I totally agree. There are a couple of sites that don't have paywalls that I subscribe to anyway because I value their work. I wish I could afford to give MORE to HCR and the Bulwark - and a couple of others.
That should be the case especially when considering the hard times many are facing now, and would only be adding to the stress of being strapped. In other words, there’s all the good reasons to do this and no negative effects and the PR would be great.

I would love to help out some people who can not afford to pay for an annual subscription. I would need to have a receipt showing it as a donation. I'm not sure how to go about it though? You know, like 10 subscriptions in one transaction? I don't even know if Substack does something like that? My CPA advised me I have to donate a certain amount of money in order to keep Trump's grubby hands off my tax dollars. My goal is to pay as little as possible for my taxes. I thought about that. Whenever I do donate to schools, animal non-profits etc. They provide me a receipt and I make sure they're 501C as they point out on their donation forms they are. I'll look into how I can help with supporting. Thanks for your help. 😊
