Thank you so much for having me on! Here’s the piece I wrote about Rogansphere comedians. https://open.substack.com/pub/wkamaubell/p/comedians-are-stupid-people-too?r=2jzu65&utm_medium=ios

BOOKMARKED!

Totally agree with that!!! I never tried to hide things from my kids, I just used "kid-appropriate" ways to explain what was going on. If you hide things or lie to them, they will only learn that they can't trust you, and they'll go find someone else to ask!

Come hang out on Substack. I’ll become one of your paid subscribers. I miss your program on CNN, not that I watch CNN much anymore. Take care.

and then, in the dark the things you haven't said, but which they can sense exists gives the nightmares.

"If Dad didn't tell us, then, why not? It feels scary"

Tell them the lot, what they don't understand at this stage of their life will slip by them until they learn more - and that's alright too. :)

Politics has become an obsession kind of like you see a terrible car accident and you know you shouldn’t look, but you do anyway!

I don’t know… I mean I get it… but one of the things I look back and loved about being a kid was that I never had to know what was going on in the world, and there was a lot! But we got to be a kids and not think about those things until we were older teens.

W. Kamau Bell's avatar

My mom understood that if I didn’t learn about racism until I was in my later teens that I wouldn’t have made it to my later teens.

I get it. But that’s something they may/do face in school. I’m talking g about all this stress and hate and violence and politics in general. We have such a short time to be innocent these days. We need to allow them that.

My kids have a great life while also understanding the world and how America sees them. Take care.

Kristin Bradshaw's avatar

I understand. I get it. And I’m sure they are very happy.

There’s real truth in that. Childhood should be a refuge, not a front-row seat to chaos. Letting kids just be kids is something we’ve lost, and need to protect.
