One of my personal favorite sayings is "it's not a big deal till it's your big deal.” No one cares until they're personally affected or someone they know is personally affected.

This administration is gonna run up the deficit big time even after the stain & his enablers are thrown in jail. So many people will be able to sue the government for wrongful incarceration. I am beginning to believe it will take at least a decade to correct all the wrongs this administration has created.

Only if good people keep pushing will reparations happen. There will be so much to fix when we get the tyrants out of office, including food security, healthcare, education, election reform, the Supreme Court, prisons-for-profit, etc. If we leave it up to the victims alone, it may never happen. They will need our help.

Case in point: the Tulsa race massacre of 2021. Remarkably, two survivors were still alive in 2024 and still seeking reparations at the ages of 109 and 110. Both have since passed away.

Republican voters, this is ALL your fault. We TOLD you and you didn’t listen, and now you have no one to blame but yourself. I hope you learned your lesson and never trust another Republican politician again.

Buyer remorse just doesn’t cut it, as a failure to see through the BS, poor voter education, misogyny and racism coupled with huge voter apathy delivered a malignant sociopath to the White House.

Disaffected Trump voters crying “this is not what I voted for!” rings a bit hollow really!

Don’t blame this crap on me, I voted for Her! That's why I often wear this shirt 👇

Michelle I agree with you more than with Heather. We can't afford to alienate those who voted for Trump but are now feeling remorse. We need to welcome them rather than belittling them. Otherwise they may very well not vote in the next election cycle. It will take all of us doing whatever we can to turn the tide for the sake of our United States.

I am not a Christian but I do like the commandment from Jesus to turn the other cheek. Well I don't really like the turn the other cheek and get hurt again, but I interpret this to partly mean don't retaliate and I agree with that. And that is what we need to be doing with anyone who regrets voting for trump...welcome them to a community that believes in liberty and justice for all. All, even those who have harmed us so greatly. We will never gain anything by saying what did you expect, or well you voted for him, you got what you asked for even though we may really really want to say that (I know I sure do anytime I hear anyone who voted for trump complaining about anything). Maybe the parable of the prodigal son is a better example...we need to welcome folks regardless of their past even if they have hurt us. I am not good at forgiving or forgetting but as a community that is what we need to do. When the Dems retake power we will indeed provide services for all those who voted against those services even though a part of me wants to be just as petty as maga and withhold services from folks who did not vote for them (and who do not pay enough taxes to cover them)...maga withholds services from states/people who did vote for those services and who pay in more to the feds than they get back and gives services to those who do not and that really ticks me off. But more than that I believe that we are the United States of America, all equally deserving of protection and service from the government which includes liberty and justice for all. And food. And health care. And due process. And meeting educational needs of special needs kids. And aid in times of natural disasters. And clean air and water.

i don't think we need to roll out the red carpet for them, but they have to admit that they f**ked up.... 'join us if you wish you'd never voted for trump' should be our slogan and not 'love will conquer hate'....(a lame ass slogan that only make liberals feel comfortable just whining but actually doing nothing)...and i am not targeting that at you - just stating it in general :) ... so far in the various 2025 elections there are still an enormous number of people who are still voting republican....all those people still think dictator trump and his putin-style-rubber-stamp-congress are doing a good job and the final outcome/solution will be excellent... it's more likely that independent voters are thinking they were stupid to have voted for the corrupt criminal bully TWICE!!!!! they are the ones who need to be courted and encouraged to JOIN US.....if repugnicans realized they f**ked up, there would have been a blue tsunami in these 2025 elections....there wasn't....the % was just taking it back to Joe's % in 2020.

It’s Congress but it is also the media’s fault why people haven’t been woken up. Fox News is feeding their viewers no information, mis information and disinformation. Fox viewers think everything is normal and just fine. They can’t understand what all the fuss is about coming from “the left”. They think DJT is doing a good job - except on the economy - but then they all just blame it on “Sleepy Joe” or the Dems. They are being fed lies and excuses all the while Fox News is deflecting blame off of Trump and onto the Democrats. And like good little zombies they just keep on watching Fox.

Now, Barry Weiss is buying up CNN, CBS and all the right wing media stations so that THE ONLY NEWS WILL BE STATE RUN PROPAGANDA NEWS for the Trump Regime. Think about that for a moment. No more freedom of the press. They want EVERYONE brainwashed. If all the news channels are saying the same things on the same days it MUST be true. Ask the Russians who started the war in Ukraine.

I say dump mainstream media altogether and NEVER go back! They have sold out - not only themselves but the American people.

It is long past time to say it out loud…the current administration…from the wannabe king at the top, down to the lowliest bootlicker…is PURE EVIL! Donald Trump with his self-dealing, lying, gross incompetence, and overarching moral turpitude has set the tone. Utterly Despicable human beings like Kristi Noem take that tone and magnify it throughout their areas of responsibility. The House needs to haul her back, in cuffs if necessary, to finish her hearing. Then the Senate needs to finish the grilling with a hard hitting, televised, hearing of its own!

They destroyed my country with their hate & they continue to push the “christian” bullshit - their idea of christian has nothing to do with a spiritual path - it has to do with closing the door to gays, women (who hold no power in these organizations), & turning a blind eye to children. Their stance on abortion is all about saving the child until its born. Then they forget to feed & clothe & house the child. They are hypocrites who deserve my rath!!!Fuck them every one!!

I've been accosted by MAGAs: once a group of white men surrounded me while I was in line to check out, wearing a mask. Another time a woman much younger than me attempted to pull my mask off while shopping for necessities. Another time, my husband was surrounded by a bunch of younger white men and women...they ran when he took his mask off and said he was trying to protect them, since he'd just been discharged from the hospital. They ran out of the store screaming my husband was trying to kill them. When, before he said anything, they spit in his face saying that COVID wasn't anything worse than a cold. (He didn't have COVID, by the way, just used it as a way to get out of the store in one piece. The young woman trying to grab my mask missed when I ducked and fell on the floor - I used this time to get out of there.) These are not the only times in the last decade.

Sorry not sorry: but my empathy ended the third time I was threatened.

I do understand that Americans need to rejoin together, but I'll not compromise my values for these people who claim to be Christians, yet threaten to harm anyone who disagrees with them. But, I'm old. I believed, before the felon, that people were basically good. I know differently now. They are what they choose to be: and MAGAs have chosen to be dangerous and to be enemies to the life of many people I love and a lot of folks I don't know. This is, of course, until their felon's rules and/or laws interfere with one of their loved ones. They apparently have lost or never learned empathy.

If MAGAs want to apologize for their behaviors, they need to get out and show us they no longer are the leaders' supporters. Start protesting, sit outside ICE's gulags, write to their politicians and the felon they supported and tell them to stop. Just saying one is sorry, is NOTHING. I won't forgive until they demonstrate by actions, rather than just saying they are sorry and they were an idiot. smdh

Do you not think this man exposed himself to threats and harassment by standing up and saying what he did? I get that people are angry and want to vent at anyone who voted for DJT. But publicly saying he regrets his vote *is* an action, one which he most likely knew would cause consequences for him.

Expand full comment
Geri Cochran's avatar

Yes, I believe he did and will subject himself to the anger and hatred of his former colleagues and felon - his own 'peeps'. But he participated in that hatred, did he not, when he chose to vote for the felon? When he chose to vote for the end of ACA supplements? When he chose to agree with the Muslim ban? When he chose to vote for the BigBeautifulBill? When he supported kidnapping children from their parents with no plan to ever return them? Did he cheer when the felon pardoned all those J-6 insurrectionists? smh

He's done so much damage helping to overturn our democratic republic, and harming so many people. So, NO, the apology is not enough. Yes, he'll have to deal with the threats, like MTG: but gosh at least they haven't had to deal with it for a decade like us, right? LGBTQIA+, black folks, brown folks, and all those other people magas profess to hate have been living in fear...and you want us to simply forgive, because there was an apology? smdh

Let's just see how he votes in the next year. Heck, he may make a deal with the felon to get his wife back...and if that's the case, the felon will own him. I say let him prove he is trustworthy by his deeds, not by his voice.
