I pray and wait for the day our country returns some type of “normalcy” where Congress debates pertinent issues, and we have a President who leads without corruption and lawlessness, as well as a United States Supreme Court that rules in a non political manner.

Thanks MidasTouch for keeping up the fight and those of us who care about democracy enlightened on the truth.

Geoffrey Fox's avatar

I could not agree with you more. We need to eliminate big money from politics, term limits, and we need to make sure amendments to our Constitution are put in place so this never happens again. We are a young country and we are learning. Others learned hundreds to thousands of years ago and we are forced to learn in a time when social Mendoza of all kinds is spewing falsehoods hourly.

I watched Ben interview some Republicans who say they will vote to open the records despite Trump's sometimes personal threats. E.G. NYT this morning. Trump Cuts Ties With Marjorie Taylor Greene, Calling Her ‘Wacky’. "The rupture exposed the divides within President Trump’s MAGA base over the Epstein files and more."

Before the it's sent to the senate for a vote, during "discovery" the House can call witnesses, including senators if they are "material". Turns out that Murkowski, whose deciding vote killed the measure in the Senate, had some connection to Epstein/Maxwell!

Some of us hope that the vote on the Trumpepstein discharge petition next week can lead to a complete restructuting ala a variation on the Jerry Weiss scenario. https://jerryweiss.substack.com/

The real issue is whether Dems can hold hearings, call witnesses, as a predicate to show even right wing Republicans how bad it is. At least in theory Congressional Republicans would not want to implicate themselves in crimes.

The false narrative that is being put out by the Republican party has now crashed with reality. Trump's fantasy world is no longer sustainable and it is literally crumbling before his eyes. Reality will always eventually reign over the lies and mistruths. However the destruction to our government and our institutions will take a long time to fix. If anything trumpism has shown us some major flaws in our democratic system and our way of governing. We have the opportunity to fix them once we get rid of trump.

Robert Garmon's avatar

I think you just spoke for all of us who escaped the MAGA virus and stuck to our principles.

My thoughts exactly.

When Republicans turn back to Jesus again, THEN normalcy (= the US Constitution and democracy and progress for the 99%) will be back.

If it’s a hoax why is it being investigated?

nobody special's avatar

I keep asking that question as well lol. Maybe the Orange Monster is hoping Bubba has a darker stain than he? Lol

Elle's avatar

First, there were those pesky “alternative facts” in 2016 which have evolved into this “altered reality” in 2025. One younger cousin by at 40+ years announced that he truly believed women should stay at home and listen to their husbands. His cousin of about the same age told me the same—the first telling me this in front of his own mother whose husband (his dad) died tragically when he was a teenager.

The other said this without her mother present. She tragically lost her dad before even becoming a teenager. So, I asked my cousin what they should do if they didn’t have a husband and was told, “I guess they will have to go out and find a new one.” This is what those three darling girls of his will hear, too unless he sees things differently. I’m so enlightened that there are still people in our country who still believe in the truth.

Mike Hammer's avatar

Yes, the Kellyanne Conway alternative facts and the Rudolf Giuliani truths are not truths. I’m also thinking that since they initiated an investigation, they can’t disclose what they are investigating.

Elle's avatar

The way they wrote those other indictments where the judges had to peer out over their spectacles when looking at them, makes me wonder.

Lucian Truscott, Stacey Patton, The Mighty, and Legal AF have kept me sane! Without all you amazing Authors and Podcasters I would be alone in Red Ass TN. Luckily I am in Memphis, the winds are indeed changing here!

Candace Lucas's avatar

please give us more information. we need to hear that the winds are changing in the red territories.

Robert Garmon's avatar

Hi, Candace. That’s an excellent question. Here in purple NC, I couldn’t swear that the wind has changed among his loyalists, but they sure have calmed down. They are almost eerily quiet.

I can’t tell if the storm is over or if we’re in the eye of the hurricane awaiting the next round of damaging winds. It’s a little disconcerting as to what might be about to happen.

I’m hopeful that it’s just losing all its bluster and is fizzling out. Then comes the job of cleaning up the horrendous mess left behind.

Robert Garmon's avatar

I’m certainly not seeing Taliban-looking pickup trucks with a large Confederate flag proudly waving on one side and a Trump flag on the other. That alone has to be a step in a better direction.

Barb Chapman's avatar

Yes!! I haven't seen any of those lately in RED KY!!!

Mariantoon's avatar

Yes!! Less loud flag waving pickup trucks in RED MT. I'm noticing less flags waving at peoples homes too. I still have my upside down flag in my window. Epstein Epstein Epstein! Dirty don!!

Candace Lucas's avatar

I’ve heard that the plethora of trump signs have mostly disappeared an a lot of areas. And defiance of trump is growing. Indiana legislature just refused to redistrict even when pressured by their maga governor.

Susan Raquel's avatar

I live in a very red, small county in Northern CA. Haven't seen signs nor flags in a while. Going to be interesting to see the reaction re SNAP recipients having to re-apply. Found that many of the posters on Next Door are red and on SNAP.

Candace Lucas's avatar

I have to wonder how many of those who must reapply are going to have issues submitting due to lack of transportation or lack of sufficient education.

Susan Raquel's avatar

Transportation here is a really big issue. If you don't have a car there is the bus; but, it's very limited in where it goes. There is Uber; but, I doubt that the SNAP recipients can afford that.

I think another big issue is going to be whether or not there are sufficient staff to handle such a deluge of 40 million people re-applying. Since there have been all of the layoffs. If they can register online how quickly are the sites going to crash because of the sheer numbers of people applying?

There will likely be the same result as usual, chaos and people lost in the storm.

Teri Gelini's avatar

He’s sending troops into Charlotte and they being NASCAR capital of the world I do not think it will go over well. Just like he’s sending troops to New Orleans. What is he thinking??

Sylvia Sewell's avatar

He doesn’t think, acts on impulse. Whatever the orange mass in his brain decides to do is what he says or does.

Teri Gelini's avatar

He functions solely on impulse, no pre planning or thought...

Angela Shipman's avatar

he thinks this country is his to do with what he pleases...no no thought, no nothing...you got that right

Robert Garmon's avatar

I wonder also. I believe he’s trying to ignite a violent reaction so that he can enjoy seeing his Gestapo funded by our taxes kill resistant Americans. He will then inflict martial law to one extent or another, perhaps nationwide. That is ultimately what I believe he is itching to do. Whether he is going to continue to have MAGAmuricans enthusiastically standing in his corner as he terrorizes Americans that he deems as his enemies will determine his fate.

Judi Purcell's avatar

I really can't 'like' this thought but I am afraid you are absolutely correct. His goal is to destroy us all.

Sue Stjohn's avatar

I've said all along that he is seeking revenge on the American people because he lost the 2020 election. His words were " I'm your retribution ". His last fiasco with SNAP of which is layed out in Project 2025 also proves his desire to hurt people.

Angela Shipman's avatar

I agree...destroy us all to save himself...

Sylvia Sewell's avatar

There should be an “agree” option.

Barb O's avatar

He couldn't get mostly white people to take the bait to riot over ICE like he wanted them to. Going into the South, into a city that has immigrants from many different countries and a history of racial issues, is most likely meant to try to stir the pot more. New Orleans, though? They know how to party. I hope they will take the same tack as Portland when it comes to protesting. Only their costumes might end up being more risque than a green frog.

Kevin Lawrence's avatar

I think about the challenges we face trying to put a Constitutional government back to as close as possible to the Preamble's Spirit of the Law. I will do what it takes to live up to my sacred promise I vowed when I enlisted to serve the Constitution.

Susan Weir's avatar

I’m in NC as well. I’ve noticed a, ummm, damping down of the rhetoric but not it’s not gone. The lack of SNAP benefits, losing jobs, no farm labor, and soybeans either rotting in the field or sitting in warehouses, all is having an impact. And Gov. Stein, bless him, keeps beating the drum, but against the gop supermajority he’s hobbled. MTN, the Gov. could use some of your kind of help….

Barb O's avatar

It's up to the people to do the work. There is no white knight. Small protests will grow larger. If you want to save your state, you have to.

Elle's avatar

Not Virginia F or Ted B or most in the state legislature. The light comes from our governor state AG and a few others.

Jean Conley's avatar

It's so thrilling and enlightening to see your comment, Robert, and those of you whose comments are below mine. (Especially from the "red" state residents.) Gives me hope that we can stop this crap and restore our republic/democracy to what it once was.

Robert Garmon's avatar

I don’t like the thought either. I know how you feel.

Barb O's avatar

Indiana, a Republican state, decided not to redistrict. It's a start.

Everyone Calls me Mel!'s avatar

Less flags and bumper stickers I live off of I 40. A couple of the Trump supporters in our neighborhood took their flag down! I know it is just my observation but•••

Kevin Lawrence's avatar

Me, too. The hardest nut to crack for me is to somehow have my relatives and friends to WAKE UP and listen to the MT Network.

Angela Shipman's avatar

they'll wake up in their own time, maybe not at all...but that's on them...they decide their own fate...sad, but true...

Thanks. I love the early morning smell of a demagogue self destructing.

Wow is it good to hear that the winds are changing...I'm in Missouri and the winds are pretty still here sort of...every time the voters vote for something good for the state the legislators just ignore it and undo the legislation...so we have to work extra extra hard. I love Tennessee and used to visit often and hope things will change so I will want to again visit (for those who have never been there it is beautiful!!!!)

You can see the Epstein emails are tearing this evil regime apart. The whole country and the world is watching this regime unravel and it’s just a matter of time before it all blows apart. They can’t use lies, blame, or, deceit anymore because the truth is staring them in the face.

No one is above the law!

Ben, speaking truth to power is a powerful weapon and you use it wisely and backup the facts with receipts. You are doing a tremendous job. Keep up the good work.

Mtg(of all people) a WOMAN isn't intimidated by trump unlike the males in the Republican party. What a damn shame they were born males.

Barb O's avatar

Do you hear yourself?

JB's avatar

It's easy to remember " the Epstein files". But it's a distraction too. Remberctrump signing into law about giving Qater a base in Idaho? Don't forget that the Qateri training base is in Mountain Home, ID, & is at the same location America stores it's nuclear waste & excess weapons grade nuclear material. It's also just a few hundred miles north of the Nevada nuclear bomb test areas. Trump is giving terrorists access to and training on nuclear bombs on American soil.

This is ground shattering news everyone should be talking about. Imagine if you have a national police force, elite military in every state capital & national capital, & a foreign nuclear power at your disposal. Now, add a new bunker under the white house & trillions of dollars hidden all around the world & you own several private 747s.

Something I can see happening is MTG sitting down for an interview with Ben and I didn’t have on my 2025 bingo card. I don’t trust her, but hopefully this whole fight does damage to MAGA.

Concerned Citizen's avatar

I keep trying to give MTG the benefit of the doubt. Jury is still out in my mind. But I am glad she’s standing up to the orange felon.

James Wilson's avatar

Her attacks on the Parkland victims for example makes it extremely hard for me to think this is genuine.

Sylvia Sewell's avatar

I think she has changed sides. She would not have dared demand Epstein files be opened otherwise. Too much on the line for her if she did.

James Wilson's avatar

We can hope that there is one less MAGAt in the world. It will take time to see if she’s for real.

Susan Raquel's avatar

I don't think she has changed sides. I do think that she is LISTENING to her constituents. There was noise that she wants to run for the Senate and this may be a positive that increases her chances of succeeding.

Will be another opportunity to sit back with a bag of homemade popcorn.

Dennywit Troubledoer's avatar

Rep. Greene (R- GA14) has often been “wacky”, though, and it would be precipitous to imagine that her realizations and congruence with desirable outcomes suggests she has abandoned racism and cruelty which characterize her recent past statements and actions…

Trump here would also be in congruence with positive goals if he mounted a well-funded primary opponent.

What Democratic values could persuade GA-14??

And:

This was originally intended as reply to another specific comment. Now i see this thread is full of comments on Meidas funding. Oh, well.

Substack is expensive, because the solo model is expensive.

I can get New Yorker, Atlantic, Nation, and Jacobin, even at full sub price which i don’t pay, for a lot less than just ten Substack annuals.

I haven’t had a cable bill since my since went to college, (2009).

I pay my local phone company (i know most people dont have that) for fiber IP. I pay alphabet 14$ /mo for yt.

The issues that almost every district needs to start with is cost of living. Almost everyone is hurting financially and if he you appeal to them with solutions, you’ve started the conversation with them. Not everyone is willing to vote Democrat, but it’s start. And all good commenting on this thread.

Sexual predators, Pedophiles never stop. Whoever is in the files should be exposed. There are photos, videos, emails other documentation. Epstein, Trump both deal/dealt in blackmail. Illicit knowledge is very powerful.

They stop when they are locked up -- if they survive the other inmates.

Sheila's avatar

Reading this and my bank popped up with a note that my Meidas Touch subscription had just been paid. I do love a bit of coincidence.

I was also pondering on whether Trumps concern about Epstein is as much about the information about his finances and links with Russia (he’s so obviously indebted to Putin) that he fears coming into the open.
