My heart breaks for Garcia, I can't even begin to imagine what he is going through. Even if/when he finally arrives home the fact that he was even sent to El Sal prison to begin with will likely haunt him forever. Needless to say, the one thing tRump and admin are good at is royally screwing up. Bring Garcia home!!

This is sick and sickening. They are sending people to a foreign concentration camp and courts are bickering with them. This is a process of gradually acclimating us to believe these things are normal. This is an absolute national emergency. We are under attack from inside our own government.

Expand full comment
Brian Burton's avatar

Yes! Conditioning people to think this is normal is what it's all about. That's why they're stonewalling on Abrego Garcia. They don't dare acknowledge that what they're doing is inhumane and in fact indecent. They don't dare admit that they can return the unlawfully detained. If they do, their whole kidnapping operation goes out the window and they are forced to treat the people they grab off the streets as human beings who have rights under the Constitution and under any notion of natural justice. It's vital that they be stopped here and now and that SCOTUS finds the guts to do it.

DMC's avatar

Yes, and even the commentators here discussing his situation seemed to me not to be recognizing the seriousness of it. They did use the term concentration camp, but they also kept chuckling about the judge's orders and responses from Stephen Miller, etc., and nothing about the tone suggested to me that they are contemplating the hell this man and other unjustly imprisoned people are living in if they are alive at all. And then abruptly switching to promotions and celebrating themselves for all the followers. My mind is on people inside of concentration camps. The horrors of that era and those events are made even more dire now that I recognize how casually and unfazed the German citizens must have been when they discussed it. This is all insane.

Expand full comment
Brian Burton's avatar

"Insane." Yes, definitely. Deliberate viciousness. And swaggering contempt for the court. But the people who chronicle all this have to laugh or they'll cry. It's already been a long slog — and moral is important to the ability to keep fighting.

Stop the Immigration Cruelty

We’re now into 80d of the Cheeto Strongman’s Nazi regime and a long way to go but the immoral unconstitutional treatment of immigrants is reprehensible And now there is the beginning of the family separation policy that occurred during the last Nazi regime In this police state people are swept off the streets, visas unknowingly revoked, and now the combing of government IRS data to “get the goods” on tax paying immigrants so that their citizenship can be deleted so that they can be sent to concentration camps domestically and to foreign countries This patriotic cleansing is monstrous activity is condemnable on so many levels but of course the point is not anything more than cruel Just as the ongoing Gaza genocide is happening and Americans are unsettled with that, Americans stand by justified in their country’s disgusting treatment of fellow human beings is shameful Currently the regime is asking for billions of dollars more in the budget to support this sadistic policy

How can it be that we a nation of immigrants treat our successors with such inhumane dictums? If you have any sense of common decency or for that matter a soul such treatment should be vehemently

Unless we speak out we are complicit with these disgusting treatments of our fellow human beings Because this purge is just the beginning Next it could be LGBTQ+ advocates, drag queens, student who speak out, news organization celebrities critical of the regime, comedians who joke about the Der Fuhrer, any marginalized group will be sent off to the gulag

Protest loud Protest often Make your voice heard This is not acceptable in America and we need to let the Nazis know our disgust

I do not understand how people chatter about this and even giggle as they discuss it when "it" is US citizens being kidnapped and sent off to foreign prisons with no recourse. This is not a casual conversation. This is so freaking alarming and people just discuss it like it is some barely consequential civil case.

Have you seen these plans by Pres Trump?

Excerpt from Sherrilyn Ifill;

"Over the past three weeks Trump’s monstrous reign has shaken this country to its core.

(And yet) Trump is preparing plans to move U.S. citizen-prisoners to El Salvador. This plan will involve either engaging in the mass denaturalization of naturalized American prisoners, or the purchase property in El Salvador with the intention of declaring that property U.S. territory with the consent of the government of those foreign nations. It is a brazen effort to turn U.S. prisoners into virtually stateless persons, to disappear them, and put them beyond the reach of our view.

Why? This is the ultimate intimidation move by Trump. As he prepares to have his Attorney General to investigate those who disagree with him and as Trump seeks ways to undermine the potential for mass protest, holding the threat of not only arrest and potential incarceration, but disappearance to a foreign gulag is a monstrous, yet effective means of stifling dissent.

But Trump’s next move – in fact the primary focus of his thinking – has been how to remove American citizens to foreign prisons. And the group upon which he will workshop the next stage of his plan is: incarcerated citizens.

Every one of us deemed inconvenient by this Administration will be under threat. And every time Trump is successful, he grows more emboldened and more convinced that nothing can stop him."

So how will we stop him???

Too many Americans are still sleepwalking off the cliff of democracy thinking none of this will happen to them and the 2026 election will not be rigged. Musk has all our data and no one would even know if he uses Grok to round up dissenting natural born citizens in the middle of the night and ship them off to El Salvador. The SCOTUS SCROTUMS brought us this nightmare and they're continuing to enable the most destructive nincompoop on the planet's delusions of grandeur.

Hi Ben and Jordy, I wish you would devote live programs to the evil, cruelty, sadism of the Trump regime, in graphic detail, regarding the human hell concentration camp in El Salvador, which we are funding through our taxes. it's commandant/president of El Salvado, Bukele is coming this week. Americans are told more about the legal issues and less about the horrors which need to be graphically detailed over and over again. Thank you.
