I am a woman that has an unviable pregnancy. Dr said I would miscarry naturally and sent me home. I lived for a few more weeks with the knowledge that what was inside of me, that I was so eager for, would not come to pass. Ultimately, I was admitted and a D&C was performed. I spent the next 2 months being tested nearly daily then weekly to ensue I would survive. I am so ANGRY and FURIOUS of these SENSELESS DEATHS. Truth to power

It’s so sad to have lost your child, my heart breaks for you. To have to go through all of the other trauma was unacceptable.

I am truly sorry for your loss, and I can relate to your anger. Years ago I had a missed miscarriage where the fetus just stopped growing. Luckily, I was able to get a D&C, but I can't imagine the horror and anxiety a woman must feel if she is told to just "wait and see" because she is not on her death bed yet. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that we have gone back to the draconian days where women are dying simply because they are unable to get an abortion which obviously is (was) considered healthcare. I guess we're back to fighting for our rights, again. One step forward, two steps back. Unbelievable!

Not sure why you would say this to me. My ointment was aimed at the people that fired every one. Unless you are saying that the people that were covering their own butts by firing all of the employees should be congratulated. No, I hold my opinion that when the laws stand in the way off the welfare of the people, the laws should be changed, and these folks in charge, should be fired!

Not sure if Calvan North saw your reply. I read his post as a general one and not a reply to you. I think he was criticizing the state of Georgia and not you. Sorry for your struggles. You are welcome in California if you can make it here.

This is what happens when fascists run the show. Objective reality is sacrificed for political expedience and, real people suffer as a result.

This shows you that they know they are on the wrong side of this flaming issue. Why else would they take such drastic measures.

That is an entirely UNLAWFUL DEATH when a woman DIES because she couldn’t get a D&C! That is NOT an abortion! That is a cleaning out of already dead/unused tissues ….its a normal process to help keep infections from setting in! WTH is wrong with these people who obviously don’t know or understand a medical procedure but think they have the right to threaten a medical professional for doing their job….”doing no harm”, keeping their patient safe….WTH??!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!…the IDIOTS of this country are in the CLOWN CAR AND ARE DIRECTING MEDICAL CARE! Stop them now!!

It is about control of women, and cruelty is the point. They want us to feel helpless against the almighty patriarchy.

I would like to think that the state of Georgia would somehow have some path to recall this state official for endangering the lives of Georgia mothers.

Based on the substack post, I can’t tell if the propublica story initiated with a leak of confidential info from the state, or the family of the decedent wishing to tell the tale. Leaking confidential info is really serious, but to administer group culpability (retribution, really) without (what appears to be) direct evidence seems intended to make an example of those refusing to bends the knee to the will of Kemp. Keep an eye on the numbers presented in the de-identified data.

Leaking confidential information is far less serious than homicide.

Making an example of someone was the point. They won’t be able to stop information from getting out. Just like with these stories that got out, somebody knows something. All they did was put a magnifying glass on themselves.

I have no doubt that the tragically deceased women's families are glad this came out and perhaps even signed a release so it could be shared. Democracy and truth die in darkness.

Well When you don’t assess people die from a certain cause… the number of deaths by that cause goes down!

As a female and as a mother, it tears my heart out when I hear about the pain we carry.

A man cannot relate! Ever!! Imagine ladies if this happened to you or your daughter 😲

Stop acting like it’s just another day!! This is unacceptable and inexcusable behavior. If you’re a woman, you understand however, men don’t, never will. I pray these ignorant people will never have to experience a needless death of a wife or daughter due to laws they casually pass not to mention the how soon they forget until it causes mass unnecessary deaths 🤷🏻‍♀️

If it happens to you, you’ll never forget but rest assured that your loss will be forgotten right after the paperwork is filed 🥲

Part of the dumbing down of America. Don't fall for it, fight back. The families of these women need to be the ones to come forward and tell the stories of their senseless deaths.

This is what those of us working in maternal health have feared. Maternal mortality deaths are already the highest among all high income countries. Rates are really bad in the South including GA. For shame.

The truth has set this committee free....of their jobs. How appropos. Sweeping it under the rug doesn't make it go away. Were it my family member I would shout it from the hilltops. If they are so into "life" in Georgia you would think that would include the life of women. I guess perpetuating their political agenda is even more important.

Women do not matter to these people. Whether we live or die is irrelevant. We exist for sex, reproduction, and servitude.
