I think you need to keep this unpaywalled. In these times, this outlet has become our only reliable truthful news source. Without MeidasTouch News and other credible content, we are blind. I understand that that’s not a profitable business model but it’s what we need.

Lady Emsworth's avatar

I totally agree. There are a couple of sites that don't have paywalls that I subscribe to anyway because I value their work. I wish I could afford to give MORE to HCR and the Bulwark - and a couple of others.

Cindy Schneider's avatar

Same, there is some excellent journalism going on out there, and I feel bad I can't support them all! I don't waste my time on corporate network TV.

Mike Hammer's avatar

That should be the case especially when considering the hard times many are facing now, and would only be adding to the stress of being strapped. In other words, there’s all the good reasons to do this and no negative effects and the PR would be great.

ramonaj's avatar

It would defeat the purpose of being a member supported movement. They would need corporate sponsors. Or worse have to deal with rules and regulations like the other MSM. I agree . But not at the expense of MTN becoming another MSM controlled entity.

I would love to help out some people who can not afford to pay for an annual subscription. I would need to have a receipt showing it as a donation. I'm not sure how to go about it though? You know, like 10 subscriptions in one transaction? I don't even know if Substack does something like that? My CPA advised me I have to donate a certain amount of money in order to keep Trump's grubby hands off my tax dollars. My goal is to pay as little as possible for my taxes. I actually paid minimal taxes for 2025. I'm self-employed so I have to pay quarterly and I got back most of what I put in last year. I was happy with that. Anyway, if I could help others out with a paid subscription to see/hear the truth, I'd love to do so.

MM Harris's avatar

I just realized that MTN would need to be a 501C or similar or the tax deduction won't work. Personally, I'd still support, and contribute to, an arrangement that would help get paid subscriptions to others.

Joanne Gatsis's avatar

I thought about that. Whenever I do donate to schools, animal non-profits etc. They provide me a receipt and I make sure they're 501C as they point out on their donation forms they are. I'll look into how I can help with supporting. Thanks for your help. 😊

ramonaj's avatar

I have in the past donated to many charities. Being older changes that when you stop working . Every dime matters. I get it. I hate it. But I live it now. What we are going thru is hellatious. Nobody is immuned from his BS. This sucks .

Joanne Gatsis's avatar

I know. I'm angry and outraged all the time. 😡

Joanne Gatsis's avatar

Thank you! I want to help others but do not know how to move forward. Contacting the MTN? I'm sure they have thousands of messages and it could easily be overlooked.

ramonaj's avatar

It is a good idea for sure. I cani only do so much myself. I think sometimes people feel bad that they can't afford it at all. You have the internet if you are here. You pay for that. Add what you can afford . There's SO MUCH available info. We need to all stay here and informed. GO MEIDASMIGHTY!!

Joanne Gatsis's avatar

Thanks. I see many people commenting they can not afford to pay. It makes me feel bad. I'm not rich by all means but would love to help out where I can.

ramonaj's avatar

Me too. But I can't. I just hope those folks know that we still need them. Like minded folks need to be have a united space. Like MTN.

Rose Huston's avatar

Definitely. A blessing to one that wants to keep updated.

Stuart MacDonald's avatar

I too agree. In fact, I have responded several times to your request to take a paid subscription (without a response or acknowledgement by the way) saying that as a pensioner I am limited in the number I can afford and as a Canadian, I chose to subscribe to Charlie Angus.

ELISABETH SULLIVAN's avatar

MTN you tube channel is free. You can subscribe, and it doesn't cost anything to watch any of the videos by any of the reporters including Legal AF, Aaron Parnas, Scott MacFarlane, Katie Phang, and others. You just can't watch ad free. Please get the word out to subscribe to the you tube channel!

ramonaj's avatar

Yes . I forgot about You tube. It is great . You tube Premium is even better . I am going to join again soon. Its not too expensive . Like 16 bucks. Lots of other stuff as well . I only have A roku player . No cable.

ELISABETH SULLIVAN's avatar

I just watch you tube for free on my computer.

I've more or less (actually less!) stopped watching the nightly news on the three major stations. They "gloss over" what the Dictator & his republiCRAP allies are doing. Kind of present it like it doesn't matter. Thank God you and your brothers, Popok & all can (and do) provide us with the REAL news.

Liz Illgen's avatar

Kathryn, I totally understand we are ALL squeezed these days for cash, but even $5 will help to keep sites like this up, providing us the ONLY source of truth about what's going on. I spend very carefully, and justify supporting Meidas and other outlets by cutting back on cable tv (it's NOT news anyways!). I know it's hard, but it's the only thing WE THE PEOPLE have left, is a free press, and that takes monetary support. PS, so many of the reels and newsletters ARE still free, take advantage of them! Hope this helps, that is truly my intent.

Kathryn's avatar

If I had an extra $5 I would. I don’t have an extra anything. I’m not just whining, I’m stating a fact. I’ve got nothing left to squeeze.

Abandoned Afghan Ally's avatar

As an Afghan veteran, I know what happen when leadership is weak. Trump going to China and not even talking about tariffs, and then defending their leader? This is not showing strength. While regular people suffer with high gas prices, politicians just say "that's life."

Merry's avatar

And what was it that trump said recently about who’s holding all the cards?

This seems to imply otherwise… Thucydides Trap on full display.

At least Donald made certain he severed relationships with allies before having his a$$ handed to him by Xi. If (when) China moves on Taiwan, the USA is going to bail on Reagan's commitment to defend Taiwan (1982).

Merry's avatar

Agree. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time - and likely wont be the last - djt broke promises/commitments, precedence, protocol, or the law! And we know that Trump is purely transactional, so the situation shifts from commitment to what does trump GAIN?

Connie McKinley's avatar

Trump is a LOSER. I have to ask, "who is surprised it was a nothing meeting?" Trump is NOT a diplomat! He also is not the brilliant, big brained deal making stud he imagines himself to be. He's just another "wanna be important" self deluded LOSER!!

Linda Harris's avatar

He is a loser, but then he has Jim "that's just life" jordan back home praising him. Another disgusting pedophile that needs to go.

Bobbie's avatar

Yes, Linda, “Gym” also commented about his concern for athletes in Iran, which is ironic considering his lack of concern for the wrestlers @ OSU!

Linda Harris's avatar

To this day, I do not know how he did not face charges.

Dee Cee's avatar

We don't even need words to describe the concept of "failing forward." Just a photo of trump -- the biggest example of failing forward in the history of the galaxy.

Merry's avatar

Certainly evidence of the “Thucydides Trap”, rapidly occurring under this corrupt Trump regime

C Bowlby's avatar

rumpie Now saying- he want to build golden statue of himself!

Reminds me of sadamm hussein dictatorship in Iraq! If the wormy reps approve, will be the most vandalized and spit on statue in the world!

L B Rose's avatar

I kind of think the statue of King Con in gold looks a whole lot like the Donny & Jeffrey statues that appear frequently on the National Mall. And I like those better.

The man is weak. Call it age if you will but remember he is not the straightest nail. He is a bully and when confronted, blusters and blames others. Would like hear what XI tells Vlad about this visit. Thanks to you and a few others for keeping us all informed. I am 86 and want to live long enough to gain satisfaction of This acting President's demise.

… who is a malignant narcissist with dementia…. A tried and convicted felon and rapist … I don’t see the problem… yes that’s sarcasm…. A man with all these qualities should not have all the power he has 💣

MM Harris's avatar

He wouldn't have this power if EVEN LESS THAN A HANDFUL OF CONGRESSIONAL GOP would do the right thing.

Dee Cee's avatar

Gerrymandering might save some of the House members. But I hope that same gerrymandering backfires and causes every single GOP Senator to lose their seats. Every. single. one.

*but especially *Collins*!

MM Harris's avatar

Since electing senators is state-wide, gerrymandering probably doesn't have the same effect, so...........

Dee Cee's avatar

Hi! -- I know -- that's my point :) . They can't gerrymander the Senate, so I hope that gerrymandering the House causes enough people to be mad that they show up to vote and take it out on the Republican Senate candidates.

It would be great if enough people show up that it backfires with House candidates, too.

But it would be "BIG BEAUTIFUL" poetic justice if it backfired so spectacularly that turnout combined with anger caused every single Republican Senator to lose their seat.

Icing on the cake would be losing the House too, despite their efforts to cheat.

MAGA would lose its ever-loving shit if Biden had gone over and given away American farmland, half-a-million student visas, AI chips and Taiwan while coming back with nothing. MAGA is shit, hypocritical shit, just like Stinky. This trip was a “dud”? This trip was our Manchurian Candidate giving away yet more American security and prosperity. This trip was treason, if giving aid and comfort to the enemy is treason. A dud? No, an absolute fucking failure. And treason.

Richard Wright's avatar

So Ben, another solid breakdown of trump’s disastrous China trip, a full‑blown clown parade of sycophants who looked like they thought they were on some kind of guided vacation. Half of them were pointing at random things like tourists, and Musk looked stoned out of his mind. Then, Xi gives trump a direct warning about the Taiwan situation, and trump turns around and claims Xi was talking about Biden. I watched Xi’s last meeting with Biden. I know for a fact Trump is lying pathologically, AGAIN. So how the fck do we stop this clown show? This is corruption. This is a scam. This is a pathetic display by Trump’s sycophants — shameless fools, every single one of them. The US can’t wait until November. Something has to give because this shit show is spiraling.*

All flash and no substance. Perhaps that could be trademarked by the current Administration and replicated in gold in the ballroom, on the arch, Air Force One. The possibilities are endless. Oh, and my mistake. In keeping with the current guidelines it should read: TRUMP. All flash and no substance.

Thanks, Meidas Network!

The Taiwan playbook will follow the same path as Ukraine. The orange dictator will delay, prevaricate, insult Taiwan and eventually fail to come up to the US's obligations. This man is very dangerous.

Lady Emsworth's avatar

Kim Jong and his advisers have long ago worked out what keeps Donald "Tug my Todger" Trump happy. Not negotiation, diplomacy and mutual agreements - just make him smile, tell him your his BBF. Telling him he's your BFF works every time - because he's never had one.

I love the work you do at MeidasTouch News. I read, listen to or watch almost everything that you make available in the free form. I simply cannot afford another subscription and have eliminated a number of others out of financial necessity. Please do not require a paid subscription.

mary harris's avatar

I canceled NYT and WaPo to subscribe to MTN and a few others. I hope it helps so these independent news sources can provide free content for those who cannot afford the subscription.

How to get rid of a mad dictator?

Diane Falk's avatar

LOCK HIM UP

He is a psychopath, grifter to the tune of Billions, liar, destroying our democracy, our environment. There MUST be CONSEQUENCES.

Kit Kavanagh's avatar

Yes, and worst of all a terrible role model for our children and even immature adults. During his first administration the mother of an eight year old boy asked her if it was alright to LIE. Pathetic.

Carolynn Foged's avatar

Isn't it just amazing how small the Grifter in Thief becomes around dictators. Taiwan is lost but, who knows, maybe we get Venezuela. He cannot be allowed out of the country again. SNAFU.

Dee Cee's avatar

I'd rather he never be allowed back in the country again. Next time he leaves, lock him out!

I think I cannot take anymore. I use my van for groceries, take my dog to the vet, and when I need to go to the doctor. But he on the other hand flies every weekend to Florida. Then drives to his golf courses has his big parties. It only took him a year to ruin America. After Joe Biden got us back on track. I’m really concerned about the midterms with the way they’re cheating and all the other things that they lie and cheat about.

Every day I get emails, text messages from Democrats who want me to donate. I don’t know where they think I have the money to donate anything to them. It’s just me my dog and my cat. Just keeping us well and fed and bills paid is about as much as I can handle.

I hate these Republicans that are in positions to stop a lot of this crap that Trump and his buddies are doing. Why don’t they? Oh never mind ,that they want the money more than they want to work for the American people I think they should not be paid a salary with the crap that they’re doing, he has made an ass of the United States of America.
