We woke up yesterday to the futures markets crashing. Then Trump posted “be cool” and then “this is a great time to buy.” Then, a few hours later, he posted that he had paused many of the tariffs on the world (but raised tariffs on China). The announcement of a “pause” pumped the market in ways that resemble a “pump and dump scheme.” In my opinion, there is market manipulation taking place. We will be fearless in our reporting of the market manipulation regardless of what Trump threatens to do to us.

The stock market now resembles a Trump “meme coin” or his other scams of the past.

As I’ve reported before, this is part of Trump following the authoritarian playbook of turning the economy into his “plaything” to force companies, countries, and people to beg for favors and exemptions and to make himself the indispensable and sole dispenser of who wins and who loses. In the end, however, America loses—and everyone in America other than Trump loses. Under the Trump regime, America’s credibility is zero. Trump swore he would never pause tariffs and now says he didn’t mean what he said. It’s pathetic and vile. It’s the behavior of a manipulator and abuser.
