Afghan Veteran Voice's avatar

An Afghan veteran who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with American forces has now been left behind with nothing. He sacrificed his health, his future, and his safety in a war that was not his alone—but today i feels abandoned by the very government i fought beside.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about basic humanity. No soldier or ally who risked everything for America should ever be forgotten. I hope more Americans will raise their voices for those Afghan veterans who kept their promises to the U.S., even when the U.S. didn’t keep its promises to them. I hope USA officials pay attention to us.

Typical for American interest. Propagandize a situation, collect assets, exploit, and abandon. You see the residue of empire around the world. I was a foot soldier for empire until the light came on.

Thank you for posting this and for your service. Our veterans do not get the support they deserve, and this administration is unraveling everything that this country has stood for.

The republiCRAPS--especially The Dictator Criminal Deranged Psycho in the Oval Office--have NO humanity at all. Doubt those dingbats appreciate your service, but I (and I KNOW I'm obviously not the only one!) certainly do. Pisses (excuse me!) me off to now end that you and all our other veterans are treated by the republiCRAPS like you are.

Seems we can’t trust a republican government.

NOV. 27TH - DEC. 1ST, 2025 WE AIN’T BUYING IT - Pause shopping from major companies that are enabling this administration. Thanksgiving-Cyber Monday, Americans can pause on shopping from Target; Amazon; and Home Depot; Full Black Out: Don’t buy anything from them during this week. Use the time and money to connect with those you love, and rediscover what matters.

We Ain’t Buying It is an economic action and solidarity campaign. Americans can pause shopping from major corporations that have caved to the administration’s policies. Instead, we’ll stand together for family, freedom, and the future we deserve. What are we building? Immediate economic pressure; Community muscle; Long-term resistance.

This action is taking direct aim at Target, for caving to this administration’s biased attacks on DEI; Home Depot, for allowing and colluding with ICE to kidnap our neighbors on their properties; and Amazon, for funding this administration to secure their own corporate tax cuts. Until they cease collaborating with this administration’s harmful policies, our dollars will go elsewhere. Who should we support instead? Support Black, Immigrant and POC-owned businesses, small and local shops, retailers that have stood firm for democracy and inclusion.

Why now? Why Black Friday and Cyber Monday? The Numbers Tell the Story: In 2024, 196.7 million Americans shopped during Thanksgiving weekend. Cyber Monday has become an enormous cultural and commercial phenomenon. If we want corporations to hear our concerns about enabling this administration’s harms to our communities, we need to send them a message during this crucial window. Thanksgiving retail week is a crucial period for big retailers; nearly 20% of annual sales happen between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If we coordinate even a small drop in these numbers, we send a powerful message: we want to see them stand up and stop enabling harm for profit.

My boycott of as many Big Corps as I can has been going on for over 25 years. There has been the occasional slip-up along the way. 🥴

Very encouraging to find out that millions of others (tens of millions?) have realized/calculated that we, collectively, REALLY DO have the power to bring them all to heel.

[IMO Worth A Bigger Mention - Thank You]

BLACKOUT THE SYSTEM - NOT A MOMENT - BUT A MOVEMENT https://www.blackoutthesystem.com/ BLACKOUT THE SYSTEM is a national non-partisan, grassroots movement born from frustration, injustice, and the undeniable truth that the people hold the power - not corrupt governments, not billionaires, and not broken systems. It is not just a one-and-done strike, boycott or protest. It is a long-term solution - a movement that aims to bring about significant and strategic change by uniting individuals to peacefully disrupt the current systems and build new ones. The injustices we face—rising inequality, exploited labor, stripped rights, and a corrupted democracy—are all symptoms of one disease: Greed. We oppose the deliberate, engineered division of our country, the hoarding of wealth by corporations and billionaires, and the systematic dismantling of our Constitution. Our position is clear: We believe in the power of the people and in unifying across all demographics, to strategically and peacefully withdraw our labor, our spending, and our financial support, while building resilient, community-based systems that reclaim our resources, restore justice, and return power to the people.

[Extensive lists of companies to consider boycotting with reasons stated for doing so]

[DEI-related] “Many corporations, and individuals, comfortable right now in their privileged and racist positions, are attacking a wide variety of “others” in our nation. Cancelling DEI programs and goals for helping the disenfranchised and oppressed in our nation is another bad thing. We include the most egregious attacks on humanity and the focused destruction of programs mirroring American goals—such as the cancellation of DEI systems and priorities. Here is the current list of companies that have confirmed they’re shutting down their DEI commitments, or treating the homeless badly, or donating to politicians threatening the nation and democracy, or are known for harassing poor people and other Americans.” Source: StreetSense Substack, Thomas Hansen, 7-Jul-25; Boycotts Continue and More Companies Are Added to the List! https://tinyurl.com/ect7rsk9 [N.B. To the question below about the likely economic consequences of a holiday boycott. Hard to know until we are on the other side looking back. Maybe it will be a starting point upon which people can build, as with the “No Kings” protests. Non-resistance is willful ignorance by avoidance and voluntary acceptance of these abuses by compliant submission. Boycotts may not work. They will not work if we do not try. Economist Ernest (below) provides a roadmap with starred destinations: “successful boycotts are usually targeted at specific companies.” We know who the most egregious offenders are and so where to start. The question becomes: are people willing to participate in and adhere to collective change if doing so requires personal sacrifice and inconvenience?

Cleveland.com 7-Nov-25 https://tinyurl.com/4uvmekb “Economists are skeptical of the boycott’s impact According to Jonathan Ernest, an economist at Case Western Reserve University, broad and short-term boycotts like this one are typically ineffective. He explains that consumers often engage in “temporal spending shifts,” meaning they simply delay or move up their purchases rather than forgoing them altogether. This negates any significant financial impact on large businesses. Ernest notes that successful boycotts are usually targeted at specific companies, can be sustained for a long period, and have clear, identifiable goals—conditions that a general, week-long protest does not meet.”

Something tells me those files left a bitter taste in his mouth which he has been hopelessly unable to wash away.

Put up billboards in the state capitals where each of these senators is from. Include the senator's name, photo, phone number, how much money he/she stole from his/her constituents with this sneaky move, and some facts about how the constituents will suffer from the big, ugly bill...how many people will lose their healthcare, how many hospitals will close in the state, etc. I want my money's worth.

The ICE That Froze Our Freedom

In a town by the tracks, on a warm Monday night,

Came the rumble of boots that delivered a fright.

Not boots full of courage, nor service, nor grace—

But ICE in the shadows, invading each place.

They stormed into kitchens, they stormed into pews,

They frightened the children, they threatened the crews.

They bothered the clergy, the helpers, the kind—

With cold, bitter tactics that twisted the mind.

They banged on the doors with a knock and a sneer,

They targeted neighbors who’ve lived many years.

They questioned the citizens born on this land,

As if freedom itself was too foreign to stand.

With papers or not, it was all just the same—

A cruel little circus with Trump’s name on the frame.

He cheered from the tower—“Go harder! Go fast!”

“Make examples of people! Make fear ever last!”

But communities rose in a powerful wave,

From teachers and nurses to the ones who were brave.

They linked up their arms, they refused to step back,

They defended their neighbors from ICE’s attack.

They shouted the truth through the chaos and din:

“America’s promise is for ALL to begin!”

Not for cages or cruelty, not for hatred’s design—

But for families, love, and the dignity divine.

And clergy stood tall with a lantern of light,

Declaring with courage: “This isn’t God’s fight.”

They sheltered the weary, they shielded the scared,

They showed what a nation of good hearts declared.

So gather, dear friends, let the message ring through:

When freedom is frozen, we warm it anew.

With truth as our banner and justice our drum,

The people will rise—

and the tyrants will succumb.
