The robe doesn’t make the reckoning—but sometimes, it begins there.

This shift isn’t loud. It’s not spectacle. It’s the quiet, procedural return to principle. A courtroom holding its breath. A judge drawing a line not in politics, but in precedent. And still—beneath the rulings, the filings, the forms—something more human pulses.

What does it mean to resist not with fury, but with fidelity? To stand not above, but within the law, and still dare to say: enough.

Maybe justice doesn’t roar. Maybe it rustles, rises, roots.

Who else is listening?

Still watching the ground shift, with you ♾️

What are you noticing?

Seems to me we quit paying ElSalvador for housing them they would send them back

Barbara Gierzak's avatar

I'm afraid they will exterminate them, because they don't want to spend money to return them.

No one—load and clear, boys and girls— stopping trump is LOCAL!!! What the hell. No don’t you dare explain it to me! I’ve read 3 times on substack that the only way to stop trump is local. My response- you are out of your minds. There is the American disappointment of the century. Shame on all of you.

Just had a thought. If they did not include a clause in the contract, about having the right to recall these people from El Salvador, the right to return them for prosecution, or if proven innocent, then the lawyers should be charged with negligence; BUT if they have no way whatsoever of returning these people, but paid all that money to El Salvador, that means they SOLD them to El Salvador, which means they have committed PEOPLE TRAFFICKING! 💥

Cynthia Eklund's avatar

Great point! If true, ACLU should press charges! Also, if America is paying el Salvador to house these men….., isn’t Congress in charge of the purse? How can Trump commit OUR money for this purpose? Surely Congress did not authorize this expenditure. Congress must do something about this!

Yvonne Hughes's avatar

Yes..... Congress SHOULD do something...... However, it's sadly worth remembering, that the MAGA GOP in Congress have ALL voluntarily had their backbones removed, and therefore DISHONOUR their Oaths EVERY SINGLE DAY, in deference to this LUNATIC TRUMP AND HIS FASCIST IDEOLOGIES! They are also sadly, in the MAJORITY in BOTH HOUSES!

Could be a very clever way of money laundering, imo. Did the full amount of money stay with the President of El Salvador, or was some paid as a pay off, and the majority transferred to offshore accounts of a certain someone/family, 🤔 who knows, I have no idea, but maybe entirely possible, imo.

Alison's avatar

Sorry. I need to apologise - My logic is incorrect. The money only went to El Salvador, so it's not a sale, as technically there was only an exchange, people and money for services. However, the people if not legal residents in America have still been people trafficked (imo) due to the fact they were not all deported to their birth countries and were not given chance to leave the country, to a country of their choosing. They could have been assisted with application for assylum, in other countries, and allowed to stay in America until a safe place was secured for them to go. They were not allowed to return home, or collect anything, tell anyone. So by my logic, it was against their human rights and physical safety. Surely people trafficking doesn't just include the exchange of money, if not it could be modern day slavery, as they have supposedly been put in a hard labour facility, against their will.

Is it possible for Abrego-Garcia's wife to file a defamation suit on his behalf against Trump and his toadies for the continuous spewing of smears and lies against him and would she be able to get an injunction to get them to STFU? They won't say in court what they are saying in interviews because they have no evidence, but their lies become accepted by far too many as "fact" by virtue (vice?) of the continuous flood of the lies going out to the public.

"Farmers in deep-red state spell trouble for Trump, as he mocks the Constitution."

"Before this week, I didn’t think I could feel any deeper shame than I felt in February, watching Trump and Vance in the Oval Office attacking a real hero of democracy, Ukraine’s President Zelensky. Then, on Monday, Trump sat in the same chairs with President Bukele, brutal dictator of a notorious banana republic, and invited him to openly mock the United States Supreme Court.

Trump and Bukele tag-teamed their choreographed refusal to return Abrego Garcia to the US, which amounted to telling the Supreme Court ‘No,’ they will ‘not’ obey its unanimous order to remove Garcia from the El Salvador hell hole where Trump is paying Bukele to keep him." (Raw Story)

He’ll “pay off” the farmers to keep them in the fold. And it won’t come cheaply.

Watching this video and hearing about the fearless ACLU attorneys who are working tirelessly to stop these illegal deportations makes me so glad that I decided to become an ACLU Guardian of Liberty (monthly contributor) the day after Trump was re-elected. What an incredible organization!! I’m proud to be a member.

Let’s be clear. Trump didn’t figure anything out. He’s too stupid for words. That is part of the problem - people think he’s coming with this shit! Not possible! Stephen Miller, is the orchestrator behind everything. Obviously, he doesn’t do it all, but he “facilitates “ it all.
