It’s Official—Independent Media Can No Longer Be Ignored

I wanted to take a moment to expand on something I touched on this week during The MeidasTouch Podcast.

Watching my older brother Ben interview President Biden was one of those unforgettable moments in life. Ben has always been an incredible inspiration to me, but seeing him in the historic Roosevelt Room in the West Wing of the White House conducting an interview of this magnitude was surreal and something I’ll always be proud of.

But what really struck me in that moment was that it wasn’t just Ben in the room. It was all of you.

The Meidas Mighty—the passionate, dedicated, pro-democracy community that powers this movement—were the ones truly represented in that room with the President. Ben may have been speaking, but it was your values, hard work, and tireless advocacy that were at the heart of that conversation. Moments like these really remind me why I’m so proud to be part of this people-powered movement.

What makes the MeidasTouch network so special is that it’s independent media run by the people, for the people. We’re not funded by billionaires or corporate interests with hidden agendas. The Meidas Mighty community is the engine that keeps this going—a grassroots-driven powerhouse of everyday people who care deeply about truth, justice, and democracy.

This model keeps us accountable and true to our values, which is so rare in today’s media landscape. It shows that when a passionate, united community comes together, we can accomplish things that even corporate networks with billions of dollars of annual revenue cannot.

What struck me as well was how passionate President Biden was about the importance of independent media like MeidasTouch. I hope the example he set by participating in this interview is one that other high-level elected officials follow. In fact, I’d like to challenge them all right now to begin a new approach to messaging. They can even make it their New Year’s resolution. If you are a politician or a staffer, make sure you book at least five YouTube/podcast interviews each month (your TV host friends who have podcasts don’t count).

Independent media can no longer be ignored. It’s time to get with the times.
