I just read this in Tiedrich's column: "Holy Mike Johnson could end the Mad King’s de-facto monarchy in a heartbeat, if he wanted to.

he could gavel the House back into session, and take back its Constitutionally-mandated power to control the purse strings. he could also exercise the House’s power to control tariffs, putting an end to Donny’s incoherent trade war insanity.

he could agree to Democrats’ demand to restore the ACA tax credits, and end the shutdown." But Johnson was picked for his desperation to be relevant and his spinelessness. His sycophancy to Trump is disgusting and his lies are oh, so un-Christian!

Thomas, one of my small joys in the dangerous and destructive Trump Regime is to call Little Mike Johnson a few times a week 202-225-2777 and call him out on whatever horror he’s collaborated with that day, always ending with a reminder of the Biblical Commandment re lying, that God sees all, and Jesus never said the ends justify the means. “It’s sad you’ll be burning in hell cuz of Donald Trump”. 🔥😆

littlejohnson has his excuse-

rump made me stay closed and not to talk to Dems. No proper Judge would accept this as a not guilty reasoning! And the American public won't either!

Like,uh,just following orders, or everybody was doing it!

Mikie is corrupt or a coward, or BOTH!

Johnson's from Louisiana.

"Louisiana has a well-documented history of political corruption, often described as a cultural norm that has persisted through various administrations. This reputation stems from a legacy of practices that have allowed officials to exploit their positions for personal gain, despite attempts at reform."

The current crop of politicians would make Huey Long blush!

Kelvin Hobbs's avatar

Why would he do that? The status quo not only suits but benefits him. He + Thune + Roberts +5 (other SCOTUS "umpires" - his term) + Bondi*+ 9 people + The Manchurian Candidate, aided by many complicit co-conspirators, essentially control the U.S.

[Edit: *Delete Bondi (the demon poppet) and replace her with Uncle Vlad, Kukly 47's Geppetto]

He's a nazi supporting a nazi regime. They're all evil corrupt criminals stealing more money then they ever dreamed of. They're happy. There's no way they'd end this nightmare. The American people are suffering, the nazis don't care, they are thriving.

Winston Churchill said this on July 14, 1941. The sound of its echo vibrates well almost 85 years later (https://tinyurl.com/bdzy2d4b):

"We will have no truce or parley with you, or the grisly gang who work your wicked will. You do your worst and we will do our best." Perhaps it may be our turn soon; perhaps it may be our turn now."

Thank you Ben and Michael 🫶🏼

BF's avatar

Dear Ben & Michael,

Agree with Jacqueline that we should all be exceptionally grateful to the two of you!

BF's avatar

BTW, Ben & Michael, the following legislative recommendation has been submitted by me to AG Dana Nessel, AG Nick Brown, AG Rob Bonta, AG Kwame Raoul & AG Letitia James.

You know all these AGs so I'd appreciate your conveying the request for the following legislation to the extent their State does not have Laws that Enable them to Enforce Protection of Residents in their respective States.

We need STATE Laws that prohibit detaining ANYONE without a valid arrest warrant.

Any ‘agent’ with such a warrant must NEVER be masked when apprehending a person. They must identify themselves and have their badge and name prominently displayed.

Any action by an ‘agent' other than what is explicitly allowed by law, should subject the ‘agent’ to criminal charges, arrest, and due process prosecution.

If convicted, the President would have no pardon power, because the crimes would be State Crimes and only the State Governor would have such power.

Any pardon would have to be reviewed by an independent, non-partisan group of lawyers, to determine if a justification (e.g., terminal disease, inappropriate verdict) exists to grant a pardon.

Only after such a review and determination would a Governor have the authority to pardon a convicted ‘agent.’

“Agent" = ALL Federal and Federalized personnel, as well as, authorized State personnel.

Thank you

Debra K's avatar

States absolutely need to do more to push back against all these unlawful and unconstitutional actions by Trump and his Militia. I’m no lawyer, but this seems like a great suggestion. When Trump declares “federal supremacy” they can use the case where the Roberts Court is okay with women bleeding out in parking lots rather than follow federal EMTALA laws.

BF's avatar

Thank you Debra and that would be some amazing irony for States to use that case!

How is he still here? Attacking people, being his usual obnoxious self. At least he has learned how to spell morons, the ‘mornos.’

Way back when email was the new kid on the block and 'flame wars' were all the rage, I decided to be overly polite and then never interact, again.

Without doubt, the best approach to 'trolls' is a polite tip-of-the-hat and then total silence, forever :)

Appreciate your comment and take care, Roberta. Ty

I agree it would be great to know. Cohen said he made 7 billion in 7 months. Him and his whole family are corrupt criminals without conscience.

“Mr Cheeto, Tear Down This Ballroom!”

Echoing Reagan’s words to Gorbachev WE the People have had enough with Cheeto’s government carnage and blatant disregard for rules because they seemingly don’t apply to him This calls for a French Revolution which led to the beheading of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette but this time 21st century style with the political beheading of Cheeto, Just Dance Vance, and all sycophants

After that there needs to be political exigency with legislative militancy 1 The failied coup by the US billionaires needs to punitive The wealth gap needs to be closed by tax gap legislation simplifying the tax code so the wealthy class pays 50% tax 2 The illegimate SCOTUS needs to be expanded to 13 justices 3 Cheeto’s edifice to himself ballroom needs to be partially demolished to 50% (45,000 sq ft) and named the People’s Ballroom 4 Put the country on gold standard and join BRICS 5 Codify Roe v Wade 5 Strong Immigration Reform Bill and discontinue ICE 6 Voting rights protection with a stop to gerrymandering 7 Legislation to limit Executive Branch with penalties for abuse

As was seen in 18th France WE the People hold the power and our anger should be displayed with a rapid legislative agenda to decapitate the MAGA movement and begin rebuilding our government by and for the People

Ordinary Men: The 101st Reserve Battalion of the German Police and the Final Solution in Poland

Reserve Battalion 101 was made up entirely of ‘ordinary’ Hamburgers: workers, bakers, butchers and other middle-class, most of whom were in their thirties and therefore too old to fight at the front and had to advance to the second line by being incorporated into an Orpos battalion. American historian Christopher Browning [author of] Ordinary Men: The 101st Reserve Battalion of the German Police and the Final Solution in Poland (1992) poses the confronting problem of how men and women put in a certain position can obey iniquitous orders.

Ordinary Men focuses mainly on the members of the Ordnungspolizei and, more specifically, the policemen of Hamburg’s Reserve Battalion 101, a troop that shot just under 40,000 people and put many more on the train to the Bełzec killing centre, making it one of the most successful of the Einsatzgruppen. The men [of the Polish village of Józefów] were allowed to refuse and would not be punished for doing so. But only 12 of the 500 men accepted the offer, and the rest set off on their first shoot-out, on 13 July 1942, killing some 1,500 men, women and children in the hours that followed.

Ordinary Men shows the insane brutality of the battalion and the lines between the normal and the unbelievable. Some (a minority) were born killers and became increasingly sadistic, but many had to find excuses to justify themselves. After all, it was their job, they’d been chosen for it, you could hardly abandon your colleagues and let them do it all. And wasn’t it better to kill the children too, who would have no father or mother anyway?

Thank you Kelvin for this posting. That we should never forget. A tall order in this our “United States of Amnesia”.

Kelvin Hobbs's avatar

Don, thank you for your thoughtful and inspiring words. Yes, in my view, as well, Tikkun Olam (Repairing The World), is a collective moral imperative, rooted elsewhere, perhaps, but also in the Pirkei Avot (often translated as "Ethics of the Fathers") at 2:16: "It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you at liberty to neglect it." It is a clarion call: act to advance humanity, even if you do not finish; in time, others will.

The concept was modernized by the great Civil Right leader and Congressman John Lewis: "Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."

The lyrics below remind us that we, all of us, are the people we've been waiting for, and that the moral imperative of Tikkun Olam is a responsibility we all share. No looking away: "What the eye doesn't see and the mind doesn't know, doesn't exist." ~ D.H. Lawrence

We Are the People (2021) song by Martin Garrix https://tinyurl.com/7yueckjs

We are the people we've been waiting for

Out of the ruins of hate and war

Army of lovers never seen before

We are the people we've been waiting for

We are the people of the open hand

The streets of Dublin to Notre Dame

We'll build it better than we did before

We are the people we've been waiting for

We are the people we've been waiting for

“ … in order to form a MORE PERFECT union.” Meaning there was -still is - room for improvement. Kevin, let us be “improvers” and not destroyers. All best to you my friend.

Kelvin Hobbs's avatar

Don, two parts in addition to thank you:

1. As to the substance of your response, absolutely yes!

2. "More perfect" always makes me laugh. Perfection is an absolute concept. "More perfect" is equivalent to "below absolute zero." Must be the Kelvin scale as an absolute temperature scale thing in me. Kelvin 😉

Don Buckter's avatar

Kelvin … I’m down totally with “Tikkun Olam”. … BTW, I’m not a Jew (by any standard definition) but that has nothing to do with anything in my book. It all comes down to, “We The People”. … All best, Don

Does anyone here or the host know about trumps new presidential national security memorandum number 7 where lays out plan to accuse persons to be terrorists . That label strips all civil and constitutional rights and subjects detainment no habeus corpus or trial and can be for life. Trumps plan allegedly us to label all protesters as terrorists I. This may include Democrats in Congress. And authorizes hit squads of federal law enforcement against those that trump picks

And maintain a terrorist watch list

This may be a felony to usurpour rights per constitution and subject trump to be prosecuted for felony civil rights crimes.

This memo has allegedly been sent to all federal law enforcement agencies and ice. This is pure Nazi gestapo..

Jo Dee's avatar

Thank you for mentioning this! We should be hearing about it much more. People need to inform themselves and read it if they haven't. It can be found online easily by typing: National Security Memorandum #7. The implications are chilling, to say the very least!

Margaret B's avatar

I just found Truthout's article from yesterday about a number of people who were protesting in July outside an ICE detention center in Dallas, TX who have been held for months and, if I read it right, were charged with terrorism shortly before NSPM-7 came out:

https://truthout.org/articles/these-dallas-residents-are-on-the-front-lines-of-trumps-war-against-antifa/

Margaret B's avatar

More on the people arrested from that Dallas protest. The date of the protest was July 4, 2025. A total of 18 people have been arrested and some of them were connected to people at the protest but didn't even go to it themselves. A group has been formed to support them, the "DFW Support Committee." (DFW stands for Dallas-Fort Worth.)

From their website:

"The framing of the case by the federal government should worry all of us. The glaring inconsistencies in the official narrative and the alarmist accusations are a clear attempt to bolster the Trump administration’s claims that the United States is on the verge of chaos, and to excuse a dramatic increase in militarized police action. This, in turn, will almost certainly be used to justify sweeping expansion of repression not only of popular movements but all political activity in opposition to Trump and his regime. As such, what is happening to these 18 people should be a concern for anyone who does not want to see this country descend further into authoritarianism."

Jack Smith's information makes me wonder if there's anything that occurred before Trump's inauguration for which he could be sued, as his immunity wouldn't apply. Of course if 2024 election interference investigation would resume that would be even better!
