I understand that he did not meet with him. Pope Francis sent an emissary who schooled him on compassion and peace during the entire conversation. However I did see a picture of them shaking hands. Most reports I've seen and read is that Pope Francis did not meet with Vance.
I read somewhere that the Pope's #2 talked to him about compassion. I'm sure he agreed, since he said he was a baby Catholic, but did he understand? I'm sure not. Even a baby Catholic should know what the difference is between right and wrong.
