Protest! I am 70 with two bad knees and I did TWO protests this weekend. I have been to events where people were in lawn chairs and wheel chairs! There are events all over the country! Check mobilize.us.

I’m tired of 10 to 15 texts a day from the Democratic Party asking for more money! I don’t mind contributing to some who will be running in 2026 but I want to see senators and representatives who are already in Washington DO SOMETHING SUBSTANTIAL!

I also delete them, each candidate that plans on running in 2026 should be sending or posting their resume & video on one of the substacks to make voters aware of who they are, what their agenda is, and be available to respond to voters questions. The parties just asking for money is absurd. If I like a candidate and feel that they were the best fit, then I would contribute to that individuals campaign. And there should be a limit on how much. Yes. There's a guy who decided to run for governor in Maine and who's been sending out emails with hand out. Never heard of him. So I wrote back and asked if he's taking corporate sponsorships. No response, just another email a week later. As if the whole scenario isn't stressful enough, I need twenty seven emails from candidates? I donated to Mamdani in NY. That seems like a good investment. :)

We do not all have to be out at rallies, or trying to out maneuver ICE. If rallies and protests are what you can and want to do, then you should. But while all that is going on, we need to be fixing this mess, as well as elevating the messages.

Run For Office, Join a Group, Start a Group, Make Your Voice Heard!
If you want to join an established group, then look at the links below. Please do not wait for some leader to pop up and tell us all what to do. Be the leader!
If you cannot find a group, then form one and take action in your local area, keeping safety in mind, of course. When you take action, report it. Spread pictures, videos, write-ups, whatever all over the Internet in every media that will take it. If the horses won’t come to the water, we will take the water to the horses and when they are thirsty for ratings, they will drink!
We have to reclaim our local communities and all the boards, mayors, council people, district boards, school boards, library boards, water boards, recreational boards, city planning boards, county commissioners, sheriffs, county election boards, state legislators, AGs, Sec of State, Governors and everything else in between. We have to push out the hatred, bigotry, racism, phobia prone whackafools who want to tell everyone else how to live and get the message to go live your own life and let others live theirs. We can do this - this year, next year, and the year after that - and for years to come. Keep running our "freedom & democracy" candidates until we have it all back. If you cannot run for office, support someone who does that believes in equality and freedom!
You want a TOWN HALL MEETING? Don’t Wait for A Leader!
Set up a Town Hall Meeting without your representative. Hold the meeting and let everyone share. Take notes/meeting minutes. Send a copy of the official Meeting Minutes to their offices. Post them in newspapers and on every social media or other media you can. Make sure to put at the top who the representative was that did not show and where the town hall meeting was held. Then just report on what happened and all the concerns and questions. Hold these meetings weekly or regularly. Keep the pressure on even if they want to hide and pretend we/you all do not matter!
Then go out and contact a Democrat in your State and invite them to come talk in your district to answer questions. I will bet you they will show up!

If we are going to get our democracy back, we are going to have to build it up from the bottom and then out. Having democracy freedom people in the foundation will work against fascism. Go back and look at history. Also look at the history of the downfall of crackpot dictators and authoritarians. Having a foundation in place is critical.
Hi Addy, I want to add to this... Having people who truly understand democracy and freedom in the foundation of our country shows the population in that local community, in that county, in that state the kind of people we want to put in charge of the federal government and we do not have the MAGAs plotting another infiltration that will get them anywhere. It is the "wall" of "right" that we need in place to stop the "evil" and 'wrong' that are being done to our country.
I'm going to support the people we have in power to stop the most egregious actions that "might" be taken by the current dolt in the WH. I, personally, know that I cannot by myself stop those things should he take it in his head to act on them. But, we can be the loud voice, we can be the wall of resistance. We can be the cities, counties, and states that are NOT going to knuckle under.

Joe Biden was not up to the task, but still did more for working and middle class than republicans other than Dwight Eisenhauer, and the wealthy paid 80-90% of their taxable income when he was president. I agree completely. Biden did an amazing job as President. That's why it's so disappointing that in the end he let his ego and quest for "legacy" rule the day.
Sure! Biden was elected partly on the promise to be a "bridge" President and make way for younger candidates in 2024. He did not do so. Biden let his ego get in the way -- "only I can beat Trump" -- which led to that disastrous first debate performance. Biden knew full well before the debate that polls showed most Americans thought he was too old for another round, but he didn't care. Again, ego got in the way. Biden then anointed Harris as his successor rather than calling for an open primary, which may not have been possible to have at that point -- again due to Joe's ego taking precedence over democracy. Joe's love of power and prestige were big factors in handing Trump the Presidency. Forcing the Dems to put forward a candidate that many Americans voted for -- myself included -- but that America couldn't support sealed our fate.
Speculation at best. I don't think any of those things were what landed us, as you phrased it "in this mess". I would agree that the failure of the Biden admin to satisfy the American people that they were getting control of the "border situation" would have gone a looong way to preventing Trump rising from the dead. And Biden did not do a great job of telling the public about the very laudable things his administration was doing.
In any case, looking back and shaming and blaming not only gets us nowhere, it prevents us moving forward.

I’m thinking that Elon Musk might be getting his party circle by convincing them to change their voting status from what it is now to………? Or reach out to none registered voters, which is something that we can maybe do by starting within our inter circle families and friends and neighbors and for them do the same. Make sure people’s picture ID’s are updated and get one done if you don’t have one. Examples ID’s: Driver’s license, Real ID, College Student ID, Passport Card, not an expired passport though. It’s also a good rule of thumb to know who are the candidates running for reelection and the new candidates to fill in the vacant seats. By the way, Midterms Election Day is November 3, 2026. Therefore, it will be here faster than we think not. So, we have this entire year into next year 2026 to attend a community town hall meeting, or form one of your own with family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, place of worship friends and a place to meet. These are just a few ideas. There are two meetings via Zoom that I will be attending virtually.

I was out on the line protesting this obscenity, writing to my MAGA representative twice a week, attending town halls, not shopping at certain stores. Tell me what more to do and I will do it.
No argument there! I just think at the more local level, at least in my area, there needs to be stronger leadership. We're out protesting, even today in 95-degree weather, but the organizers haven't been getting the message out as well as it should be.
A year ago my older daughter rented a large house across the lake from us for the week of the 4th. Both she and my younger daughter along with my sons in law and my grandchildren. They live in California and Oregon, we live in Michigan, and the last time we were all together was for my younger daughter’s wedding 12 years ago. Both my sister and my husband’s families came yesterday. I got to see all of my family’s kids playing in the lake, enlarging descriptions of the sizes of the fish they caught and watching baby swans floating on the water. When it got dark, they had sparklers and small fireworks. For the first time since the election, I didn’t go out. I will next week. Being with my grandkids renewed my energy to fight for their futures. I’m in my 70’s. I won’t be here for the worst of this dystopian nightmare but they will and I will fight to my last breath.

My dad took me to my first civil rights march in 58. I was 7. He explained to me that it wasn’t right for some people to be treated badly because of the color of their skin. He actually explained to me that people who came from hotter places had darker skin because it protected them from the sun. As an Irish/Norwegian who turned red in 5 minutes out in the sun, I thought being black was a great idea.

My 78-year-old friend and I were at Hart Plaza in the heat and humidity yesterday for the Elbow Up! rally with Windsor, ON. sadly the majority at the rally were older people. Our local no Kings Day protest was great. 7,000 in a relatively small town. I was utterly amazed at the number of young people with their kids. It was like a massive party.
I can’t remember how we got the word out about the really big protests. Things like the Student Mobe demos in Oct. and Nov. of 1969. Oct was local at all the colleges and in November we all went to DC. That was the biggest one I remember. I couldn’t go to the huge women’s march because I was pregnant and on bed rest. That one was massive, but I think No Kings day had the biggest turnout ever.
We have some great leaders, people like Jamie Raskin, Pete Buttigieg, Corey Booker, Jasmine Crockett, Elizabeth Warren. All of them are speaking out loudly and freely. Most of the Networks are afraid to cover them. It’s an amazing repeat of 1930’s Naziism. First control the sources of information.
I’ve been thinking the continuing protests help us stay engaged with our communities against this regime and should also include massive voter registration drives- especially because we see their so- called laws to “protect against voter fraud.
I’ve been thinking we need people making sure they have birth certificates and check their voting registration status to ensure voters in massive numbers show up and vote these traitors out.

I received this email from the Social Security Administration this morning, read the title, and immediately moved it into my trash folder, certain it was spam, crooks zeroing in on a 71-year old woman perhaps losing her marbles. But then after seeing several posts about it being legitimate, I went dumpster diving and read it. I’m now considering saving it as my first personal introduction to this New World where I might have to get out of the f-ing rocking chair, pick up some rocks from my garden, and dig up my journalism degree, 1975, from Kent State. But this was so much better than spam. Spam doesn’t slap you upside the head and into the fight.

Be that as it may - we are forewarned - forewarned is forearmed. Whether or not they are successful in canceling elections in the future depends on what we all do starting, well, Monday.
We must operate as if elections will take place. We need to replace everyone at the local, the county, the State level that is MAGA. If you can, run for office. If you don't want to or can't, then support someone who will. WE have to be prepared. Local, County and State, as well as special elections are happening all the time. Let Florida beat it out and we can watch what happens there. And if you live in Florida, Pound on your City, County, and State officials and rally and do everything you can to reinstate that election as it plays out in Courts.
If we get democracy and freedom fighters in our local, county, and state positions on boards, on councils, in the Legislator and the Governor's office, plus more, then we have a fighting chance to take on the federal government as a whole body of people. We have to be prepared and it's going to take time, it's going to take work, it's going to take commitment and it's going to take building from the ground up.
Local, county and State elections are going on all over the place. We just had one in my state in May. There are also special elections. Check into what is happening in your area by contacting your County Clerk's office. They will have all the information on any upcoming elections.
They won't be happening in every state, but the are happening.

YES - Laws can be repealed. The damage can be fixed. We do have to act now - well maybe Monday! - but we need to get after it. We need to spread out together. That means big groups, but be working it at the local level supporting a candidate who supports democracy. OR run for office in your local community. Get on a board, then move up to a council, then move up to a state position, then move up to the Federal positions...
There is a lot we all can do to take it all back and building up the foundation can start now as there are elections everywhere coming up on school boards, water boards, recreation boards, fire district boards, university and education boards, city councils, mayors, judges, district attorneys, county boards, state senators, state representatives, attorney's general, Governors, Secretaries of State, and more and more and more. Check with your Cities, your Counties, your State for open positions.
We do have to get after Congress! They screwed us big time on Friday. I am going to read through every line of the 870 paged bill they passed and you can look in my substack for a breakdown of what is in that bill. It will take days and days to tell you, but I will share everything I find out. Check out my substack beginning on Monday for posts.
Lastly, there's truth in the fact that those of us on here are working hard at standing up, speaking out, trying to get the word out and passing it around. We all are doing everything WE can to do what we can! For all those people out there that don't know what's coming, that's who we can, if possible, reach out to, spread the word and have them spread it too. They are either living with their heads in the sand, or hoping you and I will save this Country for them... we need them - so if you know anyone like that, hopefully you can get them interested in what is about to happen to them and to get on board.

I call senators in every state. By their name and state i keep a zip code. They can't stop you from calling everyone of them. After the first couple months of this regime, I started keeping track of my calls. I'm already over 2000!!

Here are some things that we can do - and we should do because we defeat these people by building from the ground up. That means we start in our local communities, our Counties, our States. We do not all have to be out at rallies, or trying to out maneuver ICE. If rallies and protests are what you can and want to do, then you should. But while all that is going on, we need to be fixing this mess, as well as elevating the messages.
Here is a list of suggestions of anything, any one thing will make a difference, that you can or want to do: (The bill may be signed, but keep pounding on Congress about how it impacts you!)
Run For Office, Join a Group, Start a Group, Make Your Voice Heard!
If you want to join an established group, then look at the links below. Please do not wait for some leader to pop up and tell us all what to do. Be the leader!
If you cannot find a group, then form one and take action in your local area, keeping safety in mind, of course. When you take action, report it. Spread pictures, videos, write-ups, whatever all over the Internet in every media that will take it. If the horses won’t come to the water, we will take the water to the horses and when they are thirsty for ratings, they will drink!
We have to reclaim our local communities and all the boards, mayors, council people, district boards, school boards, library boards, water boards, recreational boards, city planning boards, county commissioners, sheriffs, county election boards, state legislators, AGs, Sec of State, Governors and everything else in between. We have to push out the hatred, bigotry, racism, phobia prone whackafools who want to tell everyone else how to live and get the message to go live your own life and let others live theirs. We can do this - this year, next year, and the year after that - and for years to come. Keep running our "freedom & democracy" candidates until we have it all back. If you cannot run for office, support someone who does that believes in equality and freedom!
You want a TOWN HALL MEETING? Don’t Wait for A Leader!
Set up a Town Hall Meeting without your representative. Hold the meeting and let everyone share. Take notes/meeting minutes. Send a copy of the official Meeting Minutes to their offices. Post them in newspapers and on every social media or other media you can. Make sure to put at the top who the representative was that did not show and where the town hall meeting was held. Then just report on what happened and all the concerns and questions. Hold these meetings weekly or regularly. Keep the pressure on even if they want to hide and pretend we/you all do not matter!
Then go out and contact a Democrat in your State and invite them to come talk in your district to answer questions. I will bet you they will show up!

If we are going to get our democracy back, we are going to have to build it up from the bottom and then out. Having democracy freedom people in the foundation will work against fascism. Go back and look at history. Also look at the history of the downfall of crackpot dictators and authoritarians. Having a foundation in place is critical.
Hi Addy, I want to add to this... Having people who truly understand democracy and freedom in the foundation of our country shows the population in that local community, in that county, in that state the kind of people we want to put in charge of the federal government and we do not have the MAGAs plotting another infiltration that will get them anywhere. Sure! Biden was elected partly on the promise to be a "bridge" President and make way for younger candidates in 2024. He did not do so. Biden let his ego get in the way -- "only I can beat Trump" -- which led to that disastrous first debate performance. Biden knew full well before the debate that polls showed most Americans thought he was too old for another round, but he didn't care. Again, ego got in the way. Biden then anointed Harris as his successor rather than calling for an open primary, which may not have been possible to have at that point -- again due to Joe's ego taking precedence over democracy. Joe's love of power and prestige were big factors in handing Trump the Presidency. Forcing the Dems to put forward a candidate that many Americans voted for -- myself included -- but that America couldn't support sealed our fate.
Speculation at best. I don't think any of those things were what landed us, as you phrased it "in this mess". I would agree that the failure of the Biden admin to satisfy the American people that they were getting control of the "border situation" would have gone a looong way to preventing Trump rising from the dead. And Biden did not do a great job of telling the public about the very laudable things his administration was doing.
In any case, looking back and shaming and blaming not only gets us nowhere, it prevents us moving forward.
So if you can come up with some good suggestions for ridding the USA of MAGA Republicans and restoring and improving American democracy, fire away.

I’m thinking that Elon Musk might be getting his party circle by convincing them to change their voting status from what it is now to………? Or reach out to none registered voters, which is something that we can maybe do by starting within our inter circle families and friends and neighbors and for them do the same. Make sure people’s picture ID’s are updated and get one done if you don’t have one. Examples ID’s: Driver’s license, Real ID, College Student ID, Passport Card, not an expired passport though. It’s also a good rule of thumb to know who are the candidates running for reelection and the new candidates to fill in the vacant seats. By the way, Midterms Election Day is November 3, 2026. Therefore, it will be here faster than we think not. So, we have this entire year into next year 2026 to attend a community town hall meeting, or form one of your own with family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, place of worship friends and a place to meet. These are just a few ideas. There are two meetings via Zoom that I will be attending virtually.

I was out on the line protesting this obscenity, writing to my MAGA representative twice a week, attending town halls, not shopping at certain stores. Tell me what more to do and I will do it.
No argument there! I just think at the more local level, at least in my area, there needs to be stronger leadership. We're out protesting, even today in 95-degree weather, but the organizers haven't been getting the message out as well as it should be.
A year ago my older daughter rented a large house across the lake from us for the week of the 4th. Both she and my younger daughter along with my sons in law and my grandchildren. They live in California and Oregon, we live in Michigan, and the last time we were all together was for my younger daughter’s wedding 12 years ago. Both my sister and my husband’s families came yesterday. I got to see all of my family’s kids playing in the lake, enlarging descriptions of the sizes of the fish they caught and watching baby swans floating on the water. When it got dark, they had sparklers and small fireworks. For the first time since the election, I didn’t go out. I will next week. Being with my grandkids renewed my energy to fight for their futures. I’m in my 70’s. I won’t be here for the worst of this dystopian nightmare but they will and I will fight to my last breath.

My dad took me to my first civil rights march in 58. I was 7. He explained to me that it wasn’t right for some people to be treated badly because of the color of their skin. He actually explained to me that people who came from hotter places had darker skin because it protected them from the sun. As an Irish/Norwegian who turned red in 5 minutes out in the sun, I thought being black was a great idea.

My 78-year-old friend and I were at Hart Plaza in the heat and humidity yesterday for the Elbow Up! rally with Windsor, ON. sadly the majority at the rally were older people. Anyone know how to light a fire under younger voters?
Our local no Kings Day protest was great. 7,000 in a relatively small town. I was utterly amazed at the number of young people with their kids. It was like a massive party.

I can’t remember how we got the word out about the really big protests. Things like the Student Mobe demos in Oct. and Nov. of 1969. Oct was local at all the colleges and in November we all went to DC. That was the biggest one I remember. I couldn’t go to the huge women’s march because I was pregnant and on bed rest. That one was massive, but I think No Kings day had the biggest turnout ever.

I’ve been thinking the continuing protests help us stay engaged with our communities against this regime and should also include massive voter registration drives- especially because we see their so- called laws to “protect against voter fraud.
I’ve been thinking we need people making sure they have birth certificates and check their voting registration status to ensure voters in massive numbers show up and vote these traitors out.
No close calls that FOX news can manipulate. Lines of people voting and waiting to vote after all these protests we see we have more numbers. It has to be like the voting registration drives during the civil rights fights in the 1960s.
Don't forget marriage licenses (and divorce decrees, if necessary) to prove name changes.

Let Florida beat it out and we can watch what happens there. And if you live in Florida, Pound on your City, County, and State officials and rally and do everything you can to reinstate that election as it plays out in Courts.
If we get democracy and freedom fighters in our local, county, and state positions on boards, on councils, in the Legislator and the Governor's office, plus more, then we have a fighting chance to take on the federal government as a whole body of people. We have to be prepared and it's going to take time, it's going to take work, it's going to take commitment and it's going to take building from the ground up.

Local, county and State elections are going on all over the place. We just had one in my state in May. There are also special elections. Check into what is happening in your area by contacting your County Clerk's office. They will have all the information on any upcoming elections.
They won't be happening in every state, but the are happening.

YES - Laws can be repealed. The damage can be fixed. We do have to act now - well maybe Monday! - but we need to get after it. We need to spread out together. That means big groups, but be working it at the local level supporting a candidate who supports democracy. OR run for office in your local community. Get on a board, then move up to a council, then move up to a state position, then move up to the Federal positions...
There is a lot we all can do to take it all back and building up the foundation can start now as there are elections everywhere coming up on school boards, water boards, recreation boards, fire district boards, university and education boards, city councils, mayors, judges, district attorneys, county boards, state senators, state representatives, attorney's general, Governors, Secretaries of State, and more and more and more. Check with your Cities, your Counties, your State for open positions.
We do have to get after Congress! They screwed us big time on Friday. Lastly, there's truth in the fact that those of us on here are working hard at standing up, speaking out, trying to get the word out and passing it around. They are either living with their heads in the sand, or hoping you and I will save this Country for them... we need them - so if you know anyone like that, hopefully you can get them interested in what is about to happen to them and to get on board.

I call senators in every state. By their name and state i keep a zip code. They can't stop you from calling everyone of them. After the first couple months of this regime, I started keeping track of my calls. I'm already over 2000!!
