JD Vance, born James Donald Bowman, has undergone several name changes throughout his life, reflecting his complex family history and personal identity. His name changes are as follows:

James Donald Bowman

– This was Vance's original name at birth in 1984, taking his biological father's name, Donald Bowman .

James David Hamel

– After his parents divorced, Vance was adopted by his mother's third husband, Bob Hamel. His mother changed his name to James David Hamel, removing his biological father's name and honoring an uncle, David. Vance kept his childhood nickname "J.D." during this time .

James David Vance

– In April 2013, Vance legally changed his surname to "Vance" to honor his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Vance (known as "Mamaw"), who played a significant role in raising him. This change occurred just before he graduated from Yale Law School .

JD Vance

– In July 2021, as he entered politics, Vance removed the periods from his initials, adopting the stylized version "JD Vance." This change was primarily aesthetic and reflects how he is currently known publicly .

Vance's memoir Hillbilly Elegy was published under

This has been a wake up call for everyone, and if we can dare to make it until the 2026 election, there will be a blue wave like we have never seen before. But do you think they care that they need “charisma” while violating all of our rights? No, they don’t. Trump was merely a stooge for them. We can put the blame on Leonard Leo, the Kochs, Russell Vought, the Mercers, Ginni Thomas, Kevin Roberts, and of course, Elon and Peter Thiel. All white supremacists/Nazis. Everywhere else in the world sees him (and has done since the first time they set eyes on him) as a slimy, sleazy moron who hasn't changed his views since the mid 50's or his hairstyle since the mid 80's. He's a joke. He has that ugly, rich man thing going where he tries to convince himself that women give him the time of day due to his charm 🤣 and sex appeal 🤮, not solely because he buys them. He's so ridiculous, even North Koreans who take their own stupid looking cosplay king seriously must be shaking their heads.

There’s a segment of America, the same folks who send money to televangelists in order that the televangelists might purchase new personal jets…that find Donald J Trump utterly irresistible. And then there are the über-rich, the folks for whom Trump will carve out unbelievably wonderful tax advantages, will savage consumer protections to enhance profitability, and who will support Trump for their financial benefit. Thanks to these people, and the electoral college, we have an utterly unfit doofus in the White House. Many, many Americans are both horrified and powerless.

Stephen Miller’s grasp on power is tenuous at best. He’s one misstep away from the void of irrelevance he came from.

Expand full comment
Kurt Cagle's avatar

That's my read as well. Bannon is already gone, Musk is gone and actively angry, this means that Miller has become the de facto chief of staff. The problem is that Miller is an ideologue, has no real clue how to deal with administration, and is about as charismatic as a dead toad. Thiel is the money man, but he's a vampire - he's allergic to any kind of sunshine, which is one reason why you haven't seen him hobnobbing in DC) - too many very shady deals that wouldn't stand the light of scrutiny.

MAGA dies with Trump, who I suspect was Epstein's blackmail partner for the last several decades before Trump realized that Epstein was a danger to him. Everyone fixates on the underage sex, but Trump and Epstein were basically running a blackmail and extortion ring, probably bankrolled in great part by Russian money. JD Vance doesn't have that secret vault of blackmail material.

For the record, I don't think this is driven by a sudden attack of conscience on the part of the MAGA rubes. They know (at least the intelligent ones do) that he's a mafioso-style capo, a true sociopathic criminal (just like them). They got what they wanted in his obscene bill, and now he's redundant to requirements.

Will JD be worse? No, probably not. He doesn't have the political base, he has very little actual power, and frankly he's not ruthless enough. He will likely send Miller and the rest of the sycophants, idiots and ne'er-do-wells packing, but trying to keep the system still running after all of the damage that it's taken will consume his entire attention, and the worst effects haven't even begun to fully kick in yet.

If just for a moment one believed: God is everywhere, is in everything, is in everyone, and nothing happens except by the Will of God - yes, I'd be praying to the same God that put Trump in office.

This desolate path Trump is on, is his karma in this lifetime. Nothing could alter that, and if we look back, it's been written that Trump was infatuated with Hitler at a young age and continues to idolize him to this day. Nothing is original about Trump's behavior, decisions, plans to destroy American justice, American freedom, American democracy, America's beacon of light upon the entire world. Trump studied Hitler, stole his play-book, and that's what we're seeing today.

So the question remains: if this is Trump's karma that cannot be altered, how are the people that believe in America's goodness going to handle this evil situation, bearing in mind - we are all connected in the Great Spirit, The Creator, God?

Humans feel a need for SOME ENTITY to be at the helm of all the stuff going on in the world, - hence the praying & callling to a God up there to 'do something'. Fact is we are sitting on a giant rock that is floating in vast space with other giant rocks & giant balls of plasma & we do not really understand any of this existence. So to imagine something 'in charge' makes us feel better - fits into our belief in a purpose for everything. I have no idea what the reality is of all that, but I still find myself praying to WHATEVER is in charge to 'make it better'. It doesn't make any difference, people like trump keep on keeping on, and the world just carries on floating in space & nobody answers the questions !! However now that I'm 85 & leaving here any time, I really want to feel confident in an afterlife not for myself but for my family that I love so much. There is something deep rooted that will not let me just believe all of 'this' is for nothing ! All of that just produces a big argument with my own brain & no answers. So I perfectly understand the 'trust & obey'/just believe decision by any other human - it does PARTLY solve the big dilemma, just not very satisfactorily ! .

The BIBLE was written over time, translations are always questionable, but if they're supporting RACIST, HATE MONGER, SEXUAL PREDATOR like TRUMP, they're FAKE CHRISTIANS!

ICE GESTAPO is arresting PEOPLE on the streets - KIDNAPPING! NO WARRANTS! NO DUE PROCESS!

TRUMP is setting up CONCENTRATION CAMPS that VIOLATE HUMAN RIGHTS, ICE GESTAPO are reporting INCREASED DEATHS, PEOPLE ARE DISAPPEARING -WHERE ARE THEY?

INNOCENT People are being deported to THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES without DUE PROCESS, countries known for TORTURE & HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE.

FAKE CHRISTIANS are DEVOID OF ANY CHRISTIAN HUMANITY!

I am hopeful that this will have a real impact on him and his ability to further damage our country. But we’ve all thought this is what is going to be the end of his presidency and the return of sanity and the cult falls back in place. Fingers crossed.

Daniel, this is brilliant! Love Olbermann. My governor, JB Pritzker, would also be a participant in this. I really want to see this happen. This is a way to show real power of the people. Stop paying for the seditionists and criminals to run the country!

He doesn’t shy away from calling the Felon a Fascist. But you’re correct on hearing from him real recently. It’s my hope that he’s working on the fed tax withholding with other Blue State Govs. It would take a lot of legal input.

Let's hope Trump doesn't go on a full destruction mode before he is finished moreover who will replace him shady Vance, obsequious Miller or another of the evil clan? Karma needs to finish the job and fast.

The problem continues with Vance, who is malleable and follows more intelligent but just as evil handlers like Vought and Thiel. Miller is a canker on the mouth and needs to have his evil channeled where no one cares.

I,too,am hoping this will be the demise of his vile actions. This may be what puts an end to his childish, evil destruction. We'll have to contend with JD Vance, but he doesn't have the respect or following of the people behind him.

Exactly!! He is a cult leader, they don't respect him, they fear him. And we know there is a big difference.

Our only hope, should Vance become President, is that his wife — a staunch Democrat who worked for a prominent Democratic law firm — will rein him in. Apparently, his mother-in-law, a Professor at San Diego State, was the pioneer of the DEI program at her job! I'd like to be fly on the wall at their family dinners!

Very hard to understand that man. He looks at his wife & their 2 handsome but very brown children & still spouts the crap he does. Does his wife believe he is secretly a Dem & tolerates his career because of that ? I do not understand how she manages to stay in the same room, let alone his bed !!!
