Science is a seatbelt.

This episode lands. Dr. Kressly and Dr. Gupta are saying out loud what many clinicians whisper: when you purge expertise, hijack approvals, and flood parents with junk science, kids pay the price. Pediatricians can’t “stay in their lane” while the lane is being ripped up.

Three takeaways I’m carrying into fall:

• Vaccines + data save lives — RSV, flu, Covid. Don’t let politics set your pediatric schedule.

• Canceling research cancels futures — halting childhood cancer studies and drowning families in autism myths isn’t neutral; it’s neglect.

• Public health needs a public — citizens who demand transparent guidance, not vibes or conspiracies.

Meidas Health is filling a leadership void here. Bookmark this, share with one caregiver, and print the key recs for your school or clinic. Kids can’t vote; the rest of us have to do it for them. www.xplisset.com

I tell young people every day that they need to get their vaccines. I remember my mom sitting up all night nursing brothers and sisters with mumps, rubella, pertussis, and polio. This generation doesn't understand the ramifications of not getting vaccinations. I'm so sick of all the lies and misinformation.

Health = everything. (When not healthy, everything in life becomes harder)

Mitigation= keeping people healthier longer & with fewer complications. That is GOOD.

My grandfather was in a wheelchair majority of his adult life from polio. He would have given anything to have had a vaccine... to have kept his athletic life. By losing mobility, he lost his freedom in life. (and long before the ADA enforced buildings to have ramps).

I wish the chickenpox vaccine had been around when I was 5yo. Thankfully there is a shingles vaccine for those of us who had chickenpox.

I had the mumps vaccine as a child, and I got mumps years later... but mild swelling (hard to tell it was mumps).

Enough bad things will happen in life. Mitigation of health issues should be the easy choice.

Me too... and there are so many more diseases that we have vaccines for. Will RFK, Jr. and his Anti-VAX circus monkeys take away all the vaccines? Do we want to face down all of these diseases all over again?

Here are all the diseases for which there are vaccines. If all these vaccines were taken away, then what? Do we want all these diseases to come back in full force and full swing? I do not!

“Vaccines are available for these 21 dangerous or deadly diseases. Over the years, these vaccines have prevented countless cases of disease and saved millions of lives. People need different vaccinations, depending on their age, location, job, lifestyle, travel schedule, health conditions or previous vaccinations.

• COVID-19

• Dengue

• Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough)

• Hepatitis A

• Hepatitis B

• Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)

• Human papillomavirus (HPV)

• Influenza (flu)

• Measles, mumps, and rubella (German measles)

• Meningococcal

• Mpox

• Pneumococcal

• Polio (poliomyelitis)

• Rotavirus

• Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)

• Shingles (herpes zoster)

• Varicella (chickenpox)” https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/by-disease/index.html

I just don’t understand why Trump wants to destroy public health…I would understand if he wants to punish political opponents (as nefarious as it is) but why in the world does he want to endanger the entire child population. What an evil man…

dt is sick & twisted. Egomaniac. No loving relationships EVER in life. Just transactions.

Now he's almost 80 yo, near done with life... his ego is battling his immortality & whatever medical ills. (Musk is years younger, but following similar path).

dt has no concept of humanity and does not care about anyone.

He has no interest in his son who is 60!!! years younger... whose lifetime could benefit from cures of cancer.

Billionaires assume they will buy their way out of any disease or problem.

BUT.... if the vaccines & meds & cures are not researched and trialed years in advance... no amount of $$$$$ will over night come up with a cure.

I’m afraid that in this case, RFK,Jr is equally culpable. He spreads disinformation ( remember that means spreading information that you know is false and can hurt others) that affects the whole country and the world.),To me, that is evil.,.

Thank you…I really appreciate it, but I am still utterly puzzled why Trump wishes such bad health care on his people to the extent of appointing a famed vaccine skeptic to office? If he claims to rule the country and if he claims to want to make America great again, why won’t he want to make people healthy? I just can’t read his psychology.

Trump is difficult to understand psychologically. He is motivated by wanting and keeping power. Many of his MAGA base approve of RFK Jr and many are also vaccine skeptics. Trump is conflicted He could go either way, but he is underwater poll-wise on every issue and though his name will not be on the ballot in 2026, he will have a big effect on the results of the election. I think he doesn’t want to get rid of RFK Jr because he’s afraid of MAGA’s reaction. He should fire him immediately if he won’t do the right thing re:providing vaccines. Sen Bernie Sanders and Sen Bill Cassidy MD have called for an investigation in the Senate. I hope that happens and soon. Also, I plan to call my member of the House and both of my Senators about this issue.

This seems to be RFK, Jr.'s personal experiment on real people to prove that we all can live better lives and healthier lives if we just let nature rule and do not intervene with any science or medical treatments. After millions of people die and the viruses rise up to take over once again, if he survives, he will just claim that everyone who died just wasn't healthy enough to fight it off and they were meant to die. Neanderthal!

RFK is a “social darwinism” believer like the techbros…bordering on eugenics. They have a belief that they are superior humans and don’t care if inferior ones die. No interest in the common good. RFK is truly a sociopath or even a psychopath- look up his history with Samoa and measles epidemic. Trump is too self absorbed to think about these things, though accountable as the president for turning a sick person loose on our entire public health infrastructure.

You really don't understand?

It's because big pharma is the biggest money that for the longest time (besides the Fed and IRS which are also partly privately owned) has controlled us. They are the robber barrons, the really big money.

MAGA thought Trump would take them down, which he is trying to do, but not because he wants to stop their influence in politics, but because he wants to put in all his own people and take control of it so that he has control over everything. Big pharma is massive money - in the trillions per year. Trump wants it. If Trump's regime does not have control over Big Pharma, The Fed and The IRS, they aren't really in control, big pharma, the fed and the irs will still own America and its people.

Further, corporations, including Big Pharm, have infiltrated US regulatory agencies, effecting TRUST. Big Pharm wants more & more $$$$$$, not regulation, NOT safety or accountability for Safety in the vaccines. This is the part the maggots have correct and most of YOU, do not understand. It is a mixed up mess with NO transparency.. Vaccine issues have been kept in the dark by your beloved power loving doctors, and public health forever. Now, the Big Pharm corporate agenda overcomes that priority. Some of US know the WHOLE story.

Kolokia's avatar

This is it exactly Vicki. Dems have to come to terms with the fact that we were all under an oligarchy even before the billionaire techs and Trump decided to go for it. Covid is part of how Trump got into power, with the promise to not allow big pharma to control us all. Big Pharma is a big reason why we are in this mess with Trump's regime to begin with.

Freedom and any kind of real democracy will necessitate taking big pharma out of government just like it means taking the tech billionaires out of it.

I hope Dr's (all disciplines) and medical associations preach science facts from the rooftops.

Wish there had been much louder coalitions before RFK jr.

The points made above are about childhood health... but so far, have the majority of parents cared? Enough to take to the streets in protest every week for at least the next YEAR straight?

Are the states of TX & FL drowning out the voices of parents who want their kids to thrive?

Drs/scientists/experts must be tired of this fight... ongoing at maximum force since 2020. The medical community simultaneously vilified & expected to treat all.

My own cancer journey took 2 complete years. I dont wish that on any child. Nor on any parent that lost a child to cancer and has to live with the What If's (of prevention & treatments not tried).

How do we, as a country, break the "down spiral" of head in sand. (The oh , won't happen to me, or my child, or anyone *I* care about)

No major world religion prohibits vaccination. Do any prohibit the caring about fellow humans?

Humans are becoming really twisted... to enjoy the suffering of others + ego to think they are above every disease. Does everyone in Congress & the administration really believe they are immortal?

Unfortunately, we are a species that has to learn the hard way. It takes a disaster, a catastrophe, and major loss of life that impacts that person or family before they will do anything - and some still will not do anything. Remember the story of the flood where the guy sat atop his house and refused the helicopter and the boat repeating that God would save him? He died and when told God had indeed sent the means to save him, the guy did not see it until it was too late. If you are a believer that God will save you from diseases if it is meant to be and take you if it is not, well.... God has already provided us a cure, a prevention, a treatment. Taking it away or refusing it is just the same as turning away rescue workers in a flood and drowning from the stupidity.

I am so grateful for your expertise, your honesty and your quick response to these crazy and outlandish propaganda points of misinformation that are going to harm the American public if we are not putting safeguards in place to head them off. I find it interesting that RFK Junior said to the committee Interviewing him as a nominee that he is not a medical doctor. He is not a medical professional, and that no one should be taking any medical advice from him whatsoever. They should be looking to their personal physicians for that. And now look what he’s done it’s unconscionable that he is putting millions of people at risk by denying the research and the public health mechanism access to funding to take care of the people of the United States.

Cheeto’s Slight of Hand Trick: Passing Extra Taxes Onto States and Americans

The Orange Cheeto and his Nazi allies in the Executive Branch are freezing federal funds to local, state, and federal agencies on the pretense of cost cutting That is now becoming obviously ludicrous that it’s about making government frugal and streamlined The Nazi party has long contended there is government waste, fraud and abuse but the cutting of civil service jobs is to facilitate privatization of government services which in effect gives his cronies opportunities to grift on Americans

Passing taxes onto states? Case in point…Cheeto cuts funding for the Revolution Wind Project begun off shore by Connecticut and Rhode Island that created 1000+ jobs and was to make Rhode Island 100% renewable energy by 2033 The most reckless of the Cheeto decision was that that funding was cut when the project was 80% completed

Or was it reckless? Or was it just Cheeto passing the federal support onto the consumers of Connecticut and Rhode Island? Just another tax that Cheeto has passed onto the states First it was tariffs adding to an already inflated economy due to the loss of the purchasing power of the dollar Then government programs like FEMA get cut so that Go Fund Me pages cover the expenses of natural disasters supported by the American people Then states will have to pick up the medical expenses in every state where people lose health care coverage and try to keep rural hospitals open Then the taxpayers of Connecticut and Rhode Island have to pick up the last 20% to complete the project

Cheeto is on the way to illegally cut passed federal subsidies to the states so he can claim that he is cutting waste fraud and abuse while he passes tax cuts for the ultrawealthy VOTE these Nazi bums out of office and start taxing the shit out of billionaires
