SPEAKER 3
So this budget that's providing massive tax cuts for the billionaires cutting $880 billion in Medicaid, it's unclear what's going to happen. The MAGA Republicans, some of them are very outspoken even against this. You've got Republican Congress member Thomas Massey moments ago saying that this is going to increase the deficit by at least $328 billion annually.
0:25
Just this year, if you take the best case scenario, that's part of the Republican talking points. This is what Republican Congress member Massey just said moments ago on C-SPAN. Play it.

Exclusive: Congressman Tom Suozzi on GOP Budget Chaos

The New York Congressman—who represents the district I grew up in—did not hold back in calling out Republican hypocrisy.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Congressman Tom Suozzi today, and let me tell you—this representative gets it. Not only is he fighting for his constituents in New York’s Third Congressional District (which, by the way, is where I grew up), but he’s also calling out the sheer recklessness of the MAGA Republican budget plan. You know, the one that slashes Medicaid by $880 billion while handing out tax cuts to billionaires? The one that even Republican Congressman Thomas Massie admitted will add hundreds of billions to the deficit—this year alone.

Congressman Suozzi didn’t mince words: “It’s completely irresponsible.” And he’s right. Republicans love to posture about fiscal responsibility, but when it comes down to it, they’re not cutting government waste—they’re gutting programs that millions of Americans rely on while padding the pockets of their donors. If it wasn’t so infuriating, it would almost be funny watching them try to spin this.

And speaking of reckless billionaires, we also dove into the disturbing reality of Elon Musk’s unchecked power over sensitive government data. Suozzi nailed it when he pointed out that the tech bros who suddenly find themselves with access to Americans’ tax records, Social Security info, and medical history aren’t exactly security-cleared professionals. They’re hackers, gamers—kids with no oversight with nicknames like “Big Balls,” playing with the livelihoods of everyday people. The fact that Musk thinks he can just waltz in, take over critical government functions, and toss federal employees aside like trash? That’s not just irresponsible, it’s dangerous. And once again, Republicans are letting him get away with it.

Of course, no conversation about Republican dereliction of duty would be complete without addressing Trump’s latest disgrace on the world stage—this time, his administration siding with Russia and North Korea at the United Nations. Yeah, you read that right. As the world marked the third anniversary of Putin’s brutal, unlawful invasion of Ukraine, Trump chose to align the United States with dictators and war criminals.

Suozzi was as fired up about this as I was: “I will never find common ground on this. I am so pissed off.” And who wouldn’t be? Trump is literally handing Putin a free pass, sending a message to our allies that they’re on their own, and making it clear that a second Trump presidency would be an absolute catastrophe for democracy worldwide.

Look, we can’t sit back and let this happen. That’s why I’m glad to see fighters like Congressman Suozzi taking on all the chaos head on. Suozzi clearly knows what’s at stake, and so do we.

I think they DO have a plan. According to the Techno-autocrats, they want to tear down the government for their precious AI/crypto Brave New World. I've had the great displeasure of familiarizing myself with the writings of Curtis Yarvin and Peter Thiel. It's non-human.

Yes! I was concerned that Souzzi kept saying he didn't understand why DOGE was doing what it's doing. The dems need to get up to speed and stop acting bewildered. Read about the Nerd Reich, Yarvin, Thiel, Sachs, and Musk's plan. It has NOTHING to do with "waste. fraud, or abuse"; that's a red herring.

Rather, they're shutting down ongoing and future investigations by multiple govt. agencies of Musk and the fake emperor so they can cheat taxpayers without accountability; they're trying to claim "savings" from the cuts (all of which have been inaccurately inflated "bigly"). Why? Not to pay down the deficit, but to justify giving those "savings" to billionaires to keep their tax cuts. The dems need to be shouting this from every internet platform and stop wringing their hands about how chaotic and cruel DOGE is. Musk and the red Nazis could care less about cruelty, democracy, or the U.S.; it's all about acquiring more money and power for them personally. Make that point to the public in places where they go for information.

The budget proposal in the House is a complete disaster for the majority of Americans, and MUST be blocked. Although I am heartened to hear some Republicans say they won’t support it, I fear that threats to life and livelihood will compel them to change their minds. I am holding out hope that some will find their spines and their consciences and vote this proposal down. 🤞🏻

That's a good reason for the dems to call them out on their claims "savings" from cuts will reduce the deficit. They're trying to make draconian cuts palatable by implying they'll reduce the deficit instead of admitting to their real plan: to extend the billionaire tax cuts.

If they can't find their spines, they ought to at least look out for their long-term interests. The entire economy will be ruined by their rampant corruption and theft of our tax dollars, and that will bring everybody down sooner or later.

Paul I’m not saying I don’t appreciate his standing up and calling this irresponsible, but calling it what it really is he can’t seem to do. This is a coup. This is the beginning of setting the stage for a complete take over of our institutions, of the rule of law, of the very constitutional republic we’ve been protecting all these years. He needs to be able to say what it it really is and who the people are that are responsible for perpetrating this coup who don’t believe in the constitution and want to see it changed drastically in the power of the executive branch. Once that’s done, there isn’t any need whatsoever for the judicial or the legislative branch. All of the executive orders are clearly bent on leading to this and no one is challenging it, not even the courts. The truth is Trump and Musk and all the project 2025 club planned it this way because they knew that once the executive branch had all of the branches, there was nothing the courts could actually do to stop him. You can’t remove a president except with impeachment. At least not legally.

They aren't interested in democracy. Take a look at Curtis Yarvin and his ideas on democracy being dead. Oligarchs, tech is to run the world. I posted this on another Substack but thought it appropriate to copy it here:

Trumphuk=Treasonous Traitorous Treachery.

With this latest affront by Trump it’s high time that the leaders of the opposition — Harris, Biden, Obama, Walz, Governors such as Newsome, Moore, Whitmer, and Hochul, leading Senators and Representatives — COME TOGETHER and STAND UP TOGETHER and denounce this horrible regime. Echo and amplify Maryland Senator Van Hollen’s recent speech eviscerating Trump and Musk. Denounce the threatening of the federal workforce. Denounce the craven selling out of Ukraine and NATO. Denounce the shredding of the programs and institutions that provide crucial benefits for the vast majority of Americans—Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. Denounce the idiocy of DOGE and Musk accessing our private data and stopping Congressionally mandated programs.

In my view this selling out of Ukraine and NATO is the big reveal and the last straw. Take off the gloves—the fight is on.

I agree with Representative Suozzi that the budget is ridiculous. Just about everything Trump has done or tried to do in the past 5 weeks is. There are too many absurdities to count including the bizarre cabinet appointees and the unlawful activities of Musk and his Dogebags. I'm afraid that by focusing on all of the absurd events individually we may be missing the big picture. The worst news was yesterday when Trump replaced the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and especially the lead Jag officers. Does anyone remember when Trump told an audience of Christians "this is the last time you are going to have to vote?". Or when he and J.D. Vance were in on some kind of secret. I'm now convinced that Trump is not only a Putin admirer but an actual asset of the Russians. I'm further convinced that, by getting rid of the Jag officers as well as all of the inspector generals Trump is paving the way to drum up some lame excuse to declare a national emergency in order to declare martial law. He will then suspend the 2026 midterm elections and all other elections to follow. He will use the military to enforce his agenda and there won't be any same military leaders left to oppose him. The government is being dismantled now. I hope I am wrong.

Where are the dems ads on the platforms they failed to use in the election? Let's go. Make no mistake. They are WINNING. We are LOSING.

The new MAGA Republican budget is a blatant betrayal of working Americans, prioritizing tax cuts for the wealthy while slashing essential programs like Medicaid that millions rely on for their health and well-being. We must mobilize and hold our representatives accountable, rallying together to advocate for a budget that truly reflects the needs of the people, not just the interests of billionaires and corporate donors. By standing united and demanding equitable policies, we can push back against this harmful agenda and protect our communities.

Many worked 30 + yrs and cannot subsist without proper healthcare and medicines.

Be careful how we treat the less fortunate ; these are times when caring matters and the poor we will always have with us.

While the standard Republican message of 'Small Government' has grown over the years to "Government is BAD" (excepting your locals very Republican government of course), the policies they embrace are very clearly (in a very short sighted way) aimed to benefit the richest of Americans (well, to be honest, just read that as "the richest") and to 'heck' with the citizens. Far as they are concerned, they believe it is money that buys them their election wins and so it is money they serve.

The way to correct this problem is to remove them from office, the voters need to prove them wrong and despite the money, vote them out of office. Mind you, I am not holding my breath, but every day of chaos, of news reaching people who were previously only exposed to the Fox News bubble... When people hear the ALL Jan 6 rioters were pardoned, when they hear Trump is giving EVERYTHING to Putin and blaming the war on Ukraine. When they hear the Medicare their cousin needs to survive is going away. When they see the prices not going down, but actually going up...

They might start to wander away from Fox and gain a grip on reality.

Wondering if this is the year, after so many years that people wake up to the nature of the man. It can happen, but people will need to suffer before they will put in the effort. The good(?) news is that Trump and other republicans are working real hard to make sure the voters will suffer, a lot.

They also CAN 'T BE ANALYZING IT in any meaningful way, as they don't know enough (if anything) about how those departments WORK or even what they actually DO.

IT IS ONLY ABOUT GETTING THE DATA AND BREAKING THE LAW.

It actually wouldn't surprise me if they SOLD IT to CHINA and/or RUSSIA. As this is happening ,China is engaged in a MASSIVE global initiative to suck up as much data as they can, whether through cyber-attacks or otherwise.

"No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

The word shall has very important meaning. It is more powerful and finite than must. Shall provides no leeway, no variation. Any person, who previously took the oath, and supported the liberation of any person convicted of sedition, insurrection or rebellion for acts committed on January 6, 2021, shall not be allowed to hold office. The power of pardon is for the President and the President alone to use. To suggest that a person should be pardoned prior to being inaugurated President is to give aid and comfort to those convicted of said crimes. To give support to this person prior to his being inaugurated and giving the pardon is also damning as it also gives aid and comfort to those convicted of said crimes.

We need to organize a million people march in Washington DC to march to the white house and demand the Legislature, the Executive and the Judicial Branches to follow the constitution. If not, we the people are going to take over. A million people. That's equivalent to just 20% of the Meidas+ Subscribers.

Trump, Vance and Musk (and people like Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin and Russ Vought) are doing everything in Project 2025. They are clearly destroying the government and democracy. This has been the plan for a long time even before the election, but no one seems to talk about it, except for a few articles here and there. Why aren't Dems and others calling them out? Nope, if you are not a constituent you can't report a website issue. I hope someone who knows him can get him to fix this.

I can completely understand his not wanting to be deluged by emails from idiots. Hence the suggestion of just ONE button--"click here if you appreciate the efforts he is making in the current crisis." Actually, EVERY Congress person should have something similar. We are told to thank even those who are not someone we can vote for, but there's no way to do so. I'm sure there could be some way of being sure that one can only click once a month or whatever. That's what cookies are for--or even limiting it to one email. NO one is going to take the time to come up with multiple emails just to praise him too effusively.
