Important Message from MeidasTouch Founder
Hey everybody, it’s Ben Meiselas, co-founder of the MeidasTouch Network.
Wanted to touch base with everybody this morning because we should all be paying very close attention to Donald Trump’s trip to China — and more importantly, what the media is not discussing right now.
China is downplaying Trump’s arrival. That’s the first thing people need to understand.
If you look at China Daily, Xinhua News, and the major state-controlled outlets in China, Trump’s visit is barely even being treated like a major event. That’s strategic. For China, this entire meeting is about dominance and leverage.
And Trump is playing this all wrong.
Trump is bringing a massive delegation of American CEOs with him. He thinks that’s a power move. He thinks surrounding himself with corporate executives projects strength. But what it actually projects is insecurity. It projects that Trump feels inadequate standing across from Xi Jinping by himself.
That’s what this trip is really about.
Trump knows Xi Jinping is prepared, disciplined, strategic, and operating from a position of long-term leverage. Trump knows he’s outmatched in these settings, so he surrounds himself with CEOs and business leaders because he thinks they can compensate for what he lacks.
But globally, the image being projected is devastating for the United States.
The image is America going to China to beg.
Beg for rare earth minerals.
Beg for supply chain access.
Beg for a deal.
Beg for economic relief.
And we are making this trip at perhaps the weakest moment imaginable for the United States on the world stage.
The Strait of Hormuz remains destabilized. Trump’s Iran strategy has backfired. Inflation is surging again. Consumer confidence is collapsing. Trump’s approval numbers are historically awful. Americans are struggling to afford groceries, electricity, housing, and basic necessities.
And this is the moment Trump heads to China.
Now let’s connect the dots to what happened last week.
Iran’s foreign minister traveled to China and met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. And the language coming out of Iran right now is incredibly important. Iran is openly talking about “reconstructing the security architecture” of the Middle East.
Think carefully about what that means.
What Iran and China are discussing is replacing the American security umbrella in the region with a China-centered power structure — one where Iran becomes the dominant regional force under Chinese influence and protection.
That is a massive geopolitical shift.
Because once America’s security umbrella collapses in one region, allies around the world begin reassessing everything.
If NATO credibility weakens, if Article 5 becomes meaningless, if American deterrence disappears in the Middle East, then countries in Asia start recalculating too.
Japan recalculates.
South Korea recalculates.
Taiwan becomes more vulnerable.
And from China’s perspective, they may not even need military conflict to achieve their goals. They believe American weakness alone accelerates what they see as inevitable unification with Taiwan and expanding Chinese influence globally.
That’s how Beijing views this moment.
And so what China is doing to Trump right now is psychological as much as geopolitical.
They are intentionally minimizing his visit.
They are refusing to elevate him.
They are treating this like just another routine meeting.
In fact, Chinese state media is currently spending more attention discussing regional diplomacy with Tajikistan than they are discussing Trump’s arrival. That’s deliberate. It’s meant to humble Trump and signal that China believes it holds all the leverage.
Xi Jinping is approaching this like a chess master.
Trump is approaching it like a branding exercise.
And no matter how many CEOs Trump surrounds himself with, it doesn’t change the underlying reality.
Now sure, there may be short-term market reactions. We’re already seeing stock movements based on speculation around this trip and the CEOs involved. But long term, this trajectory is dangerous for the United States if America continues projecting instability, weakness, and transactional chaos instead of coherent leadership.
Most importantly, ordinary Americans are suffering right now.
People feel the inflation crisis every single day.
When inflation has risen nearly 29% since 2020, people feel it in every grocery bill, every utility payment, every insurance payment, every rent check.
Something that cost $100 now costs $129.
Something that cost $1,000 now costs $1,290.
And in categories like groceries, energy, and electricity, the pain often feels even worse than the headline inflation number.
That’s why consumer confidence is collapsing.
That’s why people are angry.
That’s why people feel exhausted.
We’re going to stay on top of all of this throughout the day here at the MeidasTouch Network. We’ll continue reporting every development and cutting through the propaganda and spin.
Please make sure you continue checking our YouTube channel and our Substack throughout the day.
And if you can, please subscribe here and help us continue growing this community. We appreciate you immensely.
Thanks everybody.
