SPEAKER 2
After five weeks, we've entered the Supreme Court chapter of Donald Trump's losing and lawsuits in court. 92 lawsuits, 34 preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders. And we've got two efforts by the Trump administration to take a matter to the United States Supreme Court. one involving USAID, the other involving the Office of Special Counsel, who defends federal workers.
0:32
He's the ultimate federal worker, federal worker number one, if you will. And now the Trump administration, without a permanent Solicitor General in place, with an acting Solicitor General in place, is filing letters and petitions and all sorts of things to try to take these cases. That's inevitably where things are gonna go.
0:53
The other inevitability is that Elon Musk is not going away until a federal judge ultimately bars him from the government as an unconfirmed, power hungry madman. We're going to be seeing a lot of Elon Musk. Donald Trump has effectively delegated a lot of his domestic policy to Elon Musk, trotted him out today in a cabinet.

Michael Popok and Karen Friedman Agnifilo anchor the midweek edition of the top-rated Legal AF podcast. What’s on tap tonight?

  1. Trump is growing frustrated with his losses and just begged the Supreme Court to “do something” in an oddly worded letter.

  2. Trump is considering having Congress declare a phony war to justify p

utting people in internment camps and deporting them.

  3. Trump wants Musk to run his cabinet, even as his lawyers argue in federal court that Musk has no real power.

  4. The Supreme Court hears oral arguments in a reverse discrimination case brought by a white plaintiff.

And so much more at the intersection of law and politics. This episode was recorded February 26 prior to the Supreme Court’s pausing the lower-court’s midnight deadline for foreign aid funding.

Is there truly not enough evidence to invoke the 25th?

And how is the illegal immigrant permitted to do all of this? Can the ICC come get him for all the crud he's doing around the globe? I'm gobsmacked at all that is going on!

There is plenty of evidence to invoke the 25th. But the people who CAN invoke it, WILL NOT.

See Section 4: "Whenever the VICE PRESIDENT AND A MAJORITY OF EITHER THE PRINCIPAL OFFICERS OF THE EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS OR OF SUCH OTHER BODY AS CONGRESS MAY BY LAW PROVIDE, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President."

You don't have to look that far back to know that Americans will be sent to "camps." Over 120,000 Americans of Japanese descent were imprisoned -- that's the correct word for it -- in "camps" in the 1940s. Partially this was "fear of the other," partially it was a land grab, as many Issei and Nisei had very desirable property.

Indeed. The plantation is now fully integrated without regard to race, creed, color, age, gender, or political party. Add encampment to the other modern slavery--debt, and you have a nation existing (not living) under the thumb of an insane person.

Everyone in his administration dare not anger him for fear of displacement and (naturally) loss of the American Dream. The lawmakers and law breakers are the folks living the dream because (I've said it before) "There are no paupers on Capitol Hill."

Should mass containment actually happen this time in history will be looked upon as Critical Race Theory 2.0 and Inclusive of all ethnicities!

I ve been thinking about something odd. Lil Trump in college was raised by mom it would interesting what he was taught by her and grandparents I ve wondered his 5 languages plus he seems smarter than other 2. Is he set to be placed in office somewhere? I wouldn’t trust Trump.

Some raise I doubt his kids to be faithful to America or our Constitution they see WH for their own wealth and power.

He’s ran all the normal republican off last several years that would stand up for the Constitution now you have power right wing extremist in most.

If we Americans don’t stand up to this takeover soon we will not have a Democracy.

Just a note about several Vets I’ve talk with lately with DJT tearing up VA, Medicaid and Maybe SS AS KIDS ARE DIGGING THROUGH OUR PRIVATE INFO.

THESE VET ARE ANGRY, HURT,Upset they fought for this Country now they see America in DC as enemies taking their right to Privacy also say their older Vietnam Iraq and some went on 9/11 all to Have an evil person like Countries they fought to make their end years stressing. Some say they will not stick around threw DJT destruction of our country after losing so many soldiers in our wars

I’ve cried hearing this it breaks my heart. My husband passed in 2013 I know he’d be horrified, angry, & Sad as hell too.

I do know we have do something before midterms as DjT closed election office that protects our election Cyber & foreign interference like Russia why either he know no future election or let Russia attack our systems like China as well Iran

I’ve never disliked another human as I do DJT sad we have

To go through this. I am sure Orban help with this process as he went to Fl 3 or 4 x last yr with GOP going to Hungray.

Americans will have to be the ones to stand up to DJT.

RED States will hurt the most what will they do

Calif should keep their $83b in Fed tax next couple years as a cautionary move.

Maybe to many McD will stop DJT

Thanks I pretty mad as many others. Read article here on SUBSTACK that DJT could be a Russian asset but for some reason I don’t see it he seem to ignorant but anything’s possible. His first wife from CZ it was a greater possibility. I posted it. You should read it.

Expand full comment
Ed Garland's avatar

YOU are the "savior" you're looking for. Trump presented himself as a savior to a group of people who believed his lies. They saw him as a leader who will not allow them to suffer--only illegals and other targeted groups.

The mindset of needing a savior is dangerous to entertain. Thinking for oneself, staying informed, and taking action (voting) is a defense against following a monster. His supporters are finding out they're not special, and he doesn't care about the people who voted for him.

Looking for a leader is what's got untold numbers of people looking to the mega church community. They're not reading the Book for themselves. They're not thinking for themselves. Like the sheeple who followed Trump, churchgoers look to their "leader" for instruction and faithfully donate to support a lifestyle beyond the reach of most.

No ring in our noses. No bit in our mouths. We are not following a Judas goat to slaughter. "Sometimes, the best way to get rid of a problem is to stop participating in it." --Johnathan Mead

Can't he (Trump and musk) be sued personally for some of their '' actions? How long can it take after a case gets to the Supreme Court before its resolved?

If this last much longer we may be the next immigrants.

Can I please change the subject? I have a friend with cancer who gets assistance for her co-pays through a grant that is administered by a nonprofit. Usually the assistance application process begins in January, but this year the pharmaceutical and biotech companies that provide the assistance have not put any money into the fund. Anybody reading this with ties to pharmaceuticals or biotechs who can explain what is happening? The nonprofit insists that federal dollars are not part of the co-pay assistance, so the chopping of NIH funding should not be the cause. Thanks.

Recently I googled to see if the muskrat was actually a US citizen. He is. Also Canada and South Africa. There is a petition circulating in Canada to revoke his citizenship from what I have seen on a petition site. They had over 230,000 signatures then. I don’t know what will happen in Ottawa. Obviously if it’s real and hits a certain number of signatures, then it would

have to go through whatever Canadian law and their Parliament decides. I suspect his a-hole pal, trumplethinskin is having do whatever because he’s 1) too old himself and probably can’t remember much 2) it puts blame, as is his modus operandi, on someone else for his follies that he remembers.

Something is going to go “boom” in the not-too-distant future with all this and the Dems, much as people are protesting their not doing much, are letting this mess blow up and waiting with our usual mops, brooms and vacuums. We must be ready to clean up the mess when the 💩💩hits the fan.

I think we should ask our Democratic senators and Congress people to boycott the state of the union! If only one senator and one Congress person attended Trump's SOTU affair, which will be nothing but propaganda then the rest of the members of the Democratic caucus's could hold 10 minute live press conferences. They could be hold them in various locations around the country, so that none of them are in danger by having them all go somewhere else together. As Trump is spewing his propaganda, they could be speaking truth. I think the media would love it, and it would show to the American people that Democrats are willing to do something drastic.

It seems that the billionaire oligarchs meet the criteria for addiction. They are addicted to money, and I say it in all seriousness. This is parallel to drug, alcohol, gambling, or other addictions. Would be good for professionals to unpack that, list criteria, let readers decide if DOGE, MAGA, etc., meet the criteria, then look at treatment interventions for addiction.

So... I am afraid that, unless there is an organic resistance by the military against the treasonous... we are all toast and this is a fracture in the vein of the past world wars.

ie. we are deep into WWIII, with a 'small' theatre of war and the big moves happening elsewhere.

And, control has never been easier. Just look at who was in attendance at the inauguration: those people control FAR TOO MUCH of our data, information and lives...
