And the counter intuitive aspect is D thinks he won this weekend because....we are TALKING about him. He may be reviled in the annals of history but HE DOES NOT CARE. He may have sh*t named after him (by MAGA), crypto, and of course dozens of books......in his mind he wins.

Because they're idiots. Didn't want a female president. They're gullible and really believed that The Red Cap Dunce was going to save them from the "evil that is the Democrat Party." Dump did a good job of brainwashing the republiCRAPS (and some Democrats) into thinking he's God and he will save them from Biden and the Democrats--and everything else that's "bad.."

Many Latin Americans do not trust anything labled 'leftist' . So if the Magnuts and RepubliCONs call the democrats 'leftists' a large swath of immigrants equate democrats with heavy handed leftist regimes in South America and Central America and the Caribbean. It isn't the truth that the republCONs and Magnuts are telling. They lie. But lies can sway and convince

LOOK: the Memorial Day crap is of no concern now. We need to look forward to June 14th, when about 7,000 armed troops presumably now loyal to the slimy orange turd will be billeted in US government buildings in D.C. (WHY???), tanks and other armaments will be available on the streets of D.C., and there's every reason to expect the turd to order them all to surround and capture the Capitol, establishing martial law. That's what he's said repeatedly he wants, and SCOTUS has given him immunity to do it. WHY are so many of us sitting around pretending it's business as usual, life as usual, and all we have to worry about is whether or not to buy a new car this year or go on vacation?? Ruth Ben-Ghiat, in her latest Lucid Zoom, expressed real fears about the possibility of a coup on June 14th? In her book _Strongmen_ she wrote about the same kind of tactic used by Mussolini, Bolsonaro, and other authoritarians, and she lays out the timeline for this kind of takeover. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN AUTHORITARIAN REGIME, period. When are we going to wake up? Jason Stanley, Lawrence Tribe, Rachel Maddow, Steven Levitsky, and many other authorities on the law and authoritarianism have warned us for years!

Unfortunately as I have talked to many people until the majority of Americans are hit financially or it directly effects their households or employment, they just don't have any feeling that their way of life is being threatened. Sadly some I spoke to even still love Trump, which is where I have to just distance myself from them. Americans are slow to react and time is not on our side.

Agree with you-Americans are so distracted by the reality TV BS that they can’t perceive the disaster coming towards them. They have been scammed for decades by the “conservative “ propaganda that blatantly supports the fleecing of Americans in all aspects from republican policies. Policies that decimate the counties and states of their own constituents. Without the tax base from blue states (ie. California) those republican led states would be underfunded in all segments, but due to the propaganda displayed 24/7 on right wing media, red state voters are clueless what they are actually missing out on. Poverty, lack of affordable health access, increasing food prices, shorter life spans, etc. I think there will be a slow growing dissatisfaction boiling to the surface at some future date, probably within this year or the next due to draconian cuts to all social programs and lack of food assistance, let alone the betrayal to the cult of magat. And the build up of the brown shirt moron militia willing to turn on fellow Americans should anger every military member, every American CEO, every politician in office, but unfortunately we see in front of us who are the real anti-democracy operatives- the magat/republican boot licking along with the complicit legacy MSM.

His next step would be the creation of a diversion,to move our attention so he can repeal our court system, this requires a suspension of the Constitution. This event needs to bring fear and desperation so he can use the administration to act like a group of saviors in our time of need. I hope I'm wrong about this but people need to understand only our court systems have protected us from a full on Constitutional suspension and furthering his meglomania tendencies

I wouldn’t be surprised if many Americans are trying to put their heads in the sand because they are terrified and overwhelmed. If we focus on developing our immunity to the disease of this hate and violence, we may be able to tolerate the knowledge of what’s really happening without feeling so overwhelmed. When I feel stronger I am able to stop myself from joining the orgy of hate. It’s a thought, anyway!!

This is scary. But, he does things every day which are totally off the wall and illegal to boot. Then everyone says, "Oh my - that was bizarre. I can't believe he did / said that." Yet the day / month / year before, he SAID he was going to do that. Then when he does it's met with either applause from the immoral MAGA's or dismay from others. Wake up everyone. He's a fucking liar, but when it comes to how he will 'become king' and destroy our democracy, he tells the truth.

WORK: do phone banks and speak honestly to voters, text, postcard if you like, call your Congress persons, protest with your signs and your friends, respond kindly if others are rude. Above all, don’t let yourself become infected with the disease of violence and hate: treat yourself kindly, do things you love that restore your spirits so you can keep going without depleting your energy reserves. Treat yourself as someone building immunity against a contagious disease and value your humanity and that of others. At least, this is what I’ve been thinking about as a way stop ourselves from infecting others with this disease of hate and violence. Does this make sense to you?

It IS enough. Perhaps you’re feeling the way I did for the past few years until I realized for sure that I was not alone in this work and I was not responsible for fixing everything. Had to look carefully at all the millions of Americans standing up and stop paying attention to the media drama queens trying to sell ads. I could focus on doing the work I could manage, one phone bank or protest at a time. And I had to stop responding nastily to nasty people so that I didn’t catch their disease; somehow, that gave me peace of mind. This is an idea I’m playing with, courtesy of Dr. Gary Slutkin’s disease model of authoritarian violence.

Yesterday marked the unofficial start of the summer season; however, it also represented a most solemn day when we remember those who have fallen in service to our country protecting and defending our country and freedom.

These men and women answered their country’s calling to support and defend the U.S. Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, paying the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives to preserve our democracy.

Each of these men and women swore the following oath to our Constitution:

“I, (state your name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

The words of this oath are simple and straightforward. Their meaning carry the weight of the underpinnings that support our Republic.

I swore this oath six times in my life: when I was inducted into the United States Army in 1980, when I was hired by the United States Postal Sevice in 1984, when I joined the Army National Guard in 1986, when hired by the local County Sheriff’s Office in 2000 and then with my two subsequent promotions to Sergeant in 2007 and Lieutenant in 2016.

The first time I swore the oath, I was 20 years old, and the words did not fully resonate with me; however, each time I later swore the oath I was a bit older, and had a greater understanding and appreciation of what the words meant and their importance to not only me, but to the country I served. I began to understand and embrace that the words were a calling to a purpose higher than myself. It was my solemn pledge and bond to support and defend the Constitution and the country that had given me every opportunity to live free because of the sacrifice of so many.

The purpose of the Oath of Office is reminder that those who take it do not swear allegiance to a supervisor, an agency, a political appointee or even the President of the United States. The oath is their personal commitment to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and to faithfully execute their duties.

The Oath of Office is loyalty to a creed and ideal higher than any one individual. It is what binds us together as a nation.

As an US Army veteran, Memorial Day has a significant meaning as I remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to service to our great nation.

I was appalled by Donald Trump’s grotesque spectacle and disrespect at West Point to those who answered their country’s calling to serve. Trump dishonors the Officer of the President of the United States, and displayed nothing but contempt for those in military uniform and service. The truly shameful thing is that millions of Americans believe his actions and words are okay.

Thank you, P. Skinner. How can we hear from more veterans appalled by this poor excuse for a president? I can understand why soldiers currently serving may be afraid to express their opinions. However, if a large number of brave veterans could join together, maybe their voices would be heard by people who voted for the guy. If those voters respect the military, perhaps they would start to regret their vote for Trump.

When facts don’t dictate your thought, and the lies of a single individual do, you’re in a cult. The Republican party no longer exists, it is simply the MAGA cult.

In a cult, members don't think for themselves and certainly can't use their own words to defend their position. They use the words of their master.

Do you remember when Trump on the campaign trail said: “I care about your vote, I don’t care about you, I care about your vote” and they CHEERED? 🤦‍♀️

Millions of people voted for this guy, despite all the warning signs. Half these people would never let their child date a convicted felon, but they decided it was OK to give one the nuclear codes.

It's an embarrassment to be an American right now!
