Thanks for being part of this movement!

Congratulations! Just don't get so big we no longer recognize you 3 brothers any more. That, imho, won't be worth any amount of growth.

As long as Meidas keeps to their core values of reporting the truth, I am very happy to see them reach as many people as possible.

Well done Meidas! Love the work. Keep at it!

How about having a share-funding round involving subscribers? I suspect many would be very interested in supporting this move. If you don't, there is a danger MTN will go the way of too many new start-ups - straight into the pockets (and hyper-profits) of the overwealthy bros, who you have regularly despised. That would be so sad.

I agree with the concerns you have raised as regards losing control to the oligarchs. The share funding from subscribers would help you to keep your eyes focused on your membership and what they would like to see you continue to do. It would create some balance over against wealthy interests who are usually more focused on their ROI than your message and facts. Keep the membership front and center lest you lose your soul to big investors, as many newspapers and media groups have already done as they bow the knee to big money. Don’t lose your soul.

Extremely well put! And I completely agree that they are on the brink of losing the one thing that set them apart.

I would support this in a heart beat

I like your idea!

💯 %! Came here to say this exact thing! MTN is the Pinnacle of Peak journalism and I would put money where my mouth is to keep it independent.

Is there a way to set it up like The Guardian whose assets are held by a trust rather than being publicly traded which means someone like a Bezos could buy it? I donʻt know the details but I read that the trust is the reason that The Guardian cannot be bought like a commodity by the uber-wealthy right wingers.

Martha Kehoe's avatar

I hope this does not affect your independence.

Wow! Congrats. So well deserved!

I am very grateful for your work. It's so helpful to have a news source that doesn't constantly filter the truth.

Fred Goldstein's avatar

FANTASTIC news!!

Hopefully down the road, you can acquire or create a cable TV network!!

Sounds like MTN is negotiating with late-night talk-show hosts (viz., Colbert!) to move his show to Meidas. One thing is certain if this happens: Colbert’s ratings will immediately go through the roof.

Congratulations. Please don't allow yourself to be sucked up by some shitty Oligarch. That would break our collective hearts.

Cait Yazell's avatar

I'm just flabbergasted that more people concerned about this very thing!

Kristin Lamm's avatar

Awesome ! Don’t know what we would do without you !

Precisely ✌️😃👍

Wonderful news. You are doing great work and helping to change the world for the better. I am proud to be a part of it.

MeidasTouch Network's avatar

We are grateful that you are part of it!

So are we (the subscribers) the only "investors"? If not, who are the other investors?

Diane Peters's avatar

That's my question as well. They brag about not being "owned" by oligarchs, and while I acknowledge the need to expand, which requires deeper pockets, this looks like a first step to being "owned" by the oligarchs. Please let us know the guardrails in place to prevent this.

Cait Yazell's avatar

That's my question as well 🫤

Keep up the good work! I listen to you first thing in the morning and you are my source for accurate news.

So proud to be part of the Miedas Mighty!

Independent media is important, and while I sometimes roll my eyes at the exaggerating titles, I appreciate what MT is out there doing.

And I appreciate the want and need to grow with the moment.

I however don't know if I feel comfortable being a paid subscriber to an "independent" platform now receiving money from undisclosed investors, let alone a soros fund.

🫤

At this point the only thing keeping me on this paid boat is the daily bulletin.

And now I'm seriously considering cancelling.

Y'all don't need my 10 bucks, but my family sure as hell does.

Sophia's avatar

I agree, these outside investments make me nervous bc I thought we were the investors that kept this network independent????? I may have to cancel too!!!!

Cait Yazell's avatar

Exactly! It seems counter productive to their core values

And of course I'm glad they are being up front about this. But it's not transparent enough for me.

And definitely has me questioning if I want to keep investing my hard earned dollars every month if they are getting cut huge investor checks.

I even get where they are coming from, the want to reach bigger audiences, cover more news.

But at what cost?

Fran Miner's avatar

Without independent media you would not receive the truth. Think about it.

Cait Yazell's avatar

Where did I question that? The first sentence of my post is that independent media is important...

Fran Miner's avatar

They need your support, even if they have large investors. I'm not criticizing your comments, just want you to think before you stop supporting them financially.

Cait Yazell's avatar

I appreciate you coming back to clear up my confusion about your comment.

That being said, I can guarantee you that my one income family could use that 10 bucks more than they could, especially if they are now being funded by billionaires.

I kept donating because it felt important, it felt like actually supporting something independent (and I honestly love the daily bulletin)

But now...I just don't know. It leaves a really dirty taste in my mouth.

We need to know A LOT more about this deal. Who are the investors? What's the actual contract, are they actually in control?

Before it was the mighty meidas, the small and many holding up this platform for truth...

Now it's funded by billionaires.

It's disheartening how many people are just okay with this.

(Edited for spelling error)

I'm not ok with it. I ended my paid subscription.
