MeidasMighty: I’m not going to sugar coat it. JD Vance just gave what may very well be the worst international speech by an American politician. Ever. Vance was speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany and, I’m not kidding, no one clapped during his entire speech except maybe three people who were part of Vance’s team. In fact, none of the crowd did much at all except stare in stunned silence at the complete ineptitude and audacity of the American vice president.
Vance tried to get away with lecturing Europe about how they run their own democracies, as if American democracy under the Trump administration is any sort of model to aspire to. Vance tried to tell Europe that they should just get over it if Russia interferes in their elections, even telling Romanians that their democracy wasn’t strong because they had the courage to reset their elections after a massive disinformation campaign from Russia. And I’m not kidding MediasMighty, everyone in the crowd sat in silence. Vance got no response.
Vance even made a terrible attempt at a joke, stating that if the United States could survive years of scolding by youth climate activist Greta Thunberg, then Germany could survive a few months of scolding by Elon Musk. It was not well received.
Clearly, Vance’s entire presence at Munich was just to defend his true boss Musk, who has faced tremendous scrutiny for backing extremist far-right party AfD in the German elections.
And by the way, Greta Thunberg isn’t German. She’s Swedish.
Later, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius took the stage and mercilessly mocked Vance and Trump, saying that he may not be the best deal maker in the world, but he knows enough to not give away all his best bargaining chips before negotiations have even started, referring to Trump’s bumbling response to the Ukraine peace negotiations.

Trump has already given away that he doesn’t want Ukraine to be a member of NATO, that he doesn’t think Ukraine should be entitled to their own land, and that Russia should be part of the G7. All of those a non-starters. Literally every single one. And yet Donald Trump has given away his position before the peace talks have even begun.
Then, Pistorius gave a speech where he absolutely torched JD Vance for attempting to lecture European democracies about freedom of speech, coming from a wannabe fascist administration in the United States. Pistorius later called Vance’s speech “unacceptable” for comparing Europe’s democracies to authoritarian regimes
The absolute audacity of Vance to speak down to European leaders, who are building a coalition as we speak to defend themselves against both Russia and a belligerent Trump administration! They know much, much more about democracy and freedom than JD Vance ever will.
“We fight for your right to be against us,” Pistorius said, referencing a motto in the German parliament. They fight for free speech. For dissension. For competing ideas. While Trump and Vance only silence opponents and seek to crush dissent.
Vance is an international embarrassment. Donald Trump is a laughing stock. The world is moving on from U.S. leadership because of the catastrophic policies and rhetoric of Donald Trump.
