July 4th News Updates: Trump Has Made a Mockery of Our 250th
Nazis march through DC, the power grid buckles under record heat, and Trump spends the country's biggest anniversary posting memes about Pee-wee Herman

Hi all, Ben here. It’s Saturday, July 4. I want to start by wishing everyone in the United States a Happy 250th! The country may be far from perfect, but that’s exactly the reminder that our work is never finished. It will always be worth fighting for. And we will never give up on the values and principles that truly make this country great.
And remember: the reason we celebrate this day is because average people stood up to the authoritarians and bullies. You all represent the absolute best of this country and what it truly stands for. We must never lose sight of that, nor can we allow those who espouse values antithetical to what this nation is supposed to be dictate what patriotism is.
Here’s what we’re tracking today:
Trump’s “celebrates” the 4th with an early morning meme posting spree targeting Senators Jon Ossoff and James Talarico
A severe weather threat bearing down on DC just as Trump is supposed to give an outdoor speech
DC’s Independence Day parade canceled due to extreme heat
Dozens hospitalized, several on life support, at Trump’s National Mall state fair event

Iran’s IRGC shutting down the US-backed shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz
Massive farewell ceremonies continue in Iran for the country’s late leader killed in U.S. strikes
Pope Leo XIV delivering a pointed message on immigration from Rome
Roughly 400 Patriot Front members marching through Washington with Confederate flags
New reporting on the diamond ring gifted to Trump by a Belgian diamond group
A bombshell report that nearly a million people lost $3.8 billion on Trump’s crypto coin while Trump personally pocketed $636 million
