SPEAKER 4
As we become the front lines of resistance to fascism here at the Midas Touch Network, knowledge is power. So what I need to alert you of are all of the potential threats that are emanating from the Trump administration, what they're going to do, not to scare us, but so we can be proactive.
0:24
Where can we file legal challenges? Where can we community organize? Who do we need to get the word out to? Do we need to warn someone in a specific area? We're gonna be doing these bulletins each and every day to keep you fully informed.
0:39
We will then assess the level of threat for each of these specific incidents that we're covering. And we're gonna do this each and every day, again, because knowledge is power. I think here's something that we need to talk about. Remember last week, as Mehdi Hassan says,

Daily Bulletin of Trump Threats and Resistance - 11/7/24

As fascism rises, MeidasTouch Network's Ben Meiselas delivers urgent updates on Trump's extreme agenda and how to fight back.

This morning, the MeidasTouch Network has introduced a new daily bulletin outlining the latest threats posed by Donald Trump and the resistance efforts we must undertake. Let’s be clear: this MeidasTouch community is now the front lines of resistance to fascism. It’s time to get to work.

Meidas+ is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support our work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

In our first daily bulletin, we laid out key areas where Trump's administration is likely to act aggressively. Trump's team, including controversial figures like Brian Hook, is preparing to overhaul the State Department with hawkish policies targeting Palestine, a direct betrayal of Trump's promises to Dearborn's Muslim community. Trump’s plans include not only bulldozing Palestinian land but privatizing it for personal gain. The MeidasTouch community must spread this message, especially to those who might have supported Trump under false pretenses.

Another chilling aspect of Trump’s agenda is its aim to dismantle vital social programs, including Social Security and health care, while gutting environmental protections. Trump’s administration is preparing to terminate thousands of federal employees, replacing them with loyalists, and revoke popular laws like the CHIPS and Infrastructure Acts, which have generated jobs nationwide. In times like this, knowledge is power. Legal challenges and community organizing must ramp up to counteract these measures.

Trump’s embrace of extreme figures like Nick Fuentes, who openly promote misogynistic rhetoric, must be further emphasized to the public. Trump's anti-abortion stance has disillusioned voters who once believed he would protect reproductive rights, showing a stark disconnect between Trump’s rhetoric and actions. Moreover, Trump’s health czar pick, RFK Jr., known for his anti-vaccine stance, threatens to disrupt health policy by banning vaccines, removing fluoride in water and dismantling the FDA’s leadership.

Trump's aides have already reiterated their immigration agenda, which includes mass deportations, endangering families and communities with promises of violent enforcement. His tariffs and isolationist policies threaten to trigger inflation, driving up everyday prices while undoing President Biden's successful efforts to control it.

Trump’s foreign policy poses a global threat, with Trump's intent to cut U.S. support for Ukraine, potentially exit NATO, and strengthen ties with Putin's Russia. This shift has been met with cheers from Russian officials, underscoring the severity of Trump's foreign policy goals.

Despite the gravity of these threats, we must remain engaged in active resistance. Fascism thrives when people back down. We must never back down. Now is the time to spread awareness, and support each other in this community as we stand against rising authoritarianism.

Watch our full daily bulletin ad-free above, exclusively here on Meidas+. Thank you for your continued support of the MeidasTouch Network. If you appreciate our reporting and remain in this fight, please consider becoming a paid subscriber today to keep us going.

I await the buyer’s remorse. Arab Americans delivered Michigan to Trump. I empathize with the anger, but the short-sightedness astounds me. Trump supports seizing land near the West Bank and his son-in-law wants to develop Gaza. Hispanic males helped swing multiple states because they could not support a woman leader. How soon will they will realize to Miller all “brown” people are illegal.

Sorry, guys. Still too angry to be helpful

Yes, it's my one consolation in all of this, I TRIED to tell them Jared wanted to level the place and put up beach front condos, but nope. Sorry for the Palestinians' plight, but THOSE fools, absolutely deserve that buyer's remorse, they just signed the death warrant of all those people they thought they were helping. I think along with the message that maintaining a democracy is YOUR job, maybe another message should be that no vote at all is better than a vote from ignorance.

Oh? Great, -rolls eyes- of this I was not aware, more to consider, though for my issues, at least for the present, access to a pharmacy, and pain medications alone would be as beneficial than anything doctors have done for me. No one will prescribe what I need here, but I know in Mexico I can get it, I ended up doing suboxone just for the pain relief, but I guess I'll be coming out of pocket for that at some point too.

As I said in another thread, I genuinely look forward to the look on their ignorant faces when it finally dawns on them just how badly they utterly screwed the pooch on this one.

Seems to me considering challenging anything through the courts will mostly be unsuccessful and the SC will only approve what trump wants. I hope other approaches will be more effective. At least with legal challenges maybe we can get some public awareness. Again, mainstream/corporate media may or may not give these legal challenges any play time but if they do, maybe that will help sway some voters for 2026 (if we still have elections then).

Because I had to leave the workforce early, my pension is missing 15 years of credits. I can’t and millions and millions of Americans won’t be able to survive. He talks about homeless people getting arrested…well, he’s going to cause millions to go homeless. There will be anarchy. I would love to send money across the border into the [soon to be former] US of A, but firearms are expensive in Canada and I do not intend to roll over.

Hopefully people stop pointing fingers at Kamala Harris: It was a vote of Trump or Not Trump, and they chose the path of least resistance … THEIR resistance. I feel that the non-conservatives in Canada reacted to this election result the same way one might feel when I friend gets a terminal diagnosis. The friend has 70+ days to live, and there is nothing you can do about it.

There may be an election in 2028, but I cannot foresee how or why Emperor Trump (or by his death, Emperor Vance), will ever allow one.

Yes we do have to get down to the grassroots and mobilize to educate people - too many people did not vote! Where are they? Who are they? Why did they not vote? How do we reach and motivate them to take action? The Democratic party desperately needs to address this and act upon it now. Trump is NOT what America is and does not represent 1/2 the country. More like 22% because of non-voters. This is not who America is - too many people did not vote for whatever reason - so Trump did not get over half of the country supporting him - more like 1/5th - So we can take heart in knowing that the majority still support the America we are - but why didn't they vote!!

Trump got 72.6 million votes, or 50.8%. Harris got 46.9 million votes, or 47.5%. The two candidates got 140.5 million votes, excluding 3rd party and people who didn't vote for the top of the ticket. This, 72.6 million voters is TWENTY-TWO% (22%) of 330 Million Americans. More than one-fifth and LESS THAN ONE-QUARTER of Americans elected Trump. So the "Who we are" talk goes out the window. Trump didn't get 51% of voters with less a quarter of American votes.

He got the young vote because of Reagan, Shapiro, kirkland... this is what votes see and the Republicans support them. The left who doesn't support any tells people to watch mainstream media. This is reply to your "Mourning in America" email.

This is utter armchair nonsense.  And just plain wrong-headed.

It was not Harris, Biden, campaign tactics, Afghanistan, etc. etc.  This election was never about issues, it was always about gut anger.  Highly privileged and pampered Americans were unhappy with how their lives have turned out.  This despite having every comfort, opportunity, and support system available virtually no where else in the world.  Their current unhappy lives are a sole consequence of their own acts and choices, but they don't want to accept that: it would mean regret and self-recrimination for their past actions, and it would mean they actually have to get off the couch and make a change now.  Far easier to find the "other" to blame for their false "misery."  MAGA is all about (Trump's) blaming of Others instead of accepting personal responsibility, fixing one's course of action, and moving on.  Your focus on "issues and bad strategies" is not only completely inaccurate, it is dangerously misleading for your viewers who want to understand what went wrong, what horror show is coming down the pike, and how to respond.

I personally welcome the suffering that’s about to come. Most Americans don’t really know what hardship and suffering is. But they’re about to find out. The fact is, most Americans are cruel and selfish people. The ONLY way this MAGAt nightmare ends is with their PERSONAL suffering. There is no other way to beat this thing.

Expand full comment
Mark's avatar

Once I thought similarly. But the way this works is that because this choice came from anger, when suffering strikes The Powers That Be simply redirect this new anger, and thus the blame for their suffering, at The Others. This tactic has worked well in Russia for over a century. It is what won this election despite a fantastic economy.

What do you suggest? What do you think went wrong?

Expand full comment
Mark's avatar

I don't have any real suggestions other than for those who worked hard on the campaign: take a break, rest up, reassess your moral priorities, and then decide what you want to do. As for what went wrong, the kind of analysis in "Mourning", (a common approach in all media), completely misses the point. Harris (whom I did not support initially) ran a stellar campaign. But this was not a normal campaign. To now go back and find fault in her approach/decisions, or even in the Biden administration, wrongly focuses on irrelevant "analysis" or even "blame" when Harris lost as a consequence of manufactured gut anger, not issues.

Yesterday, I woke up feeling almost paralyzed by the thought of tRump becoming a full-fledged dictator, especially if he builds his government around Project 2025. I realize that filing lawsuits alone might be futile in the face of such an oppressive system, but I’m not about to give up. I’m here to fight and want to get involved; it's just that lately, the intensity of it all feels overwhelming, and I’m still working through ongoing grief.

I’ve always been an optimist, but seeing the potential loss of essential rights—the cornerstones of citizenship like reproductive freedom, voting rights, Social Security, Medicare, and healthcare—is devastating. The thought of immigrants being forced out and our allies abandoned by stepping away from NATO is equally alarming. It’s hard not to feel that these vital freedoms, once so foundational, are now at risk, sacrificed by under-educated voters who may not have fully understood the stakes.

Thank you, Ben, for providing this space where we can safely voice our concerns. I’m committed to taking action and playing my part, but I’m still figuring out exactly how to contribute effectively going forward. With a leader openly hostile to any resistance, staying connected and informed is essential—but more importantly, we must learn how to fight back with unrelenting strength and strategy. Please show me the way.

Ben -- many things you've said I endorse, but I'm very disconsolate at the already-in motion and persistent erosion of the independence and the objectivity of the justice system. trump is happy to appoint young, inept but intensely loyal radicals (read: Aileen Cannon) to lifetime positions as federal judges which will make it harder and harder to access the Constitutional guardrails the Founders intended for the Judiciary.

And, OBTW, his appointment of Gorsich, Kavanaugh and Barrett will be followed in the next 4 years with a minimum of two additional politicized zealots to complete the descent of the Supreme Court (aka "The Roberts Court") to eventual irrelevance and act as the fully-politicized "judicial arm" of the fascist presidency and the GOP. They already have the lowest approval rating (by the public) perhaps in their history right now ... discarding their credibility with both hands in favor of political subservience will complete that descent.

SO, how are everyday folks going to access ANY potential guardrails to prevent the nation's decline as the wonderful experiment in democracy? The MAGAts and their Heritage Foundation enablers are steadily eroding those options so that there will soon be none. Frankly, I'll be surprised to see a "free and fair election" held in 2028, if there's an election at all.

In sum, our time as Reagan's "shining city on the hill" is drawing to a close and fascism will soon be the order of the day in this erstwhile democracy. We will be dragged back into an isolationist stance and become all that and less. NATO would be very well served and fully justified in expelling the US from its alliance (the Europeans already know trump sucks up to Putin, the adversary NATO is put in place to deter). Currently allied governments should look at how to void their economic and military ties to the US and help trump & Co achieve their isolation. They should also consider putting on significant tariffs onto US goods, making them more expensive and less appealing to foreign buyers.

I'm sorry that I'm so negative, but having spent 38 years of my life as an active duty military member, I've seen how democracies work and what happens when fascists come to power ... it NEVER ends well. The pernicious erosion of Constitution guardrails against authoritarianism will likely accelerate following Jan 20th and we as a nation will start on our descending path.

By the time the Americans who voted for trump realize what's happened, it'll be too late to change course because the mechanisms available will no longer exist.

I fight every single day for my daughters right to live.

After the results of this election we are faced with fear

for our daughter as she feels unsafe in a world who views being disabled make her not worthy of life based on MAGA Republicans claims about our disabled population.

The abject cruelty from these so called Americans knows no bounds.

She shouldn't have to prove her worth in this world of hate and violence.

I will fight for her every single day. Because no one else will.

Maga finally has their king…he is someone after their own hearts…he has many character flaws that obviously they haven’t seen but I’m sure they will eventually see and come to know….their king is someone who, pretends to be humble, is stubborn, is self-assured, is SELF-SEEKING and last but not least. has a way of blaming others to make himself look good (any of this sound familiar?)…. I’m sure all the Bible reading magas know what happened when the Israelites wanted a king to rule over them…perhaps each of them should re-read that story In the Bible, Old Testament, (this story would be in their Maga king’s Bible that he is grifting)…..here’s a little preview of the story ….the Israelites wanted a king, one that would unite them, give them a sense of security, and etc., so the Israelites got their king… King Saul….Saul united all the people, (unlike Maga’s king who caused division in our great country)…then God rejected Saul as King because Saul had only Saul’s best interests at heart and not the interests of the people (see the pattern here, sounds like Maga’s king) and so because of Saul’s heart, he rejected God’s personal instructions to him because Saul thought he was greater than he really was and thought he knew better than everyone else, including God….(again sounds like Maga’s king) …..eventually God replaced Saul (maybe Vance is waiting in the corner to invoke amendment 25 and declare the Maga king unfit, he does have all the proof he needs to do that, and it would be legal, then making himself king)…there’s more to King Saul’s story and his eventual demise, anyone can read rest of the story for themselves ,… there is always the possibility that the Maga king can be humbled BUT I doubt that….I say good luck to Maga with their new king…hope he is all and then some of what they wanted…and btw…he’s Maga’s king not mine…and never will be….

we have another option--

TO demand a hand recount beginning in Pennsylvania---

Please mobilize your supporters to start mobilizing phone calls and emails to all democratic governors, reps, senators and the white house--using the languaging:

We, the people, DEMAND a full audit and hand recount beginning in Pennsylvania and other blue wall and swing states. The corruption will be revealed thru a hand count.

All the numbers are wrong!

I cannot even watch you anymore because you all collapsed into fear and the wrong focus that we should have now. Please stop interpreting FALSE numbers and FALSE trends.

When we need to be demanding that the results be heavily deeply and professionally audited thru HAND RECOUNTS

of course the biggest computer techs and nations with that ability are all on Trump's side.

They can easily engineer an undetectable virus that flips a blue wave into a red wave.

WAKE UP and demand the solution!

Doing these expert interpretations using the current fake numbers IS SO NOT HELPFUL MTN.

Don't respond to a giant deception like this!

Do something to create a recount!

You have a lot of contacts that could help with this ---

We, the people, don't have the type of contacts that you do.

Please put MTN's energy into demanding a HAND recount in key states!

Honestly, I don't want to read or listen to anymore commentary on how Trump will destroy America. We've read and listened to all MTN podcasts, news, legal analysis, commentary, laughter about Trump's stupidity for the last 3 years. We get it and you've educated us well. We voted and voted for Harris/Walz. Trump is a fascist. Trump is evil. Trump only cares about himself. He's transactional. He's money greedy. He's power greedy. He's demented and he hired JD Vance to replace him and that could be sooner rather than later, which is frightening unto itself. Trump's whole family is in bed with the most toxic American billionaires, foreign adversaries, felons, drug addicts, and operatives. When are the Democrats going to learn how to fight in a war filled with these gorilla soldiers? It feels like we are fighting an above ground fight when all the real fighting is underground. Trump and his cronies have tunneled under the American democracy with deadly tentacles as much as Hamas has in Gaza. Where will they pop up next? We better be more ready to fight this and another newsletter, podcast, or YouTube video may not be the best solution.

Probably the good news for now is that the new admin will have to face lawyers and litigation much cleverer than their own. You probably have noticed that DonOLD regularly gets his ass kicked in court and even his executive orders won't take effect right away. Unless he gets really pissed and declares martial law which, considering he's mentally unbalanced might happen. He thinks Tienimen square and Dachau were good ways to control the population. But luckily the gears of government grind slowly and he may be out of piwer before much of anything takes effect especially so if all those disloyals in State are replaced by toadies who have no idea what to do. My guess is all the newbies will be massively misled by the remaining old-timers.

I have been unpaid for awhile but recently subscribed so now I will suggest what will help me RESIST. I got so angry that US Congress DEMS became nothing more than daily "TOWN CRIERS." They told us what was going on to threaten our democracy, law/order, people, the world. They offered no solutions because of minority rule of 41 Senators with a called in filibuster vote. 494 Congressal votes for a bill can be ignored completely by 41 Senators. So we had to figure out how to RESIST on our own.

I would like going forward some guidance from you as to how WE individually can resist, class action suits?, what community resist movements are worthwhile to join. I'm ready to fight back peacefully but I need guidance. I am already minimizing my IRS tax exposure as I planned to do if trump/GOP won. I cannot/will not pay taxes to, support, be complicit with trump/GOP/MAGA rule. I live in the BLUEST state in the UNION so my neighborhood is safe from MAGA nuts. I want to join resistance groups very soon but hard to find in a small state like VT. Thank you for all that you do!!!
