I don't think Acosta will come clean unless he is closely cross examined. Years after the fact, DOJ performed an Office of Professional Responsibility investigation that was papered over, but he denied that he had a secret meeting with Epstein's lawyers. I get this from the Miami Herald, that tracked it. OPR concluded that “Acosta exercised poor judgment when he failed to make certain that the state intended to and would notify victims identified through the federal investigation about the state plea hearing. His decision left victims uninformed about an important proceeding that resolved the federal investigation, an investigation about which the [United States Attorney’s Office] had communicated with victims for months. It also ultimately created the misimpression that the [Justice] Department intentionally sought to silence the victims.”
The summary said the Office of Professional Responsibility had reviewed “hundreds of thousands of records,” including emails, letters, memos and investigative materials, and conducted “more than 60 interviews of witnesses,” from FBI case agents to a former deputy attorney general. In a statement, the Justice Department said it shared the executive summary of the report with victims on Thursday and the full report with a congressional committee. “

The Police with 60% domestic abusers are answering domestic abuse calls. The Police are still bullies. I know I had a Police Officer try to rape me. I also was repeatedly humiliated by the police I called for help and they laughed in my face and told me I was crazy or paranoid or exaggerating or they will try to get you committed.
It didn’t matter what police officers I called. I called many because I was forced to keep moving after leaving him. Thanks to the Supreme Court DAWA cannot protect me cross state boarders.

Lawyers have no idea how to work with victims. They have little to no understanding of the trauma experienced by victims. Nor do they try. There are also the issue that many victims may have other issues. Some have been misdiagnosed and carry a psychiatric diagnosis. That steals any credibility from the victim.
In Islam, women cover their bodies or wear burkas. This is because it is to keep them protected them from men who would see more flesh and succumb to their impulses.
In the USA, it’s no different. Woman are embarrassed and harassed on the stand on what they were wearing, drinking, or acting provocatively. Were they asking for it? Should women in the women in the US cover their bodies or wear burkas so they don’t have to deal with these abusive questions from defence attorneys.
There is only one question that a defence attorney can ask “Did you consent?” That’s the only question to establish rape.
Judges and court systems are woefully inadequate in handling with cases where abuse is involved. Women must cry but not too much or be factual but cry. The courts are overwhelmed with divorce, child abuse, domestic abuse, child custody are forced through because there are full dockets.
I had a judge tell me domestic abuse wasn’t his problem and I should go find a domestic abuse shelter.
That judge should know it’s not that simple. Part of homelessness are those fleeing abuse. Children, women and families. The rich got the money that’s supposed to go to domestic abuse shelter.
The truth is that unless step up and help abused women nothing is going to change until the next sex scandal shows up splashed across Breaking News banner and it only matters if it’s a celebrity.
I would love to see the banner say “Joe Trash a middle manager at the local bank found guilty of severe financial abuse.”
That’s the other problem there is invisible abuse. Coercive control (narcissistic usually) are on the books but not enforced.
The greatest abuse is financial abuse. In the Great Land of Capitalism without money you can’t survive. That’s why many victims stay. They stay for health insurance. They stay for children or pets. They stay because they are sick or disabled. They stay because it’s more dangerous to leave.

That's why this is a powder keg way beyond a "scandal" used as a political weapon or even a core "tenant" on which to base a civil war ..our entire culture has enabled, protected, & elevated people that abuse power -in families, communities, work places, & our institutions. Now criminal predators have taken over. Rape is not primarily sex, it's about control.
You're right, time after time, people have turned away & psychopaths have taken control. There is a lot riding on seeing what we do now. Nothing less than our collective soul. These Survivors are speaking for all of, all of us that have been abused & all those that WILL be unless we finally face reality. The harm to even one should be enough for us to hold those responsible accountable. To keep pulling the rug on justice is just sick. It makes a mockery of all of humanity.
