On Meidas Health, Dr. Vin Gupta talks with Dr. Erica Pan and Dr. Monica Soni about protecting evidence-based care, lowering costs, and rebuilding public trust when Washington won’t.
I agree that there are many things states can do on their own, or better yet in agreements with other like minded states. I just wish there would be a way that states that decide to help their constituents did not have to pay more in federal taxes to subsidize those who do not. A tiny bit of that sort of happened with trump's big tax cuts for the wealthy. I think that more wealthy folks live in blue states and therefore those states will see more tax cuts than the lower income red states. This will be especially true if the tariffs are found to be illegal (which they will not, regardless of what the Constitution says about the Congress having the power to levy tariffs, not the president...we know the SC has little regard for the Constitution). I don't know if there are smart folks in blue states who can figure out how their citizens can pay less in tariffs so that even less money from their citizens would be going to the feds and therefore the red states. I really think citizens in blue states would be willing to have their taxes raised the same amount that they were reduced in the GOP budget bill in order to pay for health and education services for their citizens....that's a big difference between red and blue states...blue states think the responsibility of all citizens is to help all citizens and, well, I have no idea what red states believe...sort of each man for himself unless they need help and then they rely on SNAP, medicaid, ACA subsidies, FEMA money more than blue states (sort of like farmers who don't like socialism until it means they get bail outs every time things get tough for them ). I live in a red state, so this is a scary proposition for me, but I do hope blue states will band together to show the world that there still are a lot of Americans who believe in the founding ideas of our democracy, that government is for the people.
It's as if California is really part of Canada...helping their people..fighting this horrid administration.
Yes, California is always the leader. Thanks to Governor Gavin Newsom. And, thank you Dr. Gupta and guests for this valuable information.
California is basically its own country at this point. We do what is needed whatever the feds do.
Perhaps a State like California could pioneer a true Universal Healthcare system of their own design using the power of their economy?
This is inspirational. Here in Virginia, we do not see this kind of leadership in the field of public health. Thanks for showing us the way.
I write to try to be an independent beacon that laypeople can look to about health in times like these.

Health should be non-partisan - party lines irrelevant. Health/health care
should be a universal right.
Born and raised in California. I've always been grateful and more so now with all the shit going on with dementia rump and his sick mob..
Proud of my state and the healthcare leadership we have 💙💙👏👏
