Important Message from MeidasTouch Founder

It’s Ben Meiselas, founder of MeidasTouch.

I’m writing this to you this morning because what we are about to do is unprecedented.

As the fascist regime of Donald Trump prepares to stage another propaganda spectacle masquerading as a “State of the Union,” MeidasTouch is doing something different.

We are hosting the People’s State of the Union.

And we are boycotting Trump’s lie-filled performance.

Let me be very clear about this.

The Trump regime does not deserve normalization. It does not deserve applause. It does not deserve the trappings of democratic ceremony while it attacks democracy itself.

This is the same regime covering up the Epstein files.

The same regime pushing unlawful tariffs after being rebuked.

The same regime attacking judges, immigrants, journalists, and political opponents.

This is the same regime sending masked agents to torture and terrorize and kill people accross the United States.

The same regime that treats the Constitution like a piece of trash.

So we are not playing along.

Instead, MeidasTouch is leading counter-programming in partnership with MoveOn and dozens of members of Congress. Senators. House members. Leaders who understand that we do not legitimize authoritarianism by clapping politely while it lies to the American people.

This is not symbolic.

This is historic.

For the first time in modern history, independent media is hosting a real alternative to a regime broadcast. We are not waiting for legacy networks to set the table. We are not asking permission.

We are building the table ourselves.

The People’s State of the Union will focus on truth. On accountability. On survivors. On working families. On democracy. On what is actually happening in this country instead of the fantasy world Trump constructs for his cult.

And understand this: the reason we are able to do this is because of you.

This community built MeidasTouch into a force strong enough to host our own national counter-event.
