All but 3 of them. Those 6 traitors to their Oath, our Constitution and our country will one day get their comeuppance after WE take back the House and Senate in 2026, and the White House in 2028 and IMPEACH ALL 6 of them and replace them! Then we can get rid of Citizens United, and undo all the damage they’ve done and will continue to do in their treasonous, monstrous form. We MUST do this, and that means everyone has to vote straight blue, no matter who, in every election going forward!

It will take a generation or two. It will NEVER HAPPEN that everyone will vote blue. That is magical thinking.

I sure do. "Give me liberty or give me DEATH” has always resonated with me. Some of my Ancestors opted to jump off of slave ships and drown themselves in the Atlantic Ocean rather than be held in slavery by the white men who stole them. I’m cut out of the same cloth and I’m not about to give up my freedom to a bunch of inbred neanderthals who are delusional enough to think they’ve been ordained by God to lord over anybody who is not a white man. Heck, even the little old grandmothers in the Ukraine are taking up arms rather than willingly giving away their freedom. Who the hell do you think you are anyway? Just do YOU and don't worry about what my plans are.

It had no appreciable impact on a successful career in government and university, but now that is all behind me I don't; have to do anything else except help to advance America's arc through the universe respecting government "by the people, of the people, and for the people." Any help you might give to that end would always be appreciated.

Yes, the first Amendment does give me the unlimited right to say things YOU might find hostile. And where did you ever get the idea that you can't call me a jackass? Maybe that word would be banned on some websites, but you are certainly free to call me that as well as think it. I suggest you go back and read the First Amendment. There are certainly a few things that are unprotected speech -- calling me a jackass isn't one of them. Feel free!

OMG u are tiring... are you a bot? crack open a book once in a while...

The First Amendment allows people to express hostile or offensive viewpoints, even those that are deeply unpopular or hateful. However, this protection is not absolute. When hostility manifests as speech that is intended to incite immediate violence, constitutes a credible threat of violence, or falls into the very narrow "fighting words" category, it generally loses First Amendment protection. The line is often drawn where the speech moves from expressing an idea (even a hostile one) to directly causing or intending to cause immediate harm or illegal action.

aka: not unlimited right to be hostile...

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

OMG u are not taking your own advice about cracking open a book once in a while . . . I suspect you're really a MAGAt, as you're resulting to insults here. But to clarify your points: how is my speech intended to incite immediate violence, how does it constitute a credible threat of violence, and how does it fall into the narrow "fighting words" category? How is my speech directly causing or intending to cause immediate harm or illegal action? What illegal action did you have in mind here? What immediate harm is it causing?

I think your problem is less with my speech than the forum in which I am employing it. Were I addressing Trump supporters, pretty sure you'd have no problem with what I'm saying.

We are far past the stage of deciding how bad Trump is, or that there is hard evidence of his crimes. While there are people caught up in the misinformation Trump spreads, even his supporters know he is not a 'good' guy, they just consider him 'useful' for their purposes.

It is time to start acting as though we will win the 2026 elections, and planning for what we do then, with another set of plans once we win the 2028 elections. Sitting here on the sidelines and moaning about how terrible Trump and his enablers are will not gather any more to our side. At this stage everybody thinks they know who Trump is. If you want to change any minds, make the case. Create a website to list ALL his crimes and abuses and sins, incompetencies and breaking of his oath... with ALL of the hard evidence for each of them until everyone will be in one of two camps, either acknowledging his unfitness for office, or denying ALL the evidence presented.

This is a simple set up for impeachment (Use secret ballot in the senate). Make it unbiased, factual, no fundraising, so that people who are curious for the facts will not be chased away, explain the consequences of each crime.

Next is to set up the legislative agenda, while it will be passed in congress, it is mostly about showing what will be passed once we win the Presidency again. Write the laws, plan the investigations, assert the independence of the legislature.

Plan for success, because planning for failure is too easy. Bring confidence and people will respond.

They have no clue on how to approach the obvious coming demise of the American experiment, why it is happening now, and what steps need to be taken. I'll post my letter to DNC tomorrow, but my Dutch heritage tells me my fingers are too small to plug the dike. What's happening now is a function of the DNC's insularity, its failure to conduct the necessary strategic audit, to organize the elected Democrats in Congress to cast themselves as a determined opposition loyal to America's democratic experiment. All DNC can see is elections and raising money. They have no clue how the Court's hijacking by the Federalist Society is implicated, how accidental in some respects Trumps' elevation is, how the more fundamental reasons for Trump's accession to power has to do with the impact of technology (computers, cell phones, so-called 'social' media (which are really its anathema), and the avalanche decline of the legacy media and imperfect replacement by other approaches to discourse, etc.. Fixing it is a long shot. I for one am going to keep showing up in the streets, commons, and wherever until the arc begins to return to our destiny to restore the American experiment to trajectory through the universe. I owe it to my immigrant parents, my kids and my grandkids, and the rest of my nation -- and the world -- to keep alive and strong this nation "of the people, by the people and for the people" to the end it "shall not perish from this earth."

It sounds like you think all Americans believe as you do. Hint: they don't. Many Americans are completely OK with Trump and what he's doing. Has nothing to do with being cowardly -- what Trump is doing suits them just fine. Until the Blues acknowledge this and counter with policies that benefit the interests of mainstream Americans rather than catering to the fringe, they'll be sidelined.

I don’t think that ALL Americans believe as I do. As far as I'm concerned those racist misogynistic, homophobic, xenophobic , psychopathic MAGA’s can fall off their flat earth along with trump and the rest of his gang of incompetent thugs. They ARE the antisocial “fringe" you speak of. Hint: MAGA’s live to hate, so they will never be satisfied with equality and the fair treatment of all, so fuck ‘em. And as far as the “blue leadership”, they’re riding side by side with republicans on the same corporate money train that services the wealthy so they won’t save us either. I’m ready for the country to divide and new parties emerge out of this pile of garbage and if it takes a civil war, fine.

To wage any kind of armed civil war the Army, Navy, Air Force etc will have to refuse to get involved . Otherwise they will be used as in California recently. To subdue, arrest, beat up any one they feel needs it.

Roberts is a coward and a deep disappointment to every person who believes in the Constitution and the rule of law. He will forever be known as the man who single handedly allowed our democracy to become an autocracy along the lines of the Third Reich.

Fuck Roberts and the robes he ruined our country in.

Actually, Biden should be up there as the man who single handedly allowed our democracy to become an autocracy. Had he fulfilled his pledge to be a bridge president and left his ego at the door, good chance we would not have Trump.

Interesting that Roberts still has some boundaries, yet Trump is still too afraid of him to come up with a childish nickname.

I'm thinking of the continuation of coverage for pre-existing conditions. But I guess even rich people suffer, if only slightly, intermittently and with style and beauty.

Frederick Douglass, “West India Emancipation” speech given at Canandaigua, NY, on August 3, 1857 https://www.blackpast.org/african-american-history/1857-frederick-douglass-if-there-no-struggle-there-no-progress/

"The whole history of the progress of human liberty shows that all concessions yet made to her august claims, have been born of earnest struggle. If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing up the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. "This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted …. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."

From the "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass": Douglass marries individual liberty denied to him and how his determination to be free ignited wokeness in his soul: “The silver trump of freedom roused in my soul eternal wakefulness.” The words amaze.

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

Do you think Roberts cares about how his court will be viewed? I don't. I think he loves the power, prestige, and perks that come with the position. And that's not limited to the Conservative justices. Happened with RBG, too. She should have stepped down when there was the possibility of getting another liberal Justice on the court. Instead, she let her ego have its day and screwed the rest of us.
