IMPORTANT Sunday Message from Meidas Founder
By Ben Meiselas
It’s Sunday. What a week it’s been. As you know, this Sunday post is my favorite of the week since I can take some time to hang out with you and reflect on the week. I’ve been doing these Sunday messages since last November right before Thanksgiving. Here we are again approaching Thanksgiving, and there is a lot on my mind as I am sure there is on yours. So grab a Sunday coffee with me, or your drink of choice, and let’s chat.
I can’t help but reflect on the paradox of last year’s Thanksgiving compared to this year’s. Last year, the country was in much better shape economically and across all metrics of performance under former President Biden. However, with the disastrous results of the November 2024 election and seeing corporations, news media, and public figures bend the knee to Trump, I think we all felt dread and we were all wrecked emotionally. On this year’s Thanksgiving, the country is doing horribly across every objective metric and that is terrible. However, the sense of dread about the November election has been replaced with a sense of hope as Trump’s approval has plummeted, there was a blue tsunami in the election from this past November, the No Kings protests have been a historic achievement, and independent news media has taken the place of corporate news imploding.
As we approach this Thanksgiving, I hold these complex emotions of feeling both the pain of our country suffering but also feeling more hopeful than I ever did before that there is not only a way out of this MAGA madness but a chance for generational change—so I can leave my baby daughter and her generation an inclusive and loving and empathic country that supports democracy.
I know a lot of attention has been spent on the major election races, Trump fawning over New York City Mayor-Elect Mamdani, the Trump cover-up of the Epstein files, and other headline-grabbing news. However, a data point I found most interesting is how Democrats swept the elections for School Boards across the country. From Ohio to Texas and all across the country, the MAGA School Board members lost to Democratic-aligned candidates who rejected the culture wars and focused on kids and common sense. For far too long, our politics has been turned into some gamified mutation where the most outlandish behavior was rewarded as if this were the island from a reality show like Survivor. Our politics became deeply unserious and sick, and it has been defined by the most unserious and sickest in the head and nastiest of them all, in Donald Trump. He has turned American politics into a grotesque, perverted pile of rage-smut, where the Republican Party has been reduced to a pedophile-protection operation covering up the largest child sex trafficking ring in the history of the world while also covering up the largest financial criminal enterprise in the world operating out of the White House.
Finally, it seems, as we approach Thanksgiving, the vast majority of people in this country want to get out of the hellhole loop of hatred and despair and return to some sanity and adult behavior. It upsets me greatly to see my fellow Americans struggling and fearful under this Trump regime. I wish I could do more than run a media company and help get us out of this mess. But as I reflect, what got us into this mess was the erosion of systemic safeguards in our Constitution and the checks and balances in government and in terms of media accountability. Where the MeidasTouch Network has found its calling—thanks to your support, of course—has been bringing back a vociferous and veracious press that fights for the people. We’ve inspired a robust independent media that we do not see as our competitors, but as our colleagues in this struggle to retake our country back from the hateful venom of Trump and MAGA.
For sure there will be tough times ahead. It seems in every report I do, there is more negative economic news and negative foreign policy news coming from the regime. That said, with every report I do, I see more people showing courage and stepping up. I see the American people meeting the moment now and recognizing their power. I see fear and hope. I see sadness and love. I see despair and joy. I see anger and compassion. As I said, it’s these contradictions we all grapple with. But it’s these contradictions that let us know we are human and that we are on the right track to a better future.
Last Thanksgiving, Trump and his henchmen were plotting our demise. Trump and Elon thought any resistance would be crushed before last spring or the summer at the latest. They failed to achieve their goal of total subjugation, and now the resistance grows stronger. We will continue to grow stronger, and now the regime is on the run… panicking… flailing… collapsing.
So as I finish my cup of coffee this Sunday, I want to thank you for sticking with all the work you do to fight for this country and for a better world. There is no MeidasTouch without the MeidasMighty, and you are certainly mighty in every respect. Thanks for subscribing to this Substack. You’ve helped the network become what it is today by subscribing. And for all those who haven’t subscribed, I hope you will do so today.
Thanks for sharing this coffee with me and listening to my chat

Thank you Ben, and the whole MeidasTouch Network for all the tireless hours of hard work making sure that you continue to bring Truth to Power.
I hope that when the house begins filing resolutions to impeach and remove Trump, that each resolution be on one point only. Then as soon as the senate rejects it, the house can submit another resolution on a different charge. And keep the cycle going until the Democrats can control both chambers again
After that, let the Democrats choose a Speaker who they can trust to serve as potus, then impeach Vance first and only then impeach and remove Trump.
It’s important to do things in the correct order.
