I read the news from several sources everyday and never saw a story about what has been going on in Gary Indiana. WTF?? I think climate change will be a huge factor in global instability going forward. Food and water are not luxuries for our survival.
Very fucking simple...we have go-bags in case of a conflagration that could destroy our mobile home in seconds here in Yucaipa, California. After that, then what? The insurance companies will not pay nor will the Trump regime that hates California, send any funds. Look at what happened to the folks in Altadena last year. Where are they now? I have watched the October and November fires of Southern California move northward. They are not confined to mountains and canyons; now they spread into the valleys. The hot desert winds known as Santa Anas and Diablos that used to occur in the autumn are now year round. But words like "global warming" are now among words that you just don't mention in public!
I lived through Hurricane Katrina and Gustave and the 2016 Flood in Louisiana (google it because no one in the country cared then either). The best way is to help each other.
Like it or not, it's a race to the extinction of the human race and lots of other species. I'm sure the billionaires have all purchased land as far north as possible. But will it still be there when all the ice melts? Probably not. It will all be under water. And if it's not the end from being unable to grow crops, research tells us it will come to a race for the last available resources simply because humans have very little self control. And that's all it takes to ruin it for everybody.
I'm glad I won't live to see it happen. I cry every day for my granddaughter.
He should be removed from office if he doesn’t put guardrails up to address global warming. It’s ridiculous that we have to placate to his narcissism. So we want to allow one person to push us to the brink of a climate disaster.
Mission Hills, Kansas. Tuesday we removed a 70 year old Oak just 4 ft away from our SW corner bedroom. It was shedding bark and our City Arborist said 3-5 yrs. We chose to remove now and not risk ever increasing climate change extreme weather.
I feel sorry for my grand children, and great grandchildren. What will they face in the future? Our government is complicit for not protecting the environment, not to mention protecting our people living in this hell scape right now. Everyone take care of yourself now nobody is going to save us.
I hear you. I’m concerned for what awaits my progeny too. To witness all that is being stolen from us as a nation and the disrespect that Trump is raining upon us. I only hope that I live long enough to see him get his comeuppance.
We had a very pleasant summer in Vermont. Sunny and dry mostly but enough rain (at night) to keep the grass green. However, in England in June, we had several brutally hot days. One day in London was 100*F!
Our Republican Gov. vetoed a bi-partisan bill in May to go slowly with AI and data centers. Now there are at least 4 locations being suggested by our power company, one just down the road from our town.
What I am seeing in Washington State is a prolonged draught due to very little snow last winter. In "The Evergreen State" where it rains "all the time."
Of course it's going to get worse as we hide out heads in the sand. In spite of the fact that we had not had extreme weather in Houston this year, we know it is coming. I like what William Tichenor said about Fat Jesus; we've got to get responsible people in charge!
In my neck of the woods (Azalea, Oregon, Southern Douglas County) we've had a relatively mild Summer so far. A few 100* days and some 90+* days, but for the most part only 80* and have even had some rare rainfall. No wildfires close (all mostly North and East of us this year). We totally lucked out with only about a day-and-a-half of smokey skies. A rare Summer, indeed. About five years ago we had to evacuate due to a very close wildfire (I live in the woods) and were not allowed back for about 10 days. It was scary and I hope we never have to live through that again. We were lucky and we lost nothing. Were even able to take our dog and three cats.
MY sister in Cave Junction said a fire got very close to her family's house this summer but firefighters managed to contain it east of town. Her family has experienced smoke off and on, depending on the direction of the wind. My spouse and I visited Crater Lake this summer but were unable to do much hiking because of the smoke. The smoke made for some interesting sunsets.

I live in Reno Tahoe area and Wildfires have been brutal. Extremely low humidity and increased winds that are unpredictable.
