By Ben Meiselas
Hi Meidas Mighty. It’s Monday, May 19, 2025. I turn 40 years old today. I could not be prouder than I am at this moment in my life, on my 40th birthday, seeing what we created together, and knowing it’s only the beginning.
Creating the MeidasTouch Network has been a labor of passion and love—and one of necessity to save our democracy and to rebuild the fourth estate.
We’ve built this network with zero outside investors. We’ve done it with zero outside money. We’ve done it with the help of you, the Meidas Mighty. We’ve done it with the help of our Substack subscribers. Please, if you can, subscribe now to this Substack or gift a subscription to someone you know to help keep us on top.
Our competition—like Fox and other cable news—is funded by oligarchs and right-wing billionaires. Not us. Make sure you are subscribed to the MeidasTouch Substack today, or gift someone you know a subscription to this Substack.
A friend of mine and host on the MeidasTouch Network texted me the following last night:
“Ben, in my opinion the reason people are flocking to MeidasTouch Network is because of the epic failure of not only msm but even some indie media non-stop dunking on Biden. It’s truly ghoulish.”
I agree. Just look at our coverage from yesterday. We cover things in more depth than corporate media refuses to. I never look to see what they’re covering at all when making our coverage decisions. I cover what I believe are objectively the most important issues of the day and give important international perspectives.
Just take our coverage yesterday, for example. We did a deep dive into the dynamics within India, where people are pissed at Trump for lying about brokering the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and lying about fake trade deals with India.
We reported on the Pakistan government doing crypto deals with the Trump family.
We reported in depth on the Romania and Poland elections.
We reported on China hosting a conference with Latin American and Caribbean countries in Beijing, where Chinese President Xi Jinping called Trump an unstable bully—without even having to utter Trump’s name.
We reported on the rising Treasury yield rates and their damaging implications for the economy.
We did in-depth reporting on Moody’s downgrading the United States’ credit score.
We reported on the natural disasters that have killed over 16 people in Kentucky, Indiana, and Missouri—and how Trump fired key workers at the National Weather Service, degrading the ability to forecast the storms.
We reported on Trump’s refusal to acknowledge the deaths caused by these natural disasters.
We reported on how the GOP budget bill will add at least $6 trillion to our deficit while cutting Medicaid, SNAP, and rental assistance.
As I look at this list of stories we covered above, it’s obvious that corporate news is either not covering this at all or relegating it to such little time or insignificance that people are not getting the info needed on the most important issues that actually impact their lives.
People certainly aren’t getting the needed geopolitical context and connections elsewhere that we provide on the MeidasTouch Network.
This has not been an easy year—that’s for sure. But it has been the most rewarding year of my life. On a personal level, I got married to the love of my life, Xochitl, and we had our first baby, Ximena, who was born 7 months ago.
At the same time, the MeidasTouch Network surpassed all cable news and all podcasts in the country as the most-watched and listened-to network (Remember to add the MeidasTouch Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify).
Most importantly, the growth of the network reflects a desire by Americans and people throughout the world to restore democracy, to restore normalcy, and to fight for the values and principles that Trump, MAGA, and right-wing authoritarians are trying to erase.
I am honored I get to spend my birthday with you—and to call you my friend in this Meidas Mighty movement. Thank you, friend. I am so grateful for you. You mean the world to me.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a member of the Meidas Mighty.
Thanks for all you do every single day.
The gains we’ve made for democracy since the election are not possible without you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
If you can, subscribe to this Substack today, or gift a subscription to someone you know—that would be wonderful to see.
We have major momentum, but because we’ve grown with zero investors, we need your help to stay number one when our competition—seeking to undermine democracy—is funded by billions of dollars. We’ve grown a lot because of the Subscribers on this Substack.
Thanks for helping us grow—and let’s keep on fighting!!
I’m going to spend some time with my wife and daughter today.
Happy Birthday Ben❣️❣️You should stand tall because your efforts have played a huge role in America surviving this brutal battle.
Happy Birthday to a fine man and true gentleman. Ben, truly appreciate all you do by reporting and offering honest perspective. I look forward to seeing how big and strong this network is when you turn 50. Enjoy your day, knowing the Meidas Mighty has your back.
