!

Civics and American History should be mandatory and taught in school.

I remember history classes taught in lower grade school and starting around third grade through high school. Otherwise in America, we could be doomed to repeat these bad acts forever! Never mind the phrase used by many "Thoughts & prayers!" This seems like a lazy phrase to acknowledge this bad act, but never ever solves these needless deaths. HINT, HINT for GOP members) The solution is easy. No one with a prior felony, temporary restraining order (TRO), or final restraining order (FRO) should own a gun. These pop up gun shows in many States or cases allows some to illegally buy a gun(s). Perhaps more ATF agents or detectives should be onsight to monitor these gun shows for compliance.

Enough already!

Thank you for bringing us all factual political news as always. 😕

Yours is a healthy reaction, rejecting hate and lies, because when you accept them, they cause you damage. It takes a lot of effort to hear the hate and lies that spew from Trump's mouth, identify each lie, each phrase of hate so you can categorize them and effectively create a firewall from them and your associations to any of the facts of the case.

I find it easier to read the transcripts first, analyze them, THEN I can hear the speech and know already what are lies, and how he spreads the hate. It is also revealing the techniques he uses, such as starting to say something, so you anticipate what he is saying and before you can analyze and identify it as BS he has already cut that short and changed to a radically different subject. Sounds like he is fragmented in his thinking, but it is too consistent (at least when he was younger, in his first term). The result is you have established the association in your mind that he wanted to place there, but did not have time to attach other associations to it such as labelling it BS. So it sits there, unanalyzed, accepted and your perspective has been shifted.

I saw some of Trump's early speeches in 2015 (on TV) and noticed he was using a technique known by con-men and 'mentalists' as a "cold read" where he was both strategically ambiguous, so people could choose to believe what they wanted to believe, but he also used the technique where he starts to say something and if it is wrong he immediately backs out before the audience is even aware they were objecting to it. If it is done quick enough, the audience thinks he changed directions before their objection was made, and if the audience responds positively to what he said, he doubles down on it, being more assertive. If he was committed to the statement by the time the reaction was clearly negative, he brushes it off as a joke. Saw all this many times. It is why he had so many rallies, both to 'persuade' (using cult recruitment techniques) and to refine his agenda because he had no 'philosophy of governing' of his own.

Yeah, except Trump was never shot. Immediately after the shooting, the theory was put forward that a shard from the teleprompter had cut Trump, which was very quickly debunked because the cameras could show all the teleprompters were still intact. No one has ever come up with a theory of how a bullet from that rifle could cause such a minimal injury on Trump's ear.

Trump has a fair bit of experience 'back stage' in the world of Pro-Wrestling, where 'cutting' your ear is a classic technique to create a low of blood without any real damage, to increase the image that great violence is happening. The young man was a Trump follower (per available reporting) and a good enough shot to deliberately miss Trump. Note that the miraculous picture of the bullet is very much not clear on how far from Trump it was. Was also clearly not connecting with his ear. We do not see any blood until Trump rises from the floor.

The Doctors were quickly silenced on reporting ANYTHING to the press and we still have not heard from the doctors about the injury. Every time we saw the big gauze on Trump's ear, it was pristine white, with no sign of blood. I have been hurt more than a few times in my life and those things show the blood very quickly, if there is more than a drop. Realistically he did not need that Gauze after the first day, if that long. In general you want to let the wound 'breath'. it was all a 'show' which the shooter 'sold' by shooting other people, including killing a man. Trump did his best to sell it too, but everything from the fist pump to the cut ear was staged, and not very well.

By the way, yes, Trump is complicit in the murder of that Fireman protecting his family, who Trump used as a prop at his nominating Convention. Do you REALLY think Trump would not commit that crime if it helped keep him out of jail, which is what he was facing at the time.

And does anyone doubt Trump and his evil cabal would pull this off to win an election? It is a sick cult.

Excellent synopsis of that #StagedAF fiasco. Interestingly, why have we NEVER heard anything from or about his parents or any other family members? Why doesn’t tfg say anything EVER about his alleged assassin? That 20 year old young guy, Thomas Matthew Crooks, is a scapegoat and pawn in the game of politricks that tfg and his moron minions are playing at the US’ expense. It’s truly disheartening to watch as these criminals posing as politicians systemically dismantle the US federal government and 250 years of American Democracy because they have figured out how to exploit the faults in our system. Democracy - government of, for, and by the people is NOT a perfect system, but our American Democracy has set a precedence for the world. Diverse groups of people can live and thrive together with the proper leadership, policies, laws, and support structures. The criminals who have stolen the White House and Congress are too naive and vain to see that, governance, is more important than power. We MUST and Need to VOTE them ALL OUT! Power to the People!!

Douglas Gilligan's avatar

Observed by reporters immediately after and while the crime scene was not yet destroyed. Again, like with the ear 'wound', very hard for a tiny shard to be broken off by a high speed rifle bullet and sent flying in the same path as the bullets were flying.

Rather than focus on the tiniest remote possibility of a one in a billion chance occurance, I suggest to focus on what would be a simplest explanation. Remember Trump had means, motive, opportunity and a long criminal history. GIven his constant lies, I suggest it is on Trump to provide evidence to disprove the simpler explanation for what happened. His 'simple word' has no value after all these years.

Kudos to his father for turning him in. But he was probably the one who gave him his first gun.

The firearm cult is a sickness.

It’s astounding how deep the firearm cult is in examples of families like this one…yes, I agree his father turning him in is remarkable and had to be difficult. Kudos

I am in full agreement with everything that you said. I will say though, that sometimes parents can’t stop what their children if they figure out what’s happening too late. There are also times when the parents themselves are training their kids to be just like they are.

Still, their son’s life is never going to be what they hoped it would be and that is hard.

Read Ron Filipowski 's daily report. This is what he quoted:

CBS: “The father of the 22-year-old charged in the Charlie Kirk killing saw the photos released by authorities and confronted his son. Robinson admitted to his dad that he was the person in the photos. His father urged him to turn himself in, but the son said he'd rather commit suicide. The father called a pastor who knows the son; the pastor called the US Marshals and other law enforcement agencies.”

Their politics groomed their kid. A primary goal of vast numbers of parents. I wonder why the father felt a need to consult with their Mormon minister before turning their kid in.

Support from a minister might be as simple as saying you are doing the right thing.

Can you even imagine how awful it would be for a father to turn in his own son? The father had to be devastated to even think about it and probably needed support to "do his duty". A shoulder to cry on, support that he was doing the right thing?

Recriminations, where did I go wrong? As Kate said, maybe he gave his son the first gun. What if I had not taught him how to shoot? Think of all the things that father has to be feeling and none of them good.

I welcome self introspection that leads to widespread changes but many of these MAGA cult members have gone beyond that capacity. I don’t view parenthood as being sacred and that all offspring should admire those who gave birth to them. Many people view such a position as being heretical.

I don't think it's heresy. Becoming a parent only requires having sex. Nothing more. Parents do not automatically command respect. They must also earn it. Many people are lousy parents.

TY No, I didn't see the report. That is now the 3rd different report made. I saw another one that said the minister saw the photos and called the father.

Kind of reminds of the game we used to play called Telephone.

I guess I will settle on the father and the pastor convinced Tyler to turn himself in. When the trial takes place I guess we will be sure about the sequence of events.

One of two plausible reasons:

1) Kirk wouldn't stop talking about the epstein files and was possibly paid to do this.

2) He's an accelerationist that knew Kirk's death would outrage MAGA.

I would not be surprised by either given the acceleration issue I've listened to on tiktok and the whole trump assassination "attempt". History repeats itself.

Exactly what I was wondering… here’s my comment: That’s some headline. They arrested someone, but is he really the killer? It had to be a professional job—1 bullet from a distance; and wasn’t Kirk advocating for complete release of the Epstein files?

Expand full comment
Cathy's avatar

A single, long-range shooting clearly indicates this wasn't a random act. Coupled with Kirk's demand for the release of Epstein's documents, it's hard not to suspect a connection. Arresting someone is one thing, but proving they were the true mastermind or just a scapegoat is another. This case requires a thorough and transparent investigation.

Interesting label… What is an “accelerationist” exactly? I have never seen the term before & I read a lot of, well, everything, but sad to say, lately, I’ve had to consume too much news media & alternative media sources (also unfortunately, because the main-stream media sources are doing such a poor job of accurately reporting the news, I do believe they’re afraid of Trump’s & MAGA’s threats, that alternative media is more often correctly & accurately reporting the facts).

So, does “accelerationist” mean the same as “Doomsday cult”, as in believing that accelerating biblical myths about the “Rapture” & the “End Times” (stuff written extensively in the book & video series by Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins in the fictional ‘Left Behind’ series? This is what I’m assuming that you are referring to.

Thank you. It is a more succinct term to use to mean those who look for the break-down of Culture & Society in the furtherance of their ideologies. “Doomsday” means more religious or biblically based, I assume, as in the popular ‘Left Behind’ fictionalization of biblical passages in their attempt to bring about the ‘End of the World’, where ‘True Christian’s’ are “raptured” into Heaven before those left behind (‘Left Behind’ is another similar series of fictionalization biblical-referenced stories). This is the group who Trump flatters & hands-out small tokens of favor - such as Supreme Court Justice appointments who are anti-abortion & believers in the Christian Nationalist ideology. As you pointed out, there are other groups who look forward to an ‘End Times’, but it isn’t necessarily about a religious-based ideology. A good term: accelerationist!
