In my opinion, Trump’s MAGA means, (Manipulating Arrogant Godless Asses).

My question for all Americans is this. If you just found out that you have a malignant brain tumor that is operable. Who would you choose to do the surgery, a brain surgeon with 25 years of experience, or an 18 year old who just graduated from high school with no medical experience?

Well we have elected a president with no political experience, not just once, but twice. It doesn’t take a genius to see Trump is a fish out of water as he tries to commandeer the country.

America has always been a country where the Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Poorer. Trump’s big bill proves that the love of money is alive and well with the people who need it the least.

To get a slimmy grip on Maga....a deep dive into cults and their followers should be done.

Thanks as ever for leading the charge; New Media (not to be confused with 70s New Journalism — though Hunter S would have loved podcasting) is the cavalry coming over the hill. In the nick of time.

Two quick points: living a half-hour south of the tragedy, we feel both local and federal offices bear responsibility. “DOGEthink” precedes Trusk by 45 years, back to Reagan “Government isn’t the solution. Government is the problem.” This disdain and disrespect for governance has been an excuse to be cheap (miserly, thrifty, whatever). The people voting down emergency management as recently as a month ago demonstrate Reagan/Bush/Clinton/Bush administrations’ attitudes are a moral abscess needing correction.

Second— we’re forgetting that despite the blessed interregnum of rationality, Trump is in a 2nd term, and no different than if they were continuous. Second terms kill reputations. Principle reason being after one term, personality-fatigue sets in and age becomes apparent.

With this schmuck, it’s doubly true.

Regardless of what the felon and his regime try to tell you, remember only 31.78% of Americans voted for him while 30.84% voted for Kamala Harris and a whopping 36.32% of registered voters didn't bother to vote at all!! He won by less than 1% - not a mandate, not a landslide. Of course, Muskrat's money helped and I still think the election should be investigated for fraud, cheating, stuffing the ballot box, whatever.

You know, I generally avoid maga posts like the plague. But right now, I am commenting on every post I see from them as they are complaining about Epstein and Trump. Even if it’s just directed at the administration. And I’m not kicking them while they are down. We have to play smarter. I’m instead seeming like I’m joining them. “I can’t believe they lied! I wonder what else they are lying about. I bet he’s not even doing any of this to help us at all!” This isn’t the time to say I told you so. We won’t get anywhere with that. We need to help the cracks form until they shatter. If we come at them, we know they form a protective circle around him. Let’s nurture the fire that they are feeling towards them until it’s a boiling rage and then they turn that against their own “king”.

Watching Trump mumble and confabulate, resorting to "the likes of which no one's ever seen before," tangenting off to insult CNN and Hunter Biden in the same rambling word salad.... It's come to the point where I know HE is insane, but now, so am I. Not so long ago, this used to be a nation of intelligence, or so we thought. So - which stage of grief am I in?

Expand full comment
MargaretPaci's avatar

Trump seems to use the same phrases over and over. Rambling is right, I watched him ramble and stutter trying to answer the question the reporter asked about the Epstein case. We as Americans want the truth about his involvement with Epstein, so no, we are not tired of talking about this case. Young girls were harmed mentally and physically.

I imagine the stages of grief might change day to day. This has been my experience, some days I say screw you to the administration, other days I feel extreme anger, to the point I rest my ears and eyes from the news. Denial, saying to myself it can be as bad as it looks, but the reality is it is. My anxiety and depression are present daily. The only part of grief I will not lend my mind to is acceptance. We cannot accept what is happening at this time. Fight those feelings. Fight for America, we deserve so much better.

You are in the stage of fighting until we win. Never give in or give up. Take a walk, smell the fresh air, get energized, like the energizer bunny and say to yourself, this is my country, I won't let him steal it from me. Think of all the harm he is doing to everyone and everything and instead of saying "how can he do that?" say "not on my watch." Participate in every way that you can or are comfortable doing. Push the grief aside, cry if you have to, but come back fighting stronger than ever. We all have to take small breaks from the madness of this regime to be able to handle it, but those breaks allow us to keep our sanity and grow stronger for the fight on our hands. We will win - it's just a matter of time. They are the insane ones, not us. God Bless, and step back, if you need to for a little rest and then come back and fight with us. We will carry on for each other in the meantime.

I am so dejected at the moment. I tried to have a conversation with my mom yesterday about all the bad stuff going on and the lack of checks and balances, which was always her “excuse” about why she was okay with supporting him.

She said she has enough in her own life to worry about and that I can’t save the world so I just need to stop. I told her that I really just want to hear that she doesn’t agree with the cruelty and the meanness. She can’t even say that to me.

If some homophobe started screaming “dyke” to me in the streets, I think she would run away - and then somehow find a way to victim shame me for their outburst afterwards.

I cannot even talk to my own parents - I have no hope for the rest of the other half of the country who have zero empathy and zero interest in stopping this fascistic slide. I only hope they wake up before it’s too late.

I begged her to stand up on the right side of history and for others and tell them: this is not what I voted for. But I guess it is after all.

Expand full comment
Bluesmurf's avatar

Well, it isn't what I voted for, so if you did not vote for it either, then WE, and 78 million other "WEs" did not vote for it either. WE can't let 25% of our population dictate to the other 75% how we are to live and who is going to tell us what to do, or try to scare us and create fear so we will NOT question any of this or push back.

You may not be able to convince your mother, and there are many family members in my family who I would never be able to convince, but, you can join up with all of the people who are fighting back, calling, writing, and rallying - plus anything and everything on the list in my substack. - see link below.

There's no point in trying to convince your parents to be different than who they are. I know that I couldn't convince mine, and in fact, they couldn't convince me to be anything but who I am and I can tell you they tried and one used some pretty dirty tactics to attempt to gain her objective. Didn't work.

Be the best you that you can be and like Ed said, talk about other stuff and avoid politics. When people try to engage me in political conversations that I am clearly not aligned with and I can see that they are not open minded or wanting to have a discussion, but try to bait me into a fight, I sit there silently until they change the subject. It doesn't pay to engage with someone who cannot even try to see the other side of an issue.

I have a chat room in my substack if you ever want to start a conversation there...in the meantime, if there are other things you would like to do, take a peek at this article in my substack:
