Cory Booker was unbelievably fantastic and amazing.

I admire and respect his effort, but in the end it was just a delaying tactic. IMO, nothing will really change. This will not inhibit Trump and the Republicans in Congress.

You may be underestimating the extent to which Booker's speech is galvanizing Democrats and others across the country who are deeply concerned (and/or freaked out) both by what Trump and the Republicans are doing and by the totally inadequate response of upper-level national Democrats. We're desperate for active leadership. Booker provided it, and along with it a reminder of what this country is supposed to be about.

It did and will change one thing, at least: the perception that nobody in Congress cares enough to do anything. THAT is a beginning imo.

Wants to bankrupt the country so all the oligarchs buy everything and have us all working / renting from them on very low wages.

I was just about to enter a comment, but then I read yours which nearly the same thing I was going to write. If you've ever read about the Great Depression of the 30's (other than Steinback) this is exactly what happened when family farmers couldn't meet their mortgage payments and numerous otherwise sound businesses all across the country went bankrupt. The ultra wealthy swooped in and picked valuable assets for pennies on the dollar. IMO, this is precisely what Trump is up to. Not only is he destroying the economy. but he's insuring that even people with a nestegg won't survive once the Social Security Administration and Medicare are gone.

I believe so too. There is more to his tariffs it’s not his plan he’s to stupid it’s the 2025 plan and they are ready. I’m really thinking he really didn’t win the election too many leaks in his idiotic rallies I heard. I don’t need your votes, you’ll never have to vote again THEY have taken all the guard rails away who’s gonna stop him from doing anything he’s got everyone fired in the FBI etc. etc. etc. like I said no more guard rails nobody to hold him responsible for all he’s done. He’s taken over our government. He’s going to stop it. He’s gonna get rid of federal government completely. It’s gonna be his government just like a dictatorship. It’s totally scary.

Pure capitalism does not work without slavery.

*Everyone* needs to understand this and why the administration is attacking unions and his hardon for tariffs. He romanticizes a time when the rich pulled in millions and the not rich starved and died as illiterate paupers.

1890’s the the biggest depression now again in 2025. President Coolridge did the same thing pretty much and he was assassinated so there’s that.

I’ve been wondering how the very busy Supreme Court, which has to decline most of the requests across the country, has the time to address Trump‘s every little complaint. And I’m not just being sarcastic, I really want to know why they always put everything else aside to look into his concerns.

Because the stakes are high when the president is involved. They already gave him full immunity for any crime committed while in office. We'll see by their rulings if they're beginning to question that disastrous decision.

While Trump has immunity in the face of outright treason, Vance does not have immunity, Hegseth does not have immunity, Walz does not have immunity, Patel does not have immunity, Gabbard does not have immunity, Musk does not have immunity, I'm sure there are others. Charges may still be brought if we somehow remove this blight.

The only question then is who has the guts to bell the cat? Aesop's Fables: "Belling The Cat". Musk was right out in front of everyone paying people to vote. Did anyone arrest him for it? Nope. Because it seem that the uber rich and the politically powerful are indeed above the law. I see 2 possible reasons #1-LEO's are on musk/trump side or #2-no LEO has the guts to arrest any of them

You're right, but Trump will just pardon them, so in effect they DO have immunity.

I saw the prison on the news program. These men are sleeping on stainless steel beds without pillows without linens without a blanket that’s. Their heads are shaved. I’m not sure they even have any clothing. This is criminal and Donald Trump should be impeached over it.

Dear amazing and oh so necessary journalists at Meidas,

As a reader and subscriber I want to ask you to cover a really important story that very, very few sites let alone Legacy media are focusing on: two weeks ago a 24 year old woman in Georgia had a miscarriage and was found unconscious and taken to the hospital. They found the disposed fetus and ascertained it had not been aborted. And yet, the mother has been charged with murder and is not free. This is so important and frightening. Please use your great skills and reach to highlight this. Thank you

Welcome to the entering class of Trump University's course on American Economics. This university is distinguished by repelling experts and historical truths from impeding the wistful conjuring of the master of the universe, Donald L Trump.

Unfettered by inconvenient, complicated, and confusing facts, this course only requires passive acquiescence. The tuition will simply be withdrawn from your retirement and savings accounts. The results of this course are not guaranteed, but you will have fun and get tired of becoming so rich.........or not.

Buckle up your seat belts and enjoy the race to the bottom. It is totally bewildering how the GOP Congress can be so blind to the utter recklessness and insane delusions of this mad king. Congress passively acquiesced and capitulated their power, lining up to drink the toxic Kool-Aid, and just blankly sputters nonsense to the American People.

Already angered by the MAGA/ Project 2025 ransacking of our government, this economic catastrophe will be Trump's Waterloo. The rats are already distancing themselves from Trump and looking for escape routes off this sinking ship. We must not allow Trump to sink us with him!

All I can say is I am glad my veteran husband passed in July last year. He would be furious with what is happening especially after Trump's embarrassing and humiliating day of Assinine Tariffs. Can you believe he had the gall to place tariffs on MacDonald and Heard Islands? No one lives there except for penguins. I mean I have to laugh at all the jokes however our once great country has spiraled into madness and I have to fight to honor my husband.

So let me get this straight—Russia pays a 0% tariff to the U.S., while our NATO allies in the EU, including Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania—the very nations staring down Russian tanks and cyberattacks—get hit with a 20% tariff? We’re punishing the frontline defenders of democracy while giving Putin a free pass? Brilliant strategy—if you're rooting for Moscow.

We, the People, ever the optimists, believe there is a beneficial plan, an altruist goal here. There is not. We know in our bones and souls, there is not. We have been hijacked by a disgruntled fragment of our voting population who envy everyone whom they perceive as "better than they ... oops, 'cuse me, them" and that is the fuel of their animus. Nothing matters but getting revenge, pretending that they "own" the very people they envy. Look around - money is a scorecard, not a tool. Take all "their" money, "their" democracy, and we win. But do they truly know what it is they won? They lost everything by "winning." I hope these pronouns don't obfuscate my point. Pronouns - a whole other crapfest.
