I just had an incredible conversation with Heather Williams, president of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC). If you’ve been feeling even an ounce of doom and gloom from the media about 2024, this interview is the antidote.
You’ve probably seen the headlines. “Shock result in Lancaster!” “Surprise flip in Omaha!” But none of this is a surprise if you’re paying attention to what Heather and the DLCC are tracking: Democrats are overperforming by an average of 10 points in state and local elections across the country.
That’s not a typo. Ten points.
While Donald Trump is busy making up imaginary trade deals with Japan and rambling incoherently about “signing bonuses” that don’t exist, literally just making up numbers, voters are tuning him out. They’ve already had enough. Americans are waking up to the fraud, the chaos, the broken promises.
They’re not falling for the culture war distractions anymore. They want to talk about roads, schools, jobs, health care. And that’s exactly what Democrats are talking about in local races across the nation.
As Heather notes, the key is that these aren’t polished politicians parachuting in for attention. These are real people rooted in their communities, running because they want to make a difference. And voters are responding. From flipping mayor’s races in places like Omaha to putting Iowa’s Republican supermajority on the brink, we are building momentum in places Trump won easily just a few years ago.
Meanwhile, the Trump cult is busy screaming about transgender volleyball players and Obama while ignoring crumbling infrastructure, rural hospital closures, and disappearing factories. It’s a scam. It’s always been a scam.
And let’s not forget the absolute rot underneath it all…
Trump’s DOJ, Epstein cover-ups, “Queen for a Day” immunity deals, and now, a push from Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyers for a pardon. A par
don. For a convicted child sex trafficker. That’s what Trumpism looks like in July 2025.
But the good news is that voters are waking up. The façade is cracking. And if this 10-point swing holds, we could see a historic pickup of seats in the midterms — not just in Congress but in the races that actually decide how your state runs.
Thanks again to Heather Williams for joining me. I hope you find this interview valuable.
