Food stamps is what is now called SNAP. If the shut down continues more than a month, those benefits may not be sent because states (especially red states) depend on federal funds for things like SNAP and Medicaid payments. Social security will be okay for a bit longer, hopefully. There are literally NO guarantees with the current insanity that is our government.
