We need to address the fact that our Seniors have the same issues with a “living wage” from their Social Security that we’ve paid into for years. The COLA never is enough for inflation and it gets completely eaten up by the Medicare adjustment every damn year, and it’s not right to do that to our Seniors. I’d love to see you talk THIS please. This comment is made to animate the filibuster topic because it's thorny and needs a rich debate amongst US. WE put the Democrats in power, now how do WE want to use it. WE the People want our lives better not whether bipartisan benefit for the political parties.
National petitions are circulating to push Schumer to get lost and so he's on MSNOW with his old buddy O'Donnell and NYT's Michael Barbaro on NPR lobbying the audience for the job but nowhere has this issue been brought up. Schumer who is Jewish knows that getting rid of the filibuster potentially means that AIPAC and Israel may be sent packing. That would be a concern for a Democratic Establishment guy who is supported by that PAC $$. WE don’t know how Schumer feels about the filibuster because no one has asked him the radioactive question. Indivisible National which helped bring about the Blunami is soliciting support for getting rid of the filibuster.
I think the most cogent argument is that WE live in a democracy so let's live by that principle that the majority rules. In the Senate that means 51 votes not 60. Colom is about to win in Mississippi by the slimmest of margins and Fetterman won his first political campaign for mayor by 1 vote, supporting the idea the simple majorities should win elections.
In the end the filibuster makes the Senate a real boondoggle and Congress not fully functional for doing the will of WE the People who are frustrated by Congress not doing their job.
When Republicans get into power which is the fear let them pass what they want to but WE the People have the power at the ballot box. Call your Senators and demand to see the filibuster removed(202.224.3121).

Another potential radioactive topic - the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. I believe we should strongly encourage states that have a new Democratic trifecta in their governments to join this. The American president should be elected by the people - one person, one vote. Not some 250-year old compromise that is no longer applicable in our diverse, modern nation.

For coming through this authoritarian nightmare with a stronger democracy and fairer society, Dems should take three foundational steps. (Credit: Robert Hubbell, Substack)
1. Pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
2. Pass anti-gerrymandering legislation.
3. Overhaul the Supreme Court (at least 17 justices and an Ethics Code, which justices can be forced to sign by Congress withholding funding for SCOTUS).
All three will require abolishing the filibuster.
With a trifecta in 2029, pass and enact the above laws that were in all likelihood vetoed by Trump in 2027 and 2028.
Truly remarkable and undeniably putrid the malignant, repugnant, selfish and incompetent group of officials in Trump's administration. You would think that after all the failures he would look for some new and capable blood instead of recycling the same sad fools. I suppose he is much too vain to place a brilliant official since he would no longer be the sharpest pencil in the room.
Speaking of rooms, the Oval Office needs to be undone as soon as he is gone. It is now a total embarrassment to our nation. More like a gaudy display concocted to please someone's senile grandmother with cheap purchases left over from a Woolworth's home decor aisle.

If no one gets punished for trashing our country in so many ways with lies, greed, grift, and graft, then I have to believe that they are all dirty as hell. I want the administration to be brought to justice along with the tech bros for being abject and open traitors to our country and constitution. I want judicial blood letting. They deserve it and we need it. ASAP! Yesterday is most preferable. I want the Epstein files in all their unredacted glory! I want answers to 9/11! Republicans soil and Democrats clean up! It's time to go after all bad actors and cut financial ties to Israel! Israel hates Christians and is destroying Biblical sites and churches in additio to genocide. Out, out, OUT! We need an enema, a facial, mani pedi, and a good shower. Right now we stink!
