I'm hoping I can step back for one day tomorrow, when the temps will be cooler than they have been in some time. The thermostat in my car on Tuesday told me that the outdoor air temp was 106° F (41° C), but I think that may have been a little high. It was definitely well into the 90s/30s, and the humidity was horrible. Not sure if I can block out everything for that long, but I'll give it a shot.

Just block out all that fake news on public media about climate change and global warming. It's just not happening, just a money-making hoax (and who should know better but King Grifter). At least not in air-conditioned trumpworld, or the executive suites of Big Oil.

What does that mean to me- what does that mean to you? Our constitution- was written by many God fearing people! I too appreciate the constitution, it’s not that complicated, but there’s great conflict and disagreement anyway! They read the Bible in all classes in the morning first period in public schools when I was there through grade twelve. What happened?-!! Lucifer’s work, NO DOUBT!

I know we are all exhausted when a night of relaxation consists of watching true crime shows, because in most instances as gasp inducing as they are we know there is a conclusion

Expand full comment
Bluesmurf's avatar

There is a conclusion here as well... but we are in the "middle" of the story. When the conclusion finally arrives, it will be just as awesome as reading the notes at the end of "Snapped" where it shows how many years someone got and if and when the perpetrator will get out of prison, if at all.

Me too... Snapped is one of my favorites... but I also watch People Investigates, and a few others. I have been watching true crime since American Justice and Bill Curtis. I also liked Unsolved Mysteries and separate individual documentaries - the latest thing I watched hours and hours of was the Lori Vallow Daybell sentencing in Arizona.

I find this a fascinating thread (is that what it's called???). I have not even heard of most of the shows mentioned! And because I'm among friends I can admit that I mostly watch Leave It To Beaver, Mash, Emergency and Adam12 and Colbert and Barney Miller. I spent all my adult career in the field of criminal justice, from working in probation and parole, to investigating child abuse, including child sexual abuse and maybe because I had to live this stuff I still need to escape from it, from the reality of so many perpetrators getting off scot free. But then I do love Murder She Wrote...go figure!

When you are an "Analyst" like I have been all of my life, it's interesting to watch the investigation play out and, at least the stupid criminals, watch the criminals get caught. I like court dramas as well and always loved Perry Mason and especially the Perry Mason movies, which I finally bought on DVD because streaming services won't show them.

I read books on these same types of things - mystery, intrigue, something that has to be analyzed based on the clues. John Grisham is one of my favored authors, as is Nora Roberts on her books that provide a mystery, some type of dramatic undertones - like "Mind Games" or "Identity" or "Northern Lights" - Interesting to walk through all the clues and try to figure out whodunit, as well as how they figured it out and what was the ultimate ending.

I watch Murder She Wrote, too - love Angela Lansbury!

The Substack business model is tricky. If you sign on with one popular channel, say Lev Parnas, pretty soon he has other people coming on there asking for money for their channels. But maybe they are not as good as Lev, or not to your taste. But there is a guilt-trip aspect to it, where they are all complimenting each other, and calling each other "brother" and such, and implying if you don't support them all, you're not doing your best to help the cause. And then you sign on to their channels, and they all have even more people coming on doing the same thing. More people praising each other and all that, and saying you need to sign up with all of them to help the cause. And it's never ending. There's always more people telling you to sign up and pay for the membership. If one is not careful, he or she can end up being signed up with 20 Substacks or even more. They may not even notice at first. Then the bills come in and it is a bit shocking. And if something tangible was being accomplished, fine. But most of it is pep talks, and vague guilt trips for people not paying for memberships. All these people asking for money. But after awhile, one has to question exactly what is being accomplished. What are the specific, as opposed to vague, goals of this "resistance?" At least Lev is out there, and trying to get more involved IRL as opposed to just being online. That I can support. But people just dropping in to give pep talks and ask for more money, those I am cutting out. Michael Cohen was even name-calling people who he felt weren't giving him enough money on one of Lev's broadcasts, and Parnas later had to apologize for him. I don't need that kind of thing in my life. That Cohen episode woke me up though. I started cancelling a lot of these channels after he did that. I'm going to get it down to one or two trusted channels, and that's it. Otherwise it starts to feel like a Ponzi Scheme, where you are investing in something with no pay-off at the end.

I have to say that i indulge in some free content and pay for i think 4 or 5 others like Parnas, Acosta, Meidas. I have only got that feeling you are portraying, meaning a money grab feeling, from Cohen also... sometimes I think he just wants more people subscribing to get the message to more people and sometimes it feels he just wants the bigger cash in. Im still not clear on that but can see how you can go there. Im not going to let that bother me though. I feel there is a lot of sincerity here at substack too.

But I'm not seeing any progress in stopping the world from ending. Meanwhile I'm still going broke from all my Substack subs. That's it for me. I need a break. And groceries are increasingly expensive.

MSM(mainstream media) Missing the Nazi(Authoritarian) Playbook

It’s business as usual at MSM Just regurgitate to its audience what Cheeto said, what federal legislators said, recount the Gaza genocide and call it good The network getting close to calling the Nazi regime out for what it’s doing is MSNBC but even that network misses the point

Bernie Sanders and AOC called it the Oligarchy Protest Tour but the undercurrent of that tour is that the authoritarian takeover of the government is led by Cheeto BUT CHEETO IS ONLY THE TIP OF THE AUTHORITARIAN ICEBERG THE AMERICAN OLIGARCHY IS THE ICEBERG ITSELF And MSM and nonMSM eg Substack needs to use this in the context of news coverage

This is why there is such catering by the Nazis to give enormous financial favors to the top 5% of the electorate The Nazis have decided that the American people in this democracy don’t count and that the wealthy need to control the country Cheeto in his narcissistic way sees that he is the WAY and that his supporting oligarchy will

We see what has happened in the Authoritarian Deep South and how the voters have been disenfranchised so that the wealthy and well placed White Southerners have controlled the political narrative It seems like the Nazis are taking this Southern model nationwide by disenfranchising voters nationally

The key then is how do we the electorate respond to this oligarchic authoritarian takeover That’s for another time but it seems like Indivisible has its finger on the authoritarian pulse One Million Rising: Strategic Non-Cooperation to Fight Authoritarianism is worthwhile looking at

As hard as it is to not give up, that is exactly what trump and the GOP Congress want us to do. That in itself keeps me motivated. I urge you to maybe take a break but don't give up. And unless you are already a citizen of either Mexico or Canada it's not that easy to just up and move there (at least Canada, not sure about Mexico). Maybe you can stay engaged by calling Democratic members of Congress like AOC and Crockett and thanking them for what they are doing. I try to make a positive call at least as a few times a week and for me that helps, and based on responses I get from the folks that answer the phones when I get a real person, they sure appreciate it too. Yesterday I bought some strawberries from California (I'll only buy fresh produce from California or Canada) and they were delicious and I sent a note to the farm/packer about how good they were and that I hoped trump's policies were not hurting their work force and I got back a very nice note about how much they appreciated my note. I've sent letters to churches that are helping immigrants, and when I can I send a few dollars to United 24, the official Ukranian donation web page. Maybe if you can do things like this and avoid all the crappy news, maybe it can help you not give up and eventually return to watching the news...it will pretty much be the same probably.

Even though I have only been an American citizen since 2017 I am not backing down. I am not giving up. I am too pissed off to ever stop. I would love to see more and more billboards going up. How about Missing - Honesty, Integrity, Clarity. How about the pictures of missing immigrants? How about putting up the same posters in Washington that the Brits put up in Britain of Epstein and Trump?

I was also wondering if Canada would want New York state as the 11th province or the 4th Territory. Hey, government healthcare, gun control - I mean have to have gun control because marijuana is legal and who wants someone who is stoned holding a gun? We would have poutine - man I miss poutine and schwarma and ice wine and Canadian bacon IS NOT HAM. It's just regular bacon.

If 6 months of chaos and lies and corruption and fear mongering has caused exhaustion and you need some time away from all this, then you should take it. 1, 2, 5, 7 days, whatever, is not going to change anything at this point and as this horror show has shown, you can pick up wherever things are when you come back and not missed anything.

We have a big fight ahead of us and we all need to be ready to go when it happens and not let the daily chaos and drama wear us out before the big fight happens. Stay engaged, but don't let the distractions or the nonsense interfere with what is most important -

There are elections going on in States all the time, and special elections taking place as well. Contact your County Elections Board or State Elections Board or Secretary of State, whoever is in charge of elections in our state and find out when the next elections are... find out who is running and for what positions.

We have to replace the people at the local, county, State and then Federal level in order to stack all of our local governments with pro-democracy people. I understand that you got a conscience but you still seem to be angrier about where you are. I would be very angry if I had been treated that way as well. My issue is that some of that anger seems to be a bigger issue than what the tangerine man is doing to ruin our country. I am so frustrated that he just keeps making the outrageous claims and huge lies that no one seems to be able to stop . You talk about the lies and basic illegal activities that no one stops. No one seems to care- he is running rampant over rights and the constitution and no one can stop him. I am so scared that my children will be forced to leave this country or be treated as criminals. No one can stop him. Why do we need a $200 million ballroom while children starve? This is not the country I grew up in. It was not perfect but people cared about each other. They supported efforts to take care of our poor and our veterans that put their lives on the line for us. I feel so frustrated. I try to make my voice count, I participate in protests and send my representatives my support but he still is the teflon idiot. I am not afraid of him but others are. When does this change? When does all this "evidence" that people have begin to make a difference?
