Question: How is Trump able to wield tariffs when the Court held he is without authority to do so.

Steve Doll's avatar

Because the court is all words and no action, no follow-up, no accountability.

The SCOTUS decision on the latest redistricting is so partisan wrong that I have lost all belief in the Robert's Court. I mentally have fought in my own mind to believe in the relevance of the Court but this decision has brought that to an end . I now have zero belief in John Roberts and in his relevance as a Chief Judge. He has thrown American votes into irrelivance.

There are multiple laws that can be used to impose tariffs. The Court only invalidated one of them.

Sharon M. Morrison's avatar

Of course, but I'm pretty sure that none authorizes the president to slap on a tariff because he is personally piqued with the tariffed country. And the court didn't just disallow one of many tariffs. The ruling addressed the nature of tariffs--that is that a tariff is a sale tax and the power to tax rests exclusively with the Congress unless there is an event in the nature of an emergency.

The Court of International Trade ruled today that another of President Trump’s justifications for tariffs is invalid, the one he invoked in February to impose a smaller 10 percent tariff on most U.S. imports. It will no doubt be appealed to the Supreme Court.

You are SO correct in fact you remiss to allow the exponential understated basis it deserves. I say this because in your humble leed suggestion about _ N O T _ being one on one experienced in the problematic making of the direct deal stage. This is an adversarial perspective which has always been objectively mechanized around the same concept according to anyone that has ever been DENIED or even discrimanentally CATAGORIZED by way of EXPERIENCE knows . Then too very few people are outside of whom are included enough to agree. Add a dimension to speaking for us !

I do wish there was more investment in substack and less on you tube. I can’t keep up and having everything available in one place that doesn’t charge me for going commercial free is so nice. I would rather put my money into MTN not You Tube. And I get the line you are trying to/maybe must walk with the platforms.

I'm with you. Half the time I'm "blocked" from YouTube and have trouble finding these podcasts in there ways. That's even if they're in my "email Inbox." Also, I'm a paid subscriber.

JR's avatar

Me too. Paid subscriber on Substack. I was really looking forward to Monday night live legal af but not easy to find. I don’t have alot of money to throw at subscriptions so it’s frustrating. But i love MRN

Jean Conley's avatar

Same here! Not that I'm glad you have the YouTube situation like I do, but I really thought I was the only one. It's great that they are on YouTube (more exposure, more people informed), but the "normal" way NOW is sometimes hard to get. Little annoyed.

you are doing God's work for sure.

Hi Ben! Could you explain what specifically can be done to establish guardrails to strengthen our democracy so no one like Trump can ever happen again? Also once Dems get back in control, is it better to concentrate on these guardrails (as well as affordability issues) rather than impeachments?

Great idea with the pre-show!

Love reading Ron's newsletters.

I thought you were going to share some news instead of promoting your network. Most of us already watch or listen to you so we don’t need to hear your selling pitch all the time.

Cocodot's avatar

Can you look at the Comments? Talk, talk, talk! Often I feel sorry for Jordy who is squeezed out so much of time. Jordy is good...let him speak!

Ron’s daily newsletter is the best.

I would enjoy Scott or Pablo asking WHY they refuse to actually do their job defending Americans. Ask them if they are aware how much we hate them for their cowardice, corruption and refusal to earn our votes! Very curious about their response… or reaction to the questions.

Tired of being polite!

I'm very pleased with the Scott McFarlane reports as well as the Katie Phang work.

Yes. Love this format.

NO, just more talk about what you think...can't you just Q & A to get a feel for what WE think? That , to me, is a pre-show, to get the temperature and concerns of your audience. If its just you taking another 20 minutes to tell us over and over what you think, you're no different than what we are fighting against. Listen to Jordy!

You and your team at Meidas Touch are all doing amazing work getting the truth out there and mainstream media showing your clips on their networks are actually helping people learn of your network. Keep up the great work.
